Heads up marketing team...This is the second time I am repeating this, Just a pointer for a more effective marketing strategy, other than the guerrilla marketing we have been limited to. The other crypto 2.0 platforms are doing it right.

Solution: Create campaigns marketing directly to businesses who will IPO on the nxt blockchain, each of these businesses will then partially serve as autonomous marketing vehicle for the nxt platform

1) counterparty has got it right: They have got 7+ businesses plus Adam b Levine ready to go on their platform

2) watch the video bitshares video..Their main focus is to appeal to businesses http://bitshares.org/

This is why platforms like Apple app store, Amazon and ebay are so successful...The sellers and affiliate marketers on these platform actually work to promote their product listed there, which in in turn brings greater exposure to the platform. I have yet to see any consensus on a similar strategy..So if you are a key decision maker on the NXT marketing committee please think about this post, I should know I studied a bit of marketing in college and made a living working in the field for a while other than just writing code...

Just my 2 nxt..back to work.

That is the perfect example of what should be post on the new forum! "" This is the second time I am repeating this ""

Raspi model A and B current consumption compared:

These running NRS 0.8.1x and ideling most of time @250Mhz, only some peaks to 900Mhz. Model A is Hallmarked!
All RasPI's have a USB Wlan adaptor connected!

My modified model A  that runs 100% from solar:
(powered with 3.3V through external step-up/step-down voltage regulator, used for Li-ion battery power)

Model A standard:

Model B standard:

As you can see, model B is much more power hungry as model A and they can also be optimized with an external voltage regulator.

The modified model A, with my battery setup, runs about 125 hours without sun (~7 days with sunlight included) and is 100% recharged in ~38 sunlight hours (~5 days @1000mA). While sun is charging the batteries, the RasPI is completely powered by the solar panel (If we have enough sunlight)!

Next measurement is a ODROID-u3, ODROID-xu and a cubietruck.

I hope this information is helpful for someone.

In case you're interested, Adam B Levine has a nice little presentation about the Counterparty Wallet and issuing assets etc in the beginning of the video. Maybe there's something to learn.

I invite everyone that had post something interesting in this thread and who wish that information to be useful in the future to take the time to repost the subject info as a new thread on the new forum: http://107.170.117.237/index.php#c3

As an example, I did repost on the new forum the info I gave concerning mining nxt with a cpu to beta test the nxt mining pool.
Im sure there is plenty of information like this in this thread that can be reorganized.

Many thanks, and hope a better future for Nxt with more organization.

Yes, please make threads about the important topics in the relevant forums!
That will get talk going.
Noone likes to look at an empty forum!

Once the momentum is good, people will go there of their own accord Smiley

Please get the ball rolling on every topic you think is important.
The smoother the transition, the better it will be Smiley

I agree. We should learn from the competition. Improve upon their mistakes and enhance what they do well.

Quick question:

Bounty for clients should be handled by which committee ?
I'm thinking it's a TechDev issue.......but I'm willing to take it on board as an InfCom issue, clients are in a slightly grey area. Infrastructure or Technical Development?

[JSON codec release]

Not following this thread has given me some extra time. I was in the process of changing the gateway_AM format and wanted to use JSON for sending requests to the gateway. However, with the 1000 byte limit of AM, cant really afford the JSON bloat. After searching a bit for an effective JSON compressor, I decided to just write a wrapper around zlib optimized for NXT. The following is the result. In my small number of tests, I am getting compression rates of 2:1 to 4:1, your mileage will vary.

To use it, make sure to call init_jsoncodec(), if you send it a JSON string, it will do a test compress and decompress. After it is initialized, you can just call encode_json(char *jsontext) and it returns a pointer to the compressed data. To decompress, just pass that pointer to decode_json() and it will allocate space and return the JSON string.

If you find any bugs PM me. It is supposed to be lossless after all whitespace is removed.

That's it for now. Going back under.

James

Proposal for Wesleyh

can we change the word tentative to "pending"

It is a very weird word for non native speakers.
Maybe wesley could implement different languages?

Nxt's Achilles heel at the moment is marketing. Big time.

Brought this up with the Marketing Committee. We may have to change our mandate, if this is the wish of the community.
At the moment we only have a mandate to disburse funds, but it seems silly to just be passive. Bút we have been voted in on the MC mandate and will not just spend the Nxt outside our remit. We need approval for that!

We áre already busy, by the way: https://forums.nxtcrypto.org/viewforum.php?f=54
Five projects need to be voted on this week. And will be voted upon.

We also want to ask to keep up with thinking up projects and to remember that there *are* funds available, provided you come up with a plan that gives a good ROI.
Be creative, be bold and above all: be active!

I have about 10 projects I'm working on in the user-created-asset space - If I were you guys, I would set up a long term, outcome oriented bounty program.  Here's what I suggested Invictus do with their 10% of their 5 million US dollar warchest to build the comunity

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3448.msg43334#msg43334

If you guys had something like that, it would be more compelling for people building projects to pick your platform and compete for the prize.  It also is in their best interest to start building as soon as possible because its a race that's already started.   There are a lot of options out there, if you create a predictable, rewarding environment for people to build on you'll be very attractive.
