Tonight I was thinking again about the fees. We should not change the fees already, it's not wise.
In this early fase of Nxt I hear nobody complaining about the high fees, mostly because not a lot of payments are done.
But I DO hear a lot of complaining about the joke of forging. In the early fase of a cryptocoin, the miners/investors are the most important people, they make a coins succesfull (look at Dogecoin). To get a lot of attention, we need to attract the miners and investors first!
Later when it gets more populair you can lower the fees!
Bump you have the casuality in reverse: few payments are done BECAUSE the fees are high. Really? The 1 fee, doesn't bother me at all. And there are very limited places where you can buy with NXT at this moment. I'm forging for 1,5 month 24/7 with a nice account, but when the fees drop, I think I will stop with an unlocked account. It isn't worth it anymore. Nxt is completely unusable for micropayments and tips. The fees are so high that using a forging pool right now doesn't make sense if you don't have at least 100k NXT. It's a very serious design error, but the only sensible way forward is to have big and medium holders who forge not because it's profitable, but because it indirectly gives value to their holdings. Maybe someday the transaction volume will rise so much that it's going to become profitable again. Just look around. Nobody uses NXT. So much wasted potential. Where can you spend NXT today, except exchange? Post any place accepting NXT. http://nxtbay.com

Bump I change my vote to keep it at 1NXT. +1000000 So basically your arguments are: - Not enough NXT to be forged because the fee is to low? - NXT forging is assumed to be a joke because of low NXT per block? How about increasing the NXT transactions and as an effect also increasing the people using it? Well, that won't happen with such a ludacrist fee...

Chocholates are ready! Enjoy. Let me know if I can do something more. Oh....my.....god Why the dark 80's theme? Where did the light/eco-friendly/speed go in this design? Really, you need unity in the theme. this is NOT an official logo, but a personally paid work for c-f-b Phew! Must have overlooked that part in this tiny thread

Maxcoin killed all the coins https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=438150.0Maxcoin might well kill Max Keiser if the amount of butthurt on the above thread is anything to go by. Go read it, then come back here and appreciate how bloody good NXT is. Heres my little pep-talk for today:
Bitcoin is in free-fall and under pressure from government and law, not to mention MtGOX.... The entire crypto market is collapsing, following Bitcoins lead. Maxcoin was going to rule the world, that seems to be postponed for a while. 2nd generation cryptos.......does anyone see a functioning 2nd gen crypto apart from NXT ? NXT is in a very good position right now. It isn't tied to BTC in any real way, the basic features work well, and the advanced stuff is coming along, though maybe more slowly than some of us expected. NRS clients are stable, no nasty hacks for a while... Right now, we should be thinking "marketing opportunity" , not "OMG, the sky is falling". I'm going to be throwing some more fiat/BTC into NXT today and I suggest that everyone else follows my lead. If we can hold, keep calm & carry on, keep NXT on the level while the market is collapsing around it, the potential is huge. This could be a game-changing moment for crypto, there are a lot of people right now out there in crypto land looking for a safe place to put their investment. It would be very good for NXT if we could make NXT that safe place. So, can I humbly suggest that we: Hold. Do not sell, where are u gonna go, into BTC? Buy. Get rid of that BTC, or just keep the fiat value up by moving into NXT. Promote. Get the huddled masses running to NXT as shelter from the BTC storm. Help any newbies u meet..... Last thought here: If we can get NXT in the green on coinmarketcap, while the rest of the crypto world is deep red, everyone is going to want some, no matter how complicated the client is or whether we can forge on RspPi or not..... so pump, don't dump. I'm off to throw some BTC at DGEX, come and join in... Edit: We have a voting site up, btw, check my poll results: http://nxtvote.com/view.php?vote=10667094504543355029

It's in a never-ending loop.... Not to such extent, either you are on a fork and rejecting blocks from the main chain, or most of your peers are on a fork and feeding you the wrong blocks all the time. I should add logging of the blockId that was popped off, to be able to see which one it is and compare to the block explorer or another node.

For success, 2 things are needed the most.
(1) Very good native client (a few of them coming soon) (2) The native client should be able to sign the transactions and broadcast it to a public node. That way people don't have to install java and and run complex Nxt server
These two things should be top priority.
Nice reminder.

We need audit of Crypto and Curve25519 classes.
Edit: Wait for critical bug disclosure to get it better. The bug is related to Crypto implementation. An audit would let to avoid the bug.
If we get an academic to agree to do the review, we might better give them the latest cleaned-up 0.7.x source. Nothing has changed in the Crypto classes, but overall it will be much easier to navigate the code.

You know, that would not be such a bad idea right now! If everyone would just bij 0.1 or 0.2 BTC worth of NXT right now, that would really boost the market. It would stick out like a flashlight in the darkness. Problem is: everyone wants to buy low... Looking at coinmarketcap.com, NXT is currently 15% down over the last 24 hours, most of that being due to the BTC drop, not from NXT itself. All we need is a friendly whale (or a lot of minnows) to buy in, and we are in the green. Like mikesbmw said, that will make NXT stand out so hard in a sea of red...... @Hacer88...winning with us would be the best option.
