I dont disagree with Schiff underlining there are real losses to working wages,  the Dollar lost alot of value compared to its prior peak values.   Its no longer usable as a saving instrument for most people, the largest entities on the planet still trade Dollar debt because of primary dealer advantages its an uneven game (china tried to illicitly double up their seats to access to that kind of buying) and the smallest players lose the most such as the common workers.
The whole deal would have fallen over had it not been for technology making up some of the losses to large government + this over subsidy to finance generally die to the banks servicing of that large debt.   Theres no way Schiff is right on everything or anyone else, but its quite obvious we dont have a proper capitalist system anymore and he serves a purpose making that clear to more people then otherwise might notice I guess.

We have robber barons crushing out the middle class everywhere they can do it.

Lots of ways to do it.

iPhone = investment killer

cost for a family of four 5k a year to buy and run them . many middle class families do this.

last poll on what is more important pc or cell phone.

vote was 70% cell phone.

most people do not understand the cost to them.

just get an iphone free with verizon or at+t

that free phone costs close to 1200 with the contract.

family of four 4800 a year.

so many replace the phones every new model.

tag on an internet and cable deal for the home and you are pushing 6-7k a year.

all kind of needed to keep up 🆙.

I go for 1200 a year as i have three cellphones for mining. wife has a cell phone so four phones and i buy replacements every two-three years. cost 400 a year. so 1600 for phones which earn mining profits. higher than 1600. so my phones and my pcs and my mining gear turn profit.

I would think many people cant say that.

Those people can't be helped. They are broke and have no wealth for a reason.

I buy 3-4 year old used or refurbed Android unlocked phones for a small fraction of their new price.

My SO and I are both still on the Pixel 2. Yeah the Pixel 2, from like 2015 or so? That I bought refurbed for $250/ a phone at the time. Batteries still rock solid, cameras work great, and give all the speed and functionality we could ever need.

Will only upgrade when these phones die.

Our phone plan is $42/mo.

This is the way.

i typically keep mine till the security updates stop, which seems to average 3 or 4 years. after that i might repurpose it for something else.

i also destroy old phones, aint gonna turn in i dont trust nuthin.

iPhone every year and 2 Starbucks coffees every day = about 5000 a year.

all my 4 phones and homemade coffee every day = about 1600 a year.

I purchased 300000 worth of gpus in 2017 to 2021. I got 4500 in rebates from Retailmenot and coupon cabin and 10000 in rebate on my credit cards for point programs. I paid 0 interest on all those purchases.
so 14,500 in rebates and no interest.

Frankly my 'wealth' would be 100,000 less if I did not get rebates on cc's and rebate programs. Since 1987
It would be 25,000 less if I only went to Starbucks to get coffee. Instead of making it from reverse osmosis water and decent coffee only when it is on sale at supermarket.

Say $6.99 a bag of coffee not on sale and $2.99 on sale.  Make sure to buy 12 bags when it goes on sale to last till next sale.

That move alone has been worth more than 1 BTC as I have been doing it since 1996

Updates to the base OS stopped a few years ago, but we still get the sec updates. And we still get Google android app updates.

The interesting thing is that these Pixel 2 phones have not slowed down one bit from all the updates, they are still as fast as the day we got them.

I'm not as extreme as you, but close. I always buy new phones, and quite expensive ones, but I keep them for a very long time -- basically until they either die or can't do what I want. I currently have a Huawei P30 Pro (bought new for $900 in 2019). After 3.5 years it still feels like new, battery also feels like new (I'm quite puzzled by this -- how is there no degradation after 3.5 years?), its specs are great (AMOLED, 8 GB RAM / 256 GB storage), and its cameras are awesome (5x optical zoom, ultra-wide, good s/w). The way I see it, this phone should last for at least 3 more years. Still receiving security updates.

Had to think of you.

30 mixed sized eggs from an upmarket supermarket was in our big monthly delivery.

£5. Thought that was an eggs-elent deal!

