I agree with your outlook but price/volume is a good indicator of more and more people taking notice of DeepOnion.  Ultimately, adding to our community is our runway to greater things so thats why price/volume is important now despite you and I having no intention of selling our Onions.

With the fluctuating coin releases (due to airdrops), the ability to get free coins (from airdrops), current bounties etc... I think price is a far too unstable / improper measure of interest.

A correct metric would be the social activity - Official forums, airdrop participants or even this thread.

Social activity could also been seen in the same light as price is viewed. Once the airdrops are completed, the true strength of the community is displayed. The members that persist after the airdrop are the true members - those that are in not just for the monetary gain. The activity on DeepOnion forum suggests that we have a great and fast-growing community.

The price movement is what always caught people's attention, just look at how Bitcoin price cause FOMO recently most people don't want to miss out on the next big thing but don't want to be early adopter too

I think that is a good approach to viewing DeepOnion from a wider scope. Of course- DO community is phenomenally involved, from every angle. I think there is definitely going to be some exciting price movements post-airdrop!

some people are taking advantage of price variation to gain more.  buy low, sell high.  aside from airdrops, people can earn through coin trading.  the more variation in price, the more coins the trader can earn.  this is not the case for deeponion, but for other coins as well.

Many people are overburdened by price movements. A pure waste of time, we are far from the real price and from the very end of the airdrop.
It would be much better for this energy to be spent on marketing and the future of a coin.

Some of us are both traders and hodlers.

I hodl one big part, but using price movement to get even more onions.

The more movement of price (up/down/up/down) there is, more will people trade, and it will seems as if everyone is fixated on price

When people see prices falling, they should actually buy more of these coins, but unfortunately 95% do opposite and only 5% do what is supposed to be done and win.  These 5% have money to buy more for significant drops in prices (of good coins).  Even for the members who hold DeepOnion till the end of 40th airdrop, they will be having powers in decision making and will be like among board of directors in a company.  But remember you should have money in hand always (for buying more on drops and for expenditures)
