I'm just like those old guys, that collect cats and put $$$ in the couch. In my case it is crypto. (sad, sad) That's not sad, at least my cat doesn't think it is.

Ack! Death Penalty! Really! It's a message. Go away quietly and quickly. Don't stay and fight. It's a long way to go but maybe somewhere like Micronesia would appreciate the publicity and revenue.

The article suggests the Thais are willing to forget the whole thing if he tows it somewhere else. Which seems to the simplest solution, albeit expensive in tow fees. The harder question is where to tow it to. Somehow, reminds me of 01 in terms of yearning for new developments in how civilization works and the "old" order. https://youtu.be/L0K6Cb1ZoG4?t=357Ack! So Elwar's SeaSteading get us to SkyNet! (figures)

Ack! Death Penalty! Really!
The Thais recently threatened the death penalty to people taking selfies in front of planes taking off. You can also be jailed for disrespecting the king there by stomping on his face when your banknote is caught by the wind. Seasteaders all have to start somewhere but they really need to leave any question of another jurisdiction far behind - https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/republic-of-minerva

+1 WOsMerit Serious accusations if true. Hope you and your family are safe comrade Elwar. ----------- It has come to the attention of Port Control through sources that investors are not getting enough bitcoin exposure. Port Control would like to issue the following statement and images *even though they could be seen as NSFW.We at Port Control take the issue of exposure very seriously..in fact we strongly encourage that every investor view, participate in and promote exposure whenever possible. Carry on. ------------ bitcoin As we enter the final hour of weekly candle Bulls have regained ground and are currently fighting for $5.2k Bear resistance has been moderate as the influx of bullish support continues to pour in. Continued combat operations are expected throughout the coming week as both sides appear intent on digging in and going toe to toe. Tune in later for the weekly wrap up. That is all. 1h 4h #stronghands'19

he did not ask the commander of the navy, perhaps....not trying to make a joke, but in the end all local 'agreements' could be superseded by a higher authority.

He is still inside the Thai Exclusive Economic Zone, 12 miles off the coast of Phuket. The Thais have the right to control navigation within the EEZ, which is why they are claiming in the article that he is blocking shipping. Edit: I googled the United Nations Law of the Sea which can be downloaded in pdf here: https://www.un.org/depts/los/convention_agreements/texts/unclos/unclos_e.pdfArticle 60 is clear that seasteads which are outside territorial waters are still under the jurisdiction of the coastal state if within the EEZ. I would say he needs to move to more than 200 miles offshore to be out of Thai jurisdiction. Article 60
Artificial islands, installations and structures in the exclusive economic zone
1. In the exclusive economic zone, the coastal State shall have the exclusive right to construct and to authorize and regulate the construction, operation and use of:(a) artificial islands; (b) installations and structures for the purposes provided for in article 56 and other economic purposes;(c) installations and structures which may interfere with the exercise of the rights of the coastal State in the zone. 2. The coastal State shall have exclusive jurisdiction over such artificial islands, installations and structures, including jurisdiction with regard to customs, fiscal, health, safety and immigration laws and regulations.3. Due notice must be given of the construction of such artificial islands, installations or structures, and permanent means for giving warning of their presence must be maintained. Any installations or structures which are abandoned or disused shall be removed to ensure safety of navigation, taking into account any generally accepted international standards established in this regard by the competent international organization. Such removal shall also have due regard to fishing, the protection of the marine environment and the rights and duties of other States. Appropriate publicity shall be given to the depth, position and dimensions of any installations or structures not entirely removed. 4. The coastal State may, where necessary, establish reasonable safety zones around such artificial islands, installations and structures in which it may take appropriate measures to ensure the safety both of navigation and of the artificial islands, installations and structures. 5. The breadth of the safety zones shall be determined by the coastal State, taking into account applicable international standards. Such zones shall be designed to ensure that they are reasonably related to the nature and function of the artificial islands, installations or structures, and shall not exceed a distance of 500 metres around them, measured from each point of their outer edge, except as authorized by generally accepted international standards or as recommended by the competent international organization. Due notice shall be given of the extent of safety zones. 6. All ships must respect these safety zones and shall comply with generally accepted international standards regarding navigation in the vicinity of artificial islands, installations, structures and safety zones. 7. Artificial islands, installations and structures and the safety zones around them may not be established where interference may be caused to the use of recognized sea lanes essential to international navigation. 8. Artificial islands, installations and structures do not possess the status of islands. They have no territorial sea of their own, and their presence does not affect the delimitation of the territorial sea, the exclusive economic zone or the continental shelf.

France Passes Bill to Allow Insurance Providers to Invest In Crypto & TokensKnown as “Plan d’action pour la croissance et la transformation des entreprises,” (Pacte) the act reportedly allows insurance providers in France to invest in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) with no limit on the amount of investment.
According FXStreet, a dual provision of the act enables insurers to invest in crypto through specialized professional funds, and allows them to offer life insurance policies exposed to crypto. The new measure will also impact professional capital investment funds.

Poor Elwar Such a shame. I hope this won't smash the dream or hit him too hard financially. Dude is a an inspiration and I tip my hat to him for perusing liberty & sovereignty. Somehow I'm not surprised TPTB crashed the party so easily. Guess you can't just step over the government no matter what loophole you exploit. Hoping he'll bounce from this and BTC will offer a much better opportunity soon.

I also though Elwar had got some kind of clearance from the authorities down there. The situation sounds like deep shit. I agree the Thai government isn't going to do anything drastic as incarceration/death penalty trial if the heroic couple beats it quickly. The issues are cost and unconvenience. Is it sane, or even possible, to settle with the seastead 200 miles off the coast? A sensible "what do I know" analysis tells me it's still in alpha stage, beta at best.
What's more, I suppose that now those two names are on some sort of blacklist, so it might be even wise to consider Thailand an unfriendly region.
I wish you good luck. Keep us posted, Elwar!