The rest of the shop was as much my first house's monthly mortgage payment used to be though.  Shocked

That's great, good to hear!

On a side note:

There are a lot of things in this world that people can own that could be considered a 'status symbol', but IMO, having the latest and greatest iPhone (or Apple watch) is not one of them.

I mean, it's a fkn phone ffs.

If you live in a place where people are truly impressed by the latest iPhone or Apple watch, then that's just really sad in my mind.

Yes, very true. There are people who just have to own the latest iPhone, but not for the tech or innovation, but mainly to show off to others how cool they are. Phone case manufacturers even put holes on the back of their iPhone cases to show off the Apple logo. I have colleagues who are quite poor and in debt, yet still buy $1000+ iPhones/Androids every year using monthly installments (no cash to pay upfront). It's just so sad to have to own an iPhone to feel cool...

Do we like all the unknown accounts posting all the news and pics we all already have seen on twitter for ourselves??

Or do we only like them when the OG's post them in here  Grin

I agree with the rest of nutildah's post too. Newbies reposting stale memes or arguing cloudy points in broken English shouldn't be awarded if they don't add some value to the discussion.

Wow philipma1957 and you guys are nailing it… for me I don’t know but I guess I’m really stupid in this regard due tomy own fault.

Well I bought my first iPhone 5 in 2012 (from Nokia to iPhone) and used it for four years until 2016 and upgraded to iPhone 7. But since then Apple spoiled me… now I have been upgrading to the latest model almost every year and losing $500-$600 in exchange.

I don’t know but my work place and my circle are all brand conscious dudes (none of them in bitcoin, except for one or two) so not upgrading to the latest iPhone kinda feels left out.

Just recently upgraded to iPhone 14 from a perfectly working 13 and wasted $490 for the device + protector and case another $50.

Clearly this is not the way.

what is £5 about $6 ?

we get 1 dozen for $5-6

But ours are all sorted none of that mixed weight Grin Grin

I purchased Jumbo 12 for $5.79 about a week ago.

at the moment here is best price  for a dozen  large eggs.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Eggland-s-Best-Vegetarian-Grade-AA-White-Eggs-Large-12-Ct/10324125?athbdg=L1100

$4.88

@ shahzadafzal

yeah get someone hooked on a product they buy over and over again.

back in 2012 intel i5 cpu was a decent cpu and I had my Mac mini business modding and selling them on ebay.

I still. have working 2012 Mac mini's that can do decent work.

Apple realized that the pc business was not going to need constant upgrades and had already developed 2 things for you to buy over and over and over.

Ipads and Iphones.

iPads and iPhones need quick replacement.

Mac minis don't I am typing on a 2018 Macmini it will be good till 2025-28. I use external samsung ssds as boot drives.

https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-Portable-SSD-1TB-MU-PC1T0T/dp/B0874XN4D8/ref=sr_1_4?

attach 2 of them and use a third as cold storage of the boot drive. you end up getting close to 10 years on a Mac mini.

apple hates this.

rant below:

I have a lot of linux and windows builds for mining/gaming and I was a bit too old to ever be into gaming.

As I was 15 in 1972 and played pinball more than gaming.

But from 2012 on I built 2 gpu card rigs to mine and game. Still have them.

And 2016 motherboards and cpus are fine to mine with and still do some lite gaming.

PC industry hates this, but not as much as they hate Mr V of an unnamed coin.

That cocksucker did more harm to PC industry than anyone. He snuffed 23-25 million a day in mining income which was constantly rolling back into the pc /gaming industry. He hurt a lot of people. Maybe more than the real meth has hurt.

I also have that model, except that it's not the pro version, but it works perfectly well with 6GB of RAM and it's about as old as yours. I can only say that it is still in perfect condition, that I have never had any problems with it and that I really don't need to change it for at least another 3 years. Regardless of the fact that Chinese products are mostly considered to be of poor quality (which they mostly are), they also know how to make very high-quality things.

Smart watches from Huawei are also top-notch, especially in terms of battery autonomy, top-quality case and protective glass.
