community input needed:

Unique names for assets? For example : BLABLA (only issued once)

Or non unique names for assets?

For example: BLABLA 12423434 and BLABLA 343434334  (you only choose BLABLA, the rest is the asset id - automatically generated)

(Perhaps, I'm not sure, the number can be shortened..)

If you have another idea, please specify.

I would choose for non-unique names, otherwise there will be a register-wave in the beginning, such as with domainnames and alliasses. We need to have a possibility for clients in the future to claim a good name.

Maybe this: BLABLA:123

I think asset name should be unique.

Unfortunately @Wesley left out the context.

Please check out testnet now and look for the Asset called CIYAM.

It was not created by me - but I have 50% of the shares (as the imposter *sent* them to me).

This is our problem (not the UI).

With CIYAM anyone can create 100% generated C++ web applications in literally minutes.

Please don't pay attention to any trolls. We can't block them from posting here as that would be anti-freedom but we can reply to intelligent people instead of wasting time/space/organization of thread on trolls

Please ignore this troll called eightspaces.
It's so obvious, that this guy is trying to bring bad mood in the community, for whatever reason (maybe he invested in some copycats and dont want us to expand to fast, because the tempo atm is enormous in my opinion)

-1 all round (and I don't give that very often)

It's very easy to point at anyone posting negative (or percieved as negative) comments about our beloved NXT and call them a troll, but by doing that we are simply sticking our heads in the sand.  How are u gonna define 'intelligent people' ?  Is someone who doesn't share our happy, smiley vision of NXT therefore stupid ?
Negative feedback is useful, it helps keep people motivated and shows us exactly where the weak spots are, so they can be sorted out.

If someone is simply being abusive, yeah, call them a troll. But I'm seeing reasonable criticism here from eightspaces, bitcoinforumator and others, even if I don't agree with them.
Even emule sometimes makes sense....but his repetitiveness and lack of originality is getting on my tits.
It is also possible that guys/girls/whatever posting a concern here are trying to express themselves in English and getting it slightly wrong. Not everyone is born speaking Gods own language  Wink

TLDR: stop shouting 'troll' every time someone criticices NXT.

On to the "what is NXT" debate:
Actually as a currency Nxt can and should be compared to other alts. Absolutely. POS vs. POW.

It is a poor comparison - if you want to compare NXT to something then I think XRP is a much closer one.

I agree NXT functions like XRP, but it is also a better store of value because of its lower circulation and the control it gives you over the network.

Just because NXT "could" function like XRP on Nxt, doesn't mean it will only function as such. Ripple has no one promoting it as a currency. Nxt has hundreds who already do. This isn't going to change anytime soon.

No one is saying it will only function like XRP.  It is a multi-functional currency.
Like the man said, NXT is multi-functional. Its the Swiss army knife of cryptos.
I see no conflict at all between using it as a simple first gen currency (driving the base NXT price and market cap) and implementing all of the 2nd gen features.
NXT can be used as the user/group/whatever sees fit.
It's a financial ecosystem: it has trees, insects, rats, birds, bacteria all existing together and all contributing to the whole.

NXT now has a market cap of $34 million, don't know what you mean?

it had $60m not a long time ago, before people lost a good share of their trust and got out / left

If u want to make money in crypto, train's like Auroracoin et al make u. NOT Nxt. UNLESS you are INITIAL investor. Then you made a shit load of money indeed.

MANY DO NOT UNDERSTAND that Nxt is not a good investment. It's a good EXPERIMENT of DEVELOPMENT (in a close cult so far)

Part of my interest in NXT is being part of the 'experiment' - you know, BCNext inviting us all over to his mansion on a stormy night with CfB as the inscrutable butler. I want to stick around and see what happens. This decentralised 'thing' is up there with Breaking Bad!

Something about this sounds so...

(stormy night - you just had to put something so poetic in there did you)

tears in my eyes  Grin

Sounds cool, I like what u wrote MadCow Smiley

BCNext has created something really interesting (obviously), and regardless of the money, I think the NXT 'story' is almost as freaky as Satoshi & Bitcoin. The addition of the 'Butler' character was a stroke of pure genius. There really is a lot of fun to be had from telling the world about NXT!

If a movie about Zuckerberg & facebook was as good as the Social Network, how good is the NXT movie going to be? We just need a few more chicks Smiley

People can create BLABLA1 if they want
I am afraid people/businesses who want to use the asset exchange in the future will see there name already in use, because a big stakeholder claims all the "great" names. If the fee for starting a asset would be set to 10000 NXT, then the problem isn't that big, because the register-wave would be less big. Just my 0.01 NXT.

Quote
And she said: "We are all just prisoners here of our own device"
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast

The Butler is giving us a clue, but what is it?

I think I was the first guy to propose to use NXT as ingame currency, feel free to approach any of the big game devs. Got nothing to lose
[da whole game discussion]

Besides the ingame-purchase-thing:

https://www.humblebundle.com/#contribute is a very famous game-bundle.
You can choose the amount of money you are willing to pay on your own.
They already allow bitcoin, why not NXT?

Can please somebody with proper english-skills contact them?

I was wondering what "inscrutable" means:

in·scru·ta·ble  [in-skroo-tuh-buhl]  Show IPA
adjective
1.
incapable of being investigated, analyzed, or scrutinized; impenetrable.
2.
not easily understood; mysterious; unfathomable: an inscrutable smile.
3.
incapable of being seen through physically; physically impenetrable: the inscrutable depths of the ocean.

You sure this is the kind of butler you would want?

Of course it is useful, but not in fontsize 30 and red letters.

The 1984 stuff has been around for a while. The Hotel California reference is new, AFAIK, but very apt IMO

I feel we're under siege  Roll Eyes

I've noticed one or two posters flop from one extreme to the other over the course of a week. If this is you, I would suggest you have too much invested in Nxt. Consider selling down and coming back in 6 weeks. At least you will be able to sleep soundly in your bed.

I am sitting on a large double figure percentage paper loss right now, a couple of months ago I was 60% up. And so it goes. I haven't sold one Nxt as there is enough promise to warrant a multiplefold increase in Nxt. x5, x10, x50... who knows but more than it worth today.

I was happy to see in my reading yesterday that there are people here who have an outlook measured in years  Smiley

CfB would make an excellent Butler - up there with Batman's Alfred - smart, honest, good humoured, discreet, hard-working ...
