If anybody is interested in buying an L3+ Jan batch for 0.3 BTC + shipping send me a PM. I prefer selling to another forum member than going through ebay.
Some tips...

I recommend you do a proper sales thread in the marketplace computer hardware section.

Photos of the hardware with a piece of paper and your name on it.

And be ready to accept payment through a escrow service.

A new one isn't supposed to be coming for a while I thought.

Thanks, I just created post there. Lowered the price to $3400. I had checked the marketplace before and saw nothing relevant, failed to see the "computer hardware" sub Smiley

I think they will use s9 und l3 so long as thez are profitable like now. It make no sense that they sell new models at the moment in my eyes.

To add onto that, from an engineering standpoint how would they go beyond 504 MH/s on the L3+? By adding more chips, by making a breakthrough in their tech for higher hashrate out per chip? If they were to double the hashrate by doubling the chips, wouldn't they also try to double the price based on their costs? At the moment there are great ways to make a higher profit than just mining Litecoin, but to ask a common miner/consumer to spend upwards of $3000 at their site is a stretch for them.

If I had to guess I would say once a competitor unveils a decent alternative that forces Bitmain's hand. Also to look at it from another perspective, do we really want the tech that we and even they own to become obsolete that much faster?

they are selling on Ebay for between £4800-5000, i really want to keep but i think the smart decision is to sell and then reinvest money after RIO into coins?

sooo not sure what to do, if the price explodes i will be annoyed, but at the same time may have 100 coins...Sad

Be careful selling on eBay. There are a lot of scammers buying Antminers and returning them. eBay will ALWAYS side with the buyer.

Screw eBay.

I love how this forum has it's own marketplace, and that using a trusted escrow service here is better than using eBay, a multi-billion dollar company.

If you are looking for an alternative, my pool GigaRho is an auto-switch profit that has payouts into one converted crypto such as BTC, LTC. As someone who has owned L3+s for a while now I created a private pool that allowed me to find coins that were more profitable to mine than just Litecoin. Instead of being paid out in 65+ currencies to manage, it just sends you the one you want. No pressure at all to try it if you don't feel convinced, just wanted to let you know an option that is out there. Its pretty easy to run the numbers, but ultimately its what works best for you.

Is it worth to buy L3 miner at current difficulty and expect profit from it
what will be return on investment

depends...i'm at 50% to the IRS and state tax rate (40% irs and 10% state tax)

ie that 50% is gone if it goes into equip or not

I also can get the 5-year depreciation on equipment ...compressed....all the same year 25% off what I KNOW I will pay in real $$$

for taxes in USA

so that cuts my risk down to 25% over just paying the IRS 50%

so in my case for 25% risk....I get a unit...for that price in real $$$ from what I'd lose anyway (more or less)

now

as a newbie...you take your hard earned $$$ and buy a miner you get the 25% equip deduction like me if you make enough on taxes  you need to pay to
get that taken off taxes owed in real $$$ this year

the other 75% is ALL RISK

myself, the bitmain units ARE NOT even at my above angles WORTH IT for the March orders (also notice the fine print they don't have to ship any till after April 12th

this is, IMHO, a nice hedge for bitmain to mine the units should they have another 4-6 week pump in LTC or scrypt pow prices...like when they held my miners for 4-6 weeks

on a 'firmware error' when the price pumped to 50 bucks  for LTC and the units arrived wit Jan 2017 firmware on them, lol )

So, just saying, I'm just mining what I have and am in HODL mode until at least say June of 2018

In the object of fairness, I did get some 5 obelisk sc miner units, on a hedge that the price would dump for BTC in Summer of 2017 (not my wisest move. don't ya know)

but I just squeaked by with 20/20 hindsight and really needed the equip deduction of the obelisks, so my ego can take the hit on the misplaced hedge of BTC dropping and

me getting equip as a hedge)

but, for the most part, I see Bitmain, doing the same game it has in the past....the 3-4 months before these units ship bitmain will run up the difficulty in LTC (probably) or

scrypt-pow (maybe) by 30 to 50% before these units even ship...even with an LTC say price pump...you'd at best (again IMHO, I know zip) be just trading crypto in

for crypto out at best....scraping by an ROI...

thus crypto for equip at this point in time (any equip) is a risk...so...keep that in mind...but I'm not doing it with bitmain products at this time, even thou my risk

is probably 25% over...just looks too dubious to me with them mining the stuff till march/april 2018..seems rigged

(esp if they bring out better equip in march/april) so I will wait and navel gaze till then Smiley

It is if you buy it from bitmain and do not support these people trying to resell them for 2-3x what they are worth. The last price I was given was around $1600 from bitmain, yet people are still trying to sell them for more than double that. It is ridiculous.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

I'm waiting on an L3+ I ordered when they were ~1500 for march delivery and used a coupon to help a little.  Anyway, when they listed another batch last night, they included a batch for $2378 that ships withing 10 working days.  That's a bunch of BS to come out with an immediate batch when you already have people waiting, also they didn't give the people waiting an opportunity to pay more for faster delivery.

Is bitmain liquidating all of their personal L3+'s?

Not their "personal" units. They are flooding the market to destroy the upcoming competition from GMO and a couple smaller threats. They will send difficulty through the roof and profitability in the toilet so the fledgling start up GMO cannot survive. All these poor ignorant morons that are flooding into mining right now are going to get a very rude awakening.

You only live once....if you do it right, once is enough.

I was surpiresed to see the 10-day shipping table Cheesy

Amazing what you can do when you got a monopoly and no one can do shit against you...

I still support Bitmain because their units are getting better over time (default %) but from a customer value standpoint we are clearly scum to them haha
