@citronick, is there any menu with you Onda D1800 mb? Mine came without it and now the second and third pci-e slots just do not work. Any idea?

I started working on it last night - just back from my overseas travels.

In BIOS, enable 4G support.

In smOS... PCI slot 1 doesn't seem to work - it could be because I am using P106 to test.

However in Windows 10, all slots are working except for slot 1 - my guess is that its expecting a normal GPU with video-out - will test this shortly.

Will post updates today.

I hope Phil got his package soon too.

This Monday is a holiday .  So tues at best.

Thanks for the prompt response. I will check bios later. But I really suspect that this is the mb quality control issue...

This worked on my Zotac P106 x 6, on older H81 mobo.

Before only 4-5 GPUs were recognized using latest NVIDIA drivers - then again, risers are probably also the likely culprit

Apply this P106 specific NVIDIA package - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-_jcpU1s5dgejJJZzBTWVFJYzQ/view?usp=sharing

You can push it to core 100, mem 800, PL 99 to achieve ETH 22-23MHs

on smOS - I got all 6 x GPUs started but needs a GPU with video output on the 1st PCI slot.

In my case, I want to use the P106-100 on this board.

If I use all P106 on this board, I get the following results - so back to square one.

If I take out the first GPU and replace it with another NVIDIA GPU with video out (an old EVGA 750ti 1051ti SC) - looks OK on smOS bootup but screen went black after smOS registration process.

It didnt look successful since I didnt see the rig appearing in the smOS dashboard.

The only time this P106s worked flawlessly was on Windows 10 with a special P106 NVIDIA setup package.

I will use the mSata SSD and get WIndows 10 running tomorrow.

If time permits, I will also get a 470 x 6 and 1070 x 6 rigs to use this board.

Rig name: PP2 running Claymore 10 on NH ETH
OC Mode: 5 x P106, core 100, 800 mem, 99 PL

Been a while since I posted, life has been busy, taken ages to catch-up with these threads, nice going all.

I need some advice from a Biostar TB250-BTC Pro MB user as I’m not having fun … hoping someone may have a pointer …

I’m trying to get five Zotac 1070 8gb Minis to run … Updated to the latest BIOS, installed Win10 Pro. Mining mode is enabled and PCI set to Gen 2. All goes fine with two GPUs, but when I add a further one (or two) it hangs, doesn’t boot and all I get to look at is a nice blank screen. The PSU is an EVGA 1000w and I’m using powered risers along with 8mb ram and a M2 slot SSD.

I’ve read/found many different set-ups for these boards that I’m hoping someone might have an idea. Some say you need to power the molex connector on the board by the PCIe sockets, and others rave about how plug and play they are on one PSU.

Well … I’ve certainly plugged … and had a play … but no luck. I expect I’ve done everything except what is actually required!

Suggestions or real life experience info welcome!

Just wanted to let concerned people know that I am back posting from my main account, which was nicely restored by Cyrus. Still don't know exactly what happened here. Took a while to get it sorted, but I'll spare you the details.

A hint for people here: leave a trace on the forums of yourselves posting your BTC address somewhere. The admins use this as a proof it's really you. There's a sticky post in the Meta subforum explaining the procedure to follow if your account's been compromised and/or locked (EDIT - here is is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0). Please read it and be aware of what will be asked, should you find yourself in that situation in the future.

Being prepared in these cases is worth a lot, if you care about your account! :-)

Alright, back to altcoins!

I believe you need to enable 3G decoding in the BIOS....  I have run into these issues myself.

You should power the molex on the board, and the risers if you have any.  Its good practice.   Do not daisy chain them, remember, you are pushing up to 75W per card through the PCIE connector.

Running the M.2 SSD may be an issue, depends on how many other options your board has and how many PCIE lanes are free.   I suggest disabling all unnecessary hardware, such as sound, extra lan, serial ports, extra USB ports, etc.  Just enable what you need for the mining necessary hardware only.

Hello everyone,

Has anyone here experimented with the immerson cooling technology from 3M? https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/novec-us/applications/immersion-cooling/

Seems to me a very effective way of cooling  and leads me to many questions:
  • If a is water block system can be filled with such liquid?
  • Or is is available in small quantities to small miners?

Greetings

Novec  is the chemical

it is not available on small scale.

And you don't put it into a waterblock

you dip your gear into a tank filled with it.

the pipes carry off the heat see below

Looks like patience is a virtue...

with a GPU w/video-out (EVGA-1050ti-SC) on Slot #1 and 5 x P106 - the board works normally - on smOS Linux.

Will continue to work on RX470, R370, R9-Nanos, 1080ti and 1070s next.

Quite a variance in hash rate on your P106s? GPU#0 looks significantly higher than the rest.

Quite a variance in hash rate on your P106s? GPU#0 looks significantly higher than the rest.

OC mode applied - 100 core, 800 mem and PL 99

GPU 1 in PCI slot 0 is EVGA 1050ti SC

the rest GPU 2 to 5 are Zotac P106-100

these GPUs consumed very little power, and with XMR mining even lower.

I believe you need to enable 3G decoding in the BIOS....  I have run into these issues myself.

You should power the molex on the board, and the risers if you have any.  Its good practice.   Do not daisy chain them, remember, you are pushing up to 75W per card through the PCIE connector.

