I have 7000 onions I purchased from novaexchange.com but afraid to update my wallet to try deepvault feature. Is there an online guide that can teach me how to update it without messing up my deeponion wallet?

Sorry for not trusting it's just that I have lots of money invested on this and don't want to risk losing my onions.

Backup your wallet.dat file, and your private keys FIRST - Put them somewhere safe. Then, In my case all that I did was I download the new version, overwrote the existing .exe and launched. It was as simple as that.

By the private keys do you mean just the password I chose? or is it like in bitcoin wallets where they give you 10 random words? because i don't remember if I got any of those.

When a user does a backup, I think the private key is already in the backup, right?

Sorry @Chrisjay29 you registered on the 30th September 2017. DeepOnion airdrop participants must have been registered on or before the 1st of September.

You can still join deeponion.org and participate in the community and there are bounties and tasks with rewards which anyone can try
plus competitions. I will be starting another next week some time.

Also as @themonkii said to another the airdrop participation rules may be relaxed further again in the future so it is always worth increasing your posts and gaining rank anyway

Not sure about all the numbers but I do remember there being 285 participants. As a 2 star Member I received 664. A junior member would of received about 10% less. Then as you move up in ranks you get about 10% more for each higher rank. So a full member received 664+ roughly 10%, a senior member 664 +20% ect.

Then Go to HELP>> Debug Window
Click on Console
Type dumpprivkey Onion Address and press enter
It should show your private key too you

There is always a possibility of DeepOnion being able to be stored in Nano Ledger S in the future. But I don;t think that is advisable because doing that. That's because a person would not be able to stake his ONIONs, missing the chance while the APR is yet still at 10% in staking DeepOnion within the 1st year.

Most because they do not do 10 valid posts with 50 characters in each a week.

IT worked!!! Got my private key!!

Ok so let me know if I'm right. All I have to do now is backup my .dat file and private key and that's it? I can now update my deeponion to newest version and not risk losing my onions?

Yea just make sure you keep that .dat file.  Also when you upgrade the wallet it will automatically install itself correctly and everything should show up normally.
