In this analysis:

Quote
$BTC Update

Bullish candle that woke the market,  was hedge short myself 1x got stopped out and still up in BTC

Late shorts got punished and literally knocked out all stops

A great start but still want to see price break/close above previous resistance $8,374+

Happy Friday

via: @Josh_Rager

When looking at the volume profile, it is clear that the road to reach $ 10k is not with such resistance, considering that all Shorts close, an effort made by the bulls can quickly reach that level.

They're almost the same thing - but only if settlement date of the options coincides with that of the underlying future.
Absolutely correct!
I had this expiry equivalence baseline assumption. Having montlhy future expiry, I tought these are dense enlough (do we really need weekly expiry options?)

I agree on the "recycling" bit, but but... they must have hard btc because of physical settlement... so where does the need to recycle come from?

I mean they wanted to "recycle" something on the regulatory/pospects/ authorisation material. Not the bitcoin themselves. Easier to have the oiption end up in an already authorised product to get them faster on the market. I guess.

Edit: I saw the message from Javi on the choice between physical or cash settlement of the options. I don’t know his source, but it looks very odd to me, but everything is possible.
If I know more, I will let you know.
This choice is a bit fishy. Fractional reserves maybe? Tu quoque, Bakkt?

I really don't know.

Hi! W.O. I'm back. Just to announce something. First of all i would like to say that  we can be happy and we can't complain.
You remember this chart?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5182395.msg52377811#msg52377811

So we had this chart here and if you are a trader you could sold right at the local top 11k, where we announced our first major resistance. So if you are a trader you regret nothing! If you are a holder you hold through your good and a bad times and regret nothing! I'm a part trader but mostly hodler. I sold some at this top and today i announce that i bought the first dolar cost average at 7400 usd which is not bad after 11.000 sell. If it drops more i buy more. I don't like to be a bearish too much and don't want to talk much about that. Yes, we are currently bellow the weekly 21 EMA and 20 MA which is kinda bearish but many traders here wanted to get another buy opportunity, to buy cheaper at 8k. So you got even 7300. So your wish came true. I know you don't like CME chart but there was / is a 7200 usd gap and gaps almost always fill.

I hope you listened and bought at 7400 usd. I came back on the 23 October just to announce that i bought at 7.4k because almost all traders were bearish.
But according to comments i don't think many of you bought, but still i hope you did. Like i said before this pump, the key level to watch is between $8.800 and $8900 area.

I don't know which I find more amusing. The giant butt plug? Or the fact that they have not yet unboxed the tower monument that was delivered?

@yefi , first we need to break 8800/8900 , there are 3 resistance lines and then we have descending line higher around 9500.

RU kidding ?

Now that Mr Xi has said the "real" currency war is over crypto and not $USD, no amount of resistance is going to prevent a skyrocketing to the upside. Market just blasted through $8400 where it was trying to correct but didn't get a chance.

....look, just hit 8700. nearly at 9.

Problem is too much demand and not enough coins to satisfy that demand.

VEGETA might show his face tonight!

Good morning gentlemen!

$50 worth of BTC for the first person to successfully post a Vegeta meme when we cross $9,000 again Wink (Bitstamp)

I’m bored, thought it’d be cool to keep people on their toes and play a game Smiley

Edit - Please post screenshot of Bitstamp price to prove as my good friend fillippone says ‘trespassing of $9,000’

As I am not a programmer nor expert in crypto, I have arrived at HODLing some 1% (of my net), the minimum that JJG suggests above.  1% is probably close to what I understand BTC to be.  Risks and rewards are both high.  1% is the right amount for me in that if BTC price craters, it changes very little for me.  If it climbs to a nice ATH, well great!

If you're only willing to put 1% of your money in something, it's definitely not an 'investment'.  A high risk, pump and dump scam maybe, but only willing to risk 1% is not an investment.  To me the word investment implies you actually have confidence in what you're purchasing, and 1% is not confidence.  That would be gambling, not investing (from the relative viewpoint of the individual).

Actually, according to my economics 101 class the only investment a private person can make is purchase of real estate, everything else is consumption.

So they can only invest in something they do not own.

You own real estate don't you?

You rent/lease real estate from the government.

Try not paying your "rent" some time and see if you own it.

Guys, don't get traped on your emotions. Traders don't do that. Whales use noob's emotions to trick them into fomo or panic sell. When we were higher at 12k and 11k many of you wanted 8k but when it droped to 8k suddenly almost no one wanted to buy anymore. I tried to warn you. I said at 7.4 you got your gift, a buying opportunity that you wished for. But instead many users talked about shorting and bearish things. And now after this pump many of you got emotional again.

#nohomo

I too want to see such a video. I imagine it would bring in much more money than a few Dash they were trying to extort from me  (hey dumbasses, the government has been extorting money from me much longer, work a bit harder next time...at least send a Navy). Do they award the Oscar for such videos? It would likely surpass Avatar.

The video would consist of me opening the Bitcoin charts and watching the price shoot up. Giving me great pleasure.