Thanks, I couldn't find a setting for 3G, but powering the board via the molex seems to have done the trick. I've not had a board where I've had to do this before, the other x8 Asrock R2.0 Pro BTC boards work flawlessly with just powered risers.

on smOS - I got all 6 x GPUs started but needs a GPU with video output on the 1st PCI slot.

In my case, I want to use the P106-100 on this board.

If I use all P106 on this board, I get the following results - so back to square one.
....

If time permits, I will also get a 470 x 6 and 1070 x 6 rigs to use this board.
...

with a GPU w/video-out (EVGA-1050ti-SC) on Slot #1 and 5 x P106 - the board works normally - on smOS Linux.

Will continue to work on RX470, R370, R9-Nanos, 1080ti and 1070s next.

There is a lot of potential in many forms of liquid cooling, Novec or Mineral oil cooling works well if you have the equipment to pump it, i did a gamer rig years ago in mineral oil, the hardest part about it was dealing with heat pockets in the tank, i used a huge fish tank for my build and unless you had some sort of moving current of liquid around every part on the computer, you would get micro pockets of intense heat occasionally.. i ended up burning up multiple things from these random heat pockets....

I personally have multiple rigs on water cooling and it works beautifully, but the problem with it is the cost of the water blocks and lack of them on certain models of GPU's, i have one rig running all 4 GPU's off the Kraken G10's that did rather well at keeping the core temps below 50c while mining running through a 1080mm radiator, but i have issues with the VRM on those units running very warm due to lack of cooling, so i had to replace every fan on the kits with delta fans with 3x the CFM of airflow and that only brought he temps to around the temps of a stock air cooled unit.. so that setup has drawbacks of its own...

Personally if profits and GPU's were capable to be used for mining for multiple years easily for good profits and i had the room to do it, i would create a cooling system similar to the twitch streamers "streamerhouse". Its a twitch streamer group of streamers that live out a huge 6 bedroom house out of Orlando, FL and rotate streaming to provide 24/7 twitch streaming... When they first moved into that house, the house a/c system was unable to keepup with the amount of heat that all those gaming and content computers produce and they were trying to reduce the electric bill for cooling the house, so they converted over to a full house passive cooling system. They piped all the coolant from the computer systems with commercial pex line outside to the swimming pool. They have hundreds of feet of copper just coiled up submerged in the pool. The entire system has no radiators to worry about, just using the pool as a water to water cooling source, the only drawback to the system they run is its incredibly difficult to burp all the air out of the system during water changes and it takes a lot of distilled water to fill the entire system. So they basically have no computer fans cooling the CPU's and GPU's on the systems they run except the basic case fans the cases came with for basic airflow for the motherboard and storage drives.

on smOS - I got all 6 x GPUs started but needs a GPU with video output on the 1st PCI slot.

In my case, I want to use the P106-100 on this board.

If I use all P106 on this board, I get the following results - so back to square one.
....

If time permits, I will also get a 470 x 6 and 1070 x 6 rigs to use this board.
...
...

Looks like patience is a virtue...

with a GPU w/video-out (EVGA-1050ti-SC) on Slot #1 and 5 x P106 - the board works normally - on smOS Linux.

Will continue to work on RX470, R370, R9-Nanos, 1080ti and 1070s next.

nice I have a 1050 ti  and 4 1070 water blocks and 1 1080 ti water block

After 24 hours, the board is holding well, I cranked the OC on these guys and I'm amazed to shit the whole rig is barely 500watts - amazing.

If all goes well, I will upgrade the older Nano rigs with Gen 1 risers - I am prepping the old ETH rigs (Nanos and 480) to sell Cryptonite at NH.

Anyone interested in used gen 1 Asrock H81 Pro BTCs - its tried and tested 24x7 for nearly 2 years --  Grin
while I wait for the your board .  I may buy this one

put in an i5 8400

those cards have a nice price but I would prefer something on the level of a 1070 vs a 1060 for a mining card at ther $270 price the charge for those.

I have seen 8GB rx 570 cards for $265 lately , not as good wattage and heat control though for that tiny board.

Are you are worried about putting nanos so close together ? I have 40 nanos dual mining eth and DCR and they run Hot as hell even in my new well cooled garage
73 degrees or so at 55% fan.

On the flip side 400 series cards run at 70 degrees 40% fan, I guess its not a huge difference.  I would not like to place them so close together though.

The Nanos are modded with Heliox ROMs, -100mv undervolted and slightly overclocked, served me well close to 2 years now, ROIed at least 2 times ... glad I kept the Nanos - its a powerful ZEC GPU, come life after ETH.

My GPU farm is in a high-ceiling leased warehouse, so cooling is pretty much under control. I can put them Nanos with razor thin spacing and get them cranked up within 70s temps - with back fans.

The warehouse has 17 units - floor fans - blowing upwards to circulate heat towards the exhaust. I use 6 x huge industrial metal fans to redirect and exhaust out the hot air and aided by 2 x air extractor/blower units when temps hits the threshold.

Will post pix if possible - but my co-investors are paranoid about sharing pix of the farm on the Internet.... LOL. I will take some pix discreetly.

I noticed that GPU and mobo pricing are looking "normal" at Amazon and Newegg.... my suppliers in China are also doing more bundles now - I suspect they are overstocked.
