a transactions's fee should be tied to its byte size on the blockchain

...

There is another possibility.

Dynamic fees. byte size on the blockchain Vs Nxt coins market so that in order to if you want to forge you can provide a nxt per byte minimum price you are willing to offer to forge.
everybody have the possibility to make their numbers to see if it is profitable or not to forge.
if the price reaches a very high value should nevertheless have a minimum VPS nodes to ensure network.
in order to forge more attractive can be charged other services like;
leasing of computer

and so on

I think this solution solves;

fee is adjusted automatically
fee takes into account the costs of the nodes always updated
fee is charged per byte size on the blockchain
the concept of instant transactions is not broken
prevents spam

Thats because of all the "every type of altcoin going" pump and dump mentality. People are starting to realise nxt has never been a pump and dump coin. Now all you see is pumping and dumping of the alt clones to transfer to nxt. If anything Nxt has given a purpose for the alt clones and thats is pumping them to dump for nxt. alts are a way for people to obtain nxt without putting up fiat. imo any ways. i personally mine alts to swap for ghs at cex or buy nxt with em and thats it. nxt is my gold stash lol

And now we have 2 pools www.hashrate.org and www.nxtp00l.org i dont even have to handle to alts lol
You get your mining rig and electricity for free?  Wink

I've been considering building a mining rig just for this purpose, but it really goes against every fiber in my body to waist KW/hours of energy for "nothing". I might as well invest another 1000 euros in NXT.

I also think it goes against the POS mentality. Yeah, NXT is POS, but you are MINING and waisting energy on other shit coins. Seems a bit odd, doesn't it?

Salca you are on a spree! Great job, man,
You are putting a lot of effort in this.

On the pasted text, there is a small typo, it should read: "Instructions for programmers".
Thanks for your efforts

There's just 1 problem with a list of predefined categories though; it's centralized.

As far as I understand, the DGS (digital goods store) also won't have categories. CFB does not like this idea of centralization. (even though it would help the user)

I don't think it'll be centralized if each client decides what pre-defined categories it shows? Btw, you should make these categories a) as general as possible and b) perhaps only for large markets. For example, cryptocurrencies should definitely be a category. Fiat, stocks... that's all I can think of at this hour Cheesy Perhaps even more general categories such as "Most Traded (All Time)", "Fastest Rising", "Alphabetical", "Newest Assets", etc.

I think of pre-defined categories just as a way for users/issuers to get started with the most popular assets types (to make the AE look good, of course). Using tags, that will give the issuer and users unlimited freedom to sort and categorize assets as they please.

You could also add an option for a user to to link their client to a service provider's API, and perhaps grab a specialized list from their servers. While a nice addition, IMHO it's not a replacement for the tag system.

these new nxt pools are really good and very welcomed but the community is overetimating its value. it's not a huge deal.
1) ppl keep saying how this will "push" price of nxt due to need of buying coins to send to miners. nxt doesn't need an artificial price raise but instead price raise because more ppl are using it, trading it, it has features that add value to it etc
2) miners will also eventually sell their mined nxt so it will also "pressure sell side"

It's about getting a bigger audience.

Temporary? You know of any people who will stop when they make a profit?
I think it's wrong to dilute NXT's POS scheme.

It's true people have been doing this already on their own, but now it's a service directly offered for / by NXT (it's on the front page...  Huh )

"Don't worry people! We are only dumping toxic waste in your water as long as toxic waste is being produced"  Grin

EDIT: Oh and from a marketing point-of-view it isn't smart either. People will have a field day: "See NXT needs POW to grow!".

Eventually, everyone will have to switch to PoS (because PoW will keep getting dumped, and not just by NXT - multipools are popping up everywhere), what will you mine then? Plus, it won't "dilute" NXT, because no new NXT are being created.

Anyways, I don't think it has anything to do with NXT's ideology as a whole. You can't stop people from doing what they want...

What I ment by "diluting the NXT POS scheme", is that you're using POW to directly buy NXT. It's against one of the POS principles (don't waste energy).
And as long as there will be crapcoins (they will keep popping up for as long as people can make a quick buck on them) people will keep mining them.

Getting a bigger audience by letting go one of the POS principles?
I think I'm in one of my philosophical fases or whatever, but it feels like dumping toxic waste somewhere to grow yourself a clean business.  Wink

I won't go on about this. Just letting you know how I think about it  Kiss

Rule one of the internet: people will do what they do.

Nxt is open. The *system* may be PoS. That doesn't mean people will be limited by it.
The only way to counteract that is to centrally limit it.

This is one of those "take the good with the bad" situations.

The only thing Nxt developers can do is not actively promote it by writing the code for it themselves.
That is where a mission statement that rickyjames was talking about comes in handy.

It means no core coding would be allocated to facilitating it out of the community. But that's as far as it would go Smiley

I get you Wink

However, one of my principles is "Thou shall make money"...

Anyways, don't feel to bad, it's basically mining an alt-coin, selling it and buying NXT. I'm sure many people have done this already. Now it's just automated Grin

Okay: "we won't facilitate it in the core code, but here is a link that will do JUST THE SAME and put it on our OP (but we didn't write it, so all is cool)"  Grin

Okay, now I will honor my previous words and stop commenting about it. Let's agree to disagree.
