Is there a trick to getting the antminer to hold on to a reassigned static ip?

I go into the Network > Interfaces > Wan > and change the settings to an address on 192.168.1.x that is unassigned on my network, but when I hit save and apply it just hangs.  I've tried a few different times now, waiting 2 min, 5 min, 10 min, and after plugging the cable back into the router, the miner hasn't been reassigned to the new address.  I used the advance ip scanner utility and it still shows the same default address at 192.168.2.xx, which I can now not connect to either.  After shorting the pins to do a hard reset, I can re-connect again on 192.168.2.99.

Any ideas?

you need to change you LAN before change the WAN

LAN tab change to DHCP hit switch > save&apply .  wait a bit

then back to WAN tab change the ip that u want > save&apply

I have seen this caused by the defective PSU not getting enough nice to the blades both or one of them.  also seen this error associated with the error on time server setting or the PSU needing the base charge...

Error log associated with the cgminer status would be greatly appreciated!

If it's mining in the Wi-Fi mode already, the PSU may not be the one but could be the other

Sometimes, if it hangs, I noticed by hitting save the. Bit save and apply worked on time to time but not 100>.

My LAN setting is DHCP Client by default.  If we are to assign a static ip should this be changed to "Static address"?

The problem occurs when it tries to save changes.  I've tried hitting save, then applying the changes later before giving the miner a reboot, and it still hangs.

This isn't a huge problem right now, as it's mining okay on wifi, but I'd still like to move it to the garage and give it a hard wired connection.

When there is nothing wrong with the system, you can change static ip and it will stay even you reboot.  But please pay attention where it gets stuck.  As soon as you hit save and apply, you will see little status thing will show up toward the top. Does it hang where it said applying changes to cgminer?

When you see that, there is a setting issue with your AntMiner. Could be the wrong config data and could be not enough power going in, even it powers on, or could be the PSU problem and so on.

If it's mining in wifi no problem, my guess is in the config setting somewhere

and what is the meaning of this discoloration - working chip temperature is high and caused it? or maybe this issue is because quality of that painting might be not the best?
asking because i've noticed this thing from the moment i've received my Ant's.
thank you,

my impresion was that the discolouration is just that the chips were poorly stamped/printed with the logo, and not an effect of operational heat - but i could be wrong

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

I have been trying to SSH via WiFi on my local network, but I can't seem to connect. I reassigned my two miners to the same subnet as my router with end IPs being 253 and 254, but it never seems to connect. They are connected fine to my router and hashing on a pool, but I cannot SSH, or access the web interface wirelessly. Is there something I'm missing here?

@dropt Thanks for the info. I don't see any discoloration on my chips, but my inductors where really hot when i touched them.(not really scientific but i don't have the right equipment) So i placed some heatsinks on the inductors since that piece of the board doesn't seem to directly benefit from the stock lower heatsink, hopefully lowering the inductor heat will also benefit the voltage regulator since their close to each other. I also noticed temp difference(~4C) between the boards so i've aimed an extra fan to board 1 witch caused the stock fan to drop in speed and neutralized the temp difference between the boards. atm i'm getting about ~2% HW errors, is that acceptable?

@warhawk187 i've run into sort of the same problem Sad
When the miner is hooked up to the ethernet cable i can connect via the wifi ip-address(ssh&webinterface) to my miner, that works perfectly.
As soon as i remove the lan cable i can't connect anymore but the miner will keep mining, so it looks like some sort of firewall issue?

Wow.. fast shipping.. my ordered extenders aren't here yet...

I seem to have quite a few of these.. think they came in the sapphire 7950 boxes I have...

Any issues using two of these per blade?

Thanks

Can someone please explain how to configure the miner in Wi-Fi mode?  It's poorly documented.

I can't get to do so. It won't even find my wifi router. :-(

Thanks,

LAN should ALWAYS be DHCP.  WAN should be static.

Oh, crap. I set WAN to DHCP and now I can't access the miner. Any advice?

Alright - up and running - however I am getting that "hang" on saving cgminer settings..

How the hell do I modify what the PDF states?  Pretty much zero Linux know-how here

ssh into the miner and use vi (a linux text editor) to modify the file. Instructions are in the guide here by user goxed:

That helped!  thanks!

Now - I can save my pool info successfully... reboot, nothing going on... le sigh... killawatt says 100-110 watts of something is goin on.. nothing populated under the miner status page..

thoughts?

NM - good to go..
