@bobsag3 Dear friend Matt, would you please once again read an email that we have sent a few minutes ago to you, which is very important to us? Thank you!
He admitted emails tricky with him sometimes, I've barked up that tree a cpl times in the past 2 days, admittedly I forgot about the china trip lol. Then again, the could be checking the wrong address too lol

Honestly. With the current hashing speed needed to ROI I would rather pay something more, and get 2x dual minion boards in an X3 case and the chance to buy additional ones later on at a decent price. That would be better than getting my 3x X-1's

2x dual minion boards in an X3 case
It's technically impossible with current PCB and heatsink.

2x dual minion boards in an X3 case
It's technically impossible with current PCB and heatsink. Do they require a fully specced set of minions for the control board to run? These aren't Lego's they're making here. There is a lot of engineering that goes into designing a piece of hardware such as this and you can't just change it on a whim. Heat dissipation, power management, airflow and countless other things I'm not even aware of. Not to mention the fact that the boards they designed for the X1 are only meant for a single minion chip. It would require a new backplane to be designed, new case would have to be designed and then manufactured... The best solution would be the one I recommended in an earlier post. Now that I know the X-3 will hash with just a single dual hashing board plugged into it, why not offer an option to the X-1 customers of getting half an X-3 with the equivalent number of boards to match our X-1 order? Additionally you could then offer upgrade packages to add more hash boards to the X-3 at a later date.

this. I brought this up to them in person as a better solution, no feedback on it yet.

this. Probably will not happen because BA has invested too much money in the X1 parts. Besides, many of us have already ordered the required PSUs for the compensation units. I am starting to doubt that there will be any serious changes at this point with the X1 or with the compensation plan.

How did they take the suggestion do you feel, being face to face you can tell if they took it in and were going to mull it over lets say or just let it pass by as a good idea but not one they may use. Sorry if this is a stupid question but you have had the face to face contact we have not had.

They took it under consideration- from my view it will be a matter of production and parts- they want to make sure every one gets what they paid for plus the compensation, before anything extra is decided. Pretty fair way of going about it IMHO.

I don't think he was saying it was out of the question, I think it comes down to how much they have once they've made all the purchased units. Similar circumstances are probably why the "surprise" is under wraps. IDEK - maybe I'm an idiot but I have a good feeling.

My guess is the "surprise" is a small scrypt miner, they brought it up once and shut up about it. Never opened pre-orders or let on any other information about it. I am guessing with the leap of technology on scrypt Asics we will get a couple Megahash as a surprise.
The chance of that happening is exactly 0%. My guess is that the "surprise", if it even exists, is that they figured out a substantial efficiency / performance tweak, but they're not 100% sure yet. This could very well be true, if so, it's one of those things they stay tight lipped on so when we actually get shippable units they release this "secret" and make it like it's some big thing and people are so awed by it they forget that we'll never get ROI for about a week.

This would be for Batch 1 customers and maybe Batch 2 if it get's pushed back too much so we're not left hanging for longer than needed. Anyone buying units now would get the regular X1 package. I'm sure there are some people who went in on group purchases and would rather have the separate units so it should be optional.

What ever the surprise is it will probably be like the compensation the customers with 1 x1 are getting. You know, it will cost you more money to receive it.

Shenzhen, 28 November 2013: Black Arrow releases the Preliminary datasheet of the Minion ASIC Shenzhen, 26 September, 2013: Black Arrow is proud to announce that it has upgraded the specifications of its Minion chip to 100 Ghash (up to 128 Ghash when overclocked). Prospero X-1 will scan 100Ghash while using less than 55 Watts and Prospero X-3 will be able to scan an outstanding 2000Ghash while using less than 1050 Watt. I look back at this and laugh since the X1 is now essentially double this while the X3 is now as last reported I think 1400-1500w. And... Please note that February deliveries are limited because we will produce a limited number of wafers. The remaining orders will need to wait 1 month more until the 2nd batch.
lol

lol So they should be on batch 4 now? Who knows, according to the apologists they never had a finished product in the first place so Batch 1 didn't even begin yet. So sad, Black Arrow could've dominated this space if they had something working in February...
