If someone goes out his way to build apps on on top of nxt to do that, that will help nxt even more. Still it's a pipe dream that even if true will be months away. Nxt will be the primary currency.
I agree. The point I'm making is that we can't dictate "Nxt only". Timeframe is irrelevant... especially if you look at our current marketing material

- Litecoin can trade on AE via Nxt - Bitcoin can trade on AE via Nxt - therefore a service can calculate the cost of Litecoin in Bitcoin and trade them against one another. Nxt is invisible.
Double the fees. Mmmmm tasty.

Why is the price suddenly skyrocketing? Is there a major reason besides "mining"?

People, how it is possible to trade in AE not with NXT?
This is a discussion about semantics. At the HEART, you CAN'T. But: - Litecoin can trade on AE via Nxt - Bitcoin can trade on AE via Nxt - therefore a service can calculate the cost of Litecoin in Bitcoin and trade them against one another. Nxt is invisible. Think more like a chess player If someone goes out his way to build apps on on top of nxt to do that, that will help nxt even more. Still it's a pipe dream that even if true will be months away. Nxt will be the primary currency. This is the point of James 'the destroyer' multisig gateways IRRC. It was only weeks away not long ago but it may be on hold. Testing was carried using DOGE. Take cover James!

Hi everyone! I was really excited about NXT a few weeks ago, then was afk for a week and came back to the scene. Everything has changed so much, and Damelon's summaries are no longer being published regularly. I've fallen behind and have no idea what's happening anymore. Discussion REALLY needs to move to dedicated NXT forums somewhere. Apparently, the nxtcrypto.org admin is MIA. How are the forums at nextcoin.org as far as traffic goes?
I know it's cute to brag about our 4000 page thread, but it's effectively useless to those of us that can't afford the time to live on the BCT thread. The NXT space is large enough that to survive we need to keep attracting new blood to our project. This means we need to be friendly and welcoming to NXT newbies.
If someone hears about NXT and wants to "kick the tires" and read up a little bit, we're doing ourselves a real disservice by pointing them to this thread as they will never get caught up. We will get nothing but a "TL; DR" response. If more discussion happened on dedicated forums, new users could browse the newbie / general section, then head to the specific areas that interest them.
For instance, I have a friend whose an expert java programmer who already owns some NXT and I can possibly persuade him to work on the atomic transaction system...but he comes on here and looks at this thread and tells me he is not sure what to do as there's too much info for him to absorb and make sense of it all, so he just says, "Screw it. I will just sit on my NXT and hope for the best."
Stop right now...and just imagine how much talent and new users we are missing because this thread is too intimidating. Attracting new users will be an essential part of growing NXT.
So I'm imploring people to start using the forums more.
If you see a good post or idea on here, copy and paste it into its own thread on the NXT forums, then put a link in this thread saying, "That was such a good idea that I posted my thoughts in their own thread over here. Please feel free to add to that." and then put a link to your forum's thread. As you, and more people do this, discussion will gradually shift to the forums as critical mass builds up.
Also James...if you are still looking for Java talent on the asset exchange / cross chain transactions, then please PM me a way to get a hold of you. I want to try to sell my buddy on helping you, but I need some details first and don't have the time to read through this thread.
Thanks for listening!

I would like to do some testing on the asset exchange. Would I do that here? Is that demo client currently only operating on the testnet? I do not want to experiment with real NXT, only worthless testnet coins. So if I post my account number from that client, am I automatically operating on testnet? I don't see any mention of it on the client's page.

Just answering this: I haven't summarised because it was simply impossible without creating a bias in my posting, and I won't do that. There are not as many "updates" and "releases" these days, and I didn't want to do just one link posts. I have also been busy with many projects and committees, so just couldn't Tonight I started with posting the first article on the work of the committees, because that does what I made the blog for: reporting about progress! There is still a lot happening and being developed, but this week was much more "introspective". That is also good and probably natural. We are maturing, and that comes with "teething problems" I've done many projects in my career, and this is not that strange, but it ís energetic, I must say! Once there is more to summarise that doesn't force me to take sides, I will of course

So I'm thinking about how the AE will affect nxt. Right now, people buy nxt with btc on centralized exchanges. These exchanges each have basically 1 wallet, and the allocate the nxt amongst the traders' accounts. Withdrawals and deposits are the only things posted to the network.
So if AE or CCT becomes the easiest way to get nxt, what do we think will happen to the volume of transactions? Forging could get pretty lucrative in a hurry. I just have no way of estimating how much fees will increase. Does anybody have a SWAG (Scientific Wild-Ass Guess) of this increase?
