I'm so discouraged....and looking for an alternate solution. I was even considering going back to using risers on  a known board. Then, I found the Onda B250 BTC-D8P is available in the US :

https://www.waikey.com/item/onda-b250-btc-d8p-8-pci-e-slots-motherboard-8-gpu-mining/

Not sure if I should trust this site.

That is an interesting looking board ...

Just wanted to add, you could buy the onda mobo in a 4U case, fully pre-built (just add gpu) for 500 usd: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/mining-machine-ETH-machine-4u-8xgpu_60708486305.html

It costs $110 to ship to my place though.

that case is 75 cm wide  or close to 30 inches.

does not pay to buy unless you are living in asia.

I was getting 10 boards for 1427

so :

143 ----  board
207 ---- 1200  watt plat atx psu
  55 ----  pentium g 4400
  30  ---- used ram stick

435 ---- net

500 plus 100 to ship

600 net   cost me 165 extra and I will be using 100 extra watts in fans to cool that unit off.

loud as fuck.

I will use  1070 hybrids and 1070 ti hybrids with a spots wood rack for around 100

so 535 net  and much less noise  and I will save at least 100 watts on fan power.

now cheap power and a warehouse it is  a maybe to buy it.

oh coins dropped to 13,300

Bitcoins at 1280. crazy how you can just lose hundreds of thousands in just 24 hours.

Not like I was going to cash anything in anyways. Still just a crazy thing to see. I'm holding for the long haul, don't care if it drops back to 7k

Is there a special trick to get the ONDA B250 BTC-D8P MoBo Ver.1 to work?

( Note: I'm getting the same symptoms Storx described on the 6 slot ONDA. I tried clicking the the button he used to resolve the issue. No luck)

Do I need to install a VGA driver or something else?

Is there an online manual ?( I couldn't find one of the ONDA website.)

Been struggling for 2 days with the ONDA B250 BTC-D8P MoBo Ver.1 MoBo....

SNIP.....

EDIT: i have looked for documentation; cant find any Sad

Thx. Smiley
I have a couple G4400 CPUs on other MoBos. I'll move one to the ONDA and start over.
Fingers crossed.

Well changing to the G4400 didn't make a difference. Just like before, The fans on the GPUs and the CPU start spinning and nothing else happens. Not even a light on the Ethernet port.

So, I'm giving up and sending it back. Am looking at alternative boards ...but likely have to go with risers.

I had the same behavior with a Delta PSU in combination with a Biostar TB250 BTC pro Mobo... the fans start spinning but no boot. I managed to start it by slowly removing the 4 pin CPU connector from the Mobo and put it back, all this during the rig being connected to power...
You're more courageous than I am. Smiley

What about the PSU quality , how much power can it handle , what about the quality of the cable and connectors ?

If you are a long term holder - you should not care too much on the day to day price, instead care about year to year price.

If you are a short term holder - you should sell when high, buy when low.

I agree with Citronick,

I am more of a hybrid investor... i sit down everynight before bed, i sell the days profit in BTC at whatever price it is at and then i place a buyback order for the same amount at 3-5% less. roughly about 30% of them ever cash out on me, up tell recent i had hundreds of orders live on bittrex, but with the new rules they expired because older than 28days Sad

Then i sell my BTC when its pulling back from a new record high. This is how i milk a few % of profit out of my mining gear.... anytime i sell at a new record high, i place a buyback in at 10% below what i bought it, and nearly everytime i get back in the game with a 10% gain.

Interesting idea,

Phill or Citronick,

Know if those CPU blade cards can be ran in multiples on a motherboard?

I ask because with the profits on Monero, its been temping to get into more CPU mining...My 1950x has been running around $4-5/day all week......

don't have 1 board no less 2 boards to try it.

you need two boards  and you would pull a card from board a to board b.

since I don't know the chipset  and bios  it is possible.

but extremely unlikely since the chipset would need  to be programmed that way.

I stopped cpu mining of xmr  do you  have  a link  to the xmr software you use to mine your ryzen?  and a bat file?

Lets say you could, what would be the point? A Ryzen 7 is making $4 a day, how much do you think a lowly ULV Dual core cpu would make? And EVEN IF you can get multiple Ryzen 7 level "CPU Blade cards" with the CPU's on proper cooling and the right kind of power delivery in there, I cant imagine them costing anything less than the cost of Ryzen 7 + 100$ so about $400, so, again, why?
Why not a Vega 56? Or two RX 570?

I don't think it could do more then 2 cpu's  and that is if it is  a server style  chipset.

meanwhile

so I download  xmr-stak   and all I want it to do is  my cpu  and now the new version  does  both cpu and gpu.  I only did xmr with nicehash.
but I do have a good cpu a ryzen 1800x   so any help  with a bat file  that only does the cpu?

https://www.theitmart.com/system/servers/other/1u-rackmount/quanta-windmill-open-compute-f03c-2-node-1u-rack-server-s-594

They may be old but they do Monero pretty well, per many reports on servethehome.

I think it was that same company had an entire RACK of the next generation after the Windmills up for sale at one point (45 1/3d width blades = 90 cpus AND included the power supplies setup) for a little over $4000 (no CPU RAM or HD included IIRC).
I didn't pull the trigger once I figured out that it needed 3 x 30 amp 220v feeds, since I only have one such circuit in my current place (I COULD have run 1/3d of it on the single 30 amp circuit I DO have).
Would have made an interesting "grow into it" project.

E5-2650 seems to be the current price/performance "sweet spot" but theitmart is out of those at the moment and I don't know if they'll sell the windmills with no CPU.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

Anyone having problems with Zcoin revenue coming in way under calculator's estimation?

I have using ccminer 2.2.2, I am getting the hashrates I should be, although they are way underreported whether it be miningpoolhub or suprnova.

I keep getting about 35% less rewards each day than I should. It all started a couple weeks ago and I don't know why.

I have verified on every machine that I am getting the hashrates I should and those are the numbers I'm putting in the caluclator.

Any ideas?

I avoid CPU mining.

Focusing on GPU mining and scaling it up is more profitable and worthwhile to do.

Higher end CPU like Ryzen is of course looks good on Monero, and maybe even Neoscrypt but I cant imagine a profitable biz plan for warehouse full of Ryzen rigs.

I know a client who build a 800-node supercomputer using cheap out-of-date Gateway Pentium IIs warehouse sales that he bought at $400 each.... 400 x 800 = 320K investment with opensource Linux program to linkup all the PCs into a giant processing node. So instead of sending their files to Houston to rent a processing time on a super computer, now they do their own processing locally.

I am hoever, interested to build an array of 40 x Samsung S7s mining Monero or 40 x Moonlanders mining Scrypt coins - excitement level is definitely higher  Grin
