Yeah... so I got a little too excited too soon. Definitely have my overclocks well within previous working ranges, and yet after mining for a while cards will randomly start hashing ~100-200 H/s. Very strange... I can exit the miner without it hanging and having to restart, but still, can't be around to monitor the machines.

Will probably pull out the old JJHashRateMonitor modified for CAST and see if that can take care of it, since --ratewatchdog can't fix this problem. We're getting close though!

I had a similar experience. 2 RX Vega 64s on 18.3.4 driver, PCIE set to GEN1, power play tables etc. Rates are good (maybe about 2% better than with cast 0.9.0) and temps are maybe 1 deg C lower. After a few hours though both cards dropped down to ~ 400-500 H/s. I saw there were kernel resets in the miner, but they were unable to restore the full speed (~3900 H/s).

Was able to exit gracefully and restart. Now running without the --ratewatchdog option. My suspicion is that the kernel resets are themselves responsible for the strange rates - these are hashrates (~400-500 H/s per card) I've never had in the past. It could be in the past the miner would hang/system would crash prompted by whatever prompted the initial fall and kernel resets however. More to be learned. Regardless, the implementation of (an eventually working native) option like ratewatchdog is sorely needed, so this initial development is applauded! Hope it continues...
Unfortunately after 2 days of running flawlessly, I began experiencing the rate drop to 200hs or thereabout.
I removed the -ratewatchdog and everything went back to normal.
I made a couple of tests: with and without. Not using the -ratewatchdog is definitively working better for me.
One thing to note is that the developer stated that the -ratewatchdog was experimental.

Hey man I been using CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v11.2 and wish to move to your miner.

I have 6 RX580 cards, the hash rate with his miner is more, not sure if you plan to do update to improve hash rate on non Vega ATI CARDS?

Any news would be great?

hi guys

i just tried the new version 0.92 with my 4 vegas(3x64s1x56). Im hasing around 7900 but the miner freezes everytime after some hours. The LEDs(Powercolour,RedDevil) are still all on but there is no hashing.
While frozen i cant close the miner and i cant shutdown the pc without hard resetting. I also dont get an email due to hashrate drops or miner not mining anymore.
Im using same settings and reg files as on my other rig(which is stable).

windows 10
Gigabyte Board
gpus connected via riser
Adrenalin 18.3.4

Is there an option to check what is causing the crash. Anybody else experiencing such behaviour?

greets

Im having the same issue after i updated to 0.92 version but im still using compute drivers , soft power tables etc... hashrate has gone up on around 15+- on each card but the miner gets stucks sometime its after 3 days some time its after 4 hours .. i will rollback to 0.91 ? IM prety sure its not Virtual memory issue as i have 80gb for 5x cards...

In ver 0.9.2, my VEGAs 56 fan suddenly go above 4000rpm, even 4800rpm. WTF....
In ver 0.8 - 0.9 my vgas often go though 3500-3800rpm ....

Can't remember where I got it from originally, but here it is:
Create a new .bat file (create a txt file and rename to .bat), call it whatever you like. Inside, copy and paste the following (I use vega 64, Devcon and OverdriveNTool, skip that part if not using it:

cd C:\YOURPATHHERE\cast_xmr-vega-win64_080

timeout /t 5

devcon.exe disable "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F"

timeout /t 10

devcon.exe enable "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F"

timeout /t 5

OverdriveNTool.exe -p0UTube -p1UTube -p2UTube -p3UTube

timeout /t 5

@echo off

echo -------------------------------------------------------------------
echo Restarts the miner every 60 minutes //you can set it to your own liking
echo -------------------------------------------------------------------
echo:

set executable=cast_xmr-vega.exe
set commandline=  -G 0,1,2,3 -S POOLHERE:PORTHERE -u YOURWALLETHERE -p x --nonicehash --fastjobswitch %*
set runforseconds=3600
set restartinseconds=20
set /a counter=0
timeout 2
:start
start "cast_xmr-vega" %executable% %commandline%
echo:
echo The program is going to run for %runforseconds% seconds
timeout %runforseconds%
taskkill /f /im %executable%
cd
startup YOURFILENAMEHERE.bat
echo:
echo Restarting the app in %restartinseconds% seconds (%counter%)
timeout %restartinseconds%
set /a counter+=1
echo:
echo:
goto start

Replace everything in Bold with your own info.
Because I use devcon, I run it as an administrator, and then it restarts itself every hour.

Actually upgrading the drivers and not rolling back to the old software could solve your problem.
I did it for me. I had the exact same problem of GPU freezing on the miner, while all the red light were still on, like described by the poster above.
Upgrading to new andrenaline drivers, solved it right away.
And also  I do not use the -ratewatchdog command, because it was creating rate drops...
Anyway: new Andrenalin driver, Cast 9.02, soft play tables 1100, no -ratewatchdog and my rig has been working well with great rate and temps for a few days.

Try that.

Wondering the same thing.

Sumo also forked to Cryptonight-heavy. Not sure if Cast XMR supports it now or not.

Please support Sumo/Heavy algo ASAP.  Stak is so unstable and their config files are a nightmare.

Please support Sumo/Heavy algo ASAP.  Stak is so unstable and their config files are a nightmare.

+1 for this. CastXMR is much more useable than XMR-STAK. Insane amount of profitability on the SumoKoin's cryptonight-heavy algorithm as of the past few hours. Seems like it was very effective in killing all those cryptonight ASICs.

Will you be updating to support Cryptonight-Heavy implementation that SumoKoin just implemented in their fork?
