No.  stratum is not HTTP (so you can't use curl).  Stratum is just a raw TCP connection that passes json back and forth without other kinds of headers.  Use netcat (nc) to script tests:

I've been connected for days now no issues but I woke up this morning and found  my miner mining at the backup pool I have setup. Looks like there has been a hardware failure with our pool server.  Datacenter tech has diagnosed it as being a motherboard issue.  Its currently being worked on/replaced.

I've received a few PMs about whether Eligius orders placed since the price adjustment to .55 price will ship on Monday, the answer is yes.
After Monday, I'll see how much stock is there, but there's another LARGE batch on it's way to me in case I will run out, so you won't wait too long

Everything is in working order as of right now. There are somewhere around 100,000 connections to the pool, server load in the 10-20% area, etc. All pretty normal.
