I concur, unthinkingbit perhaps duplicate your thoughts to a new thread and reference it here.

There isn't enough interest in adding to pledges to keep a separate thread on the first page of this section. If interest increases enough, I'll split out devcoin pledge matching to a new thread.

The devtome.org and devcoin.org domain names are down. I don't know why this happened, I contacted Cablepair but have not received a reply. Fortunately Jasinlee and Gweedo have made a new devtome.com:

I bought up devtome.com and we are setting it up as we speak already.

DVB offers to finance the domain devcoin.org in dvc.
My personal opinion is that the holder of the domain should be a cooperative (genossenschaft). Since cooperatives can be legaly registered and joined in Switzerland. A legal devcoin cooperative opens up various posibilities. The holding and financing of the domain devcoin.org would be secured this way. A cooperative would give devcoin a legal basis from the beginning of there existence. Since the devcoin discription are basicaly statutes this step is not that hard to acchive.
Everyone who would like to join that coopertative would have to bring in some knowhow for a dev status or just pay a memeber fee. Every member in a cooperative has a single voice. Conferences and conventions aswell as votings are easy doable online, we have the open source technology capable of that.

..

The problem is that Cablepair has completely abandoned everything. He is not answering emails, or renewing the domain or doing anything at all. That's why Jasinlee bought devtome.com. Once Jasinlee has the wiki up, then we'll just eventually point devcoin.org to the devcoin page on the new wiki.

I officialy request to drop Luke-Jr from the devcoin receiver list cause of hostile activity against sha256 based chains. In my eyes it cant be, that we support this just out of fear of an 51% attack by Luke-Jr. And letting the whole devcoin project be hold hostage by a single developer on our own list.

There's been more demand for a windows version:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg1141014#msg1141014

so I suggest boosting the bounty from 4 to 6.

There's also been a request for a devcoin web wallet, a modification of electrum to handle devcoins would be great:
http://electrum.ecdsa.org/

I suggest a 6 then 3 generation bounty for that. It would have to be able to handle devcoins from generation.

Any objections?

Edit: The first part of the web wallet bounty has been awarded, only the 3 share award remains.

Just got another dividend payout. With the block reward halving, this is going to get crazy next week. I am thinking dvc should double in price vs btc and thus double in price on dvb in another week or so after Smiley

I suggest a 2 then 1 share bounty for Mac. A generator that makes a three would get an additional 4 shares.

Edit; the 2 share bounty was awarded:

Only the 1 share award remains.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_compiler
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NetBSD

On Ubuntu the following software needs to be installed for crosscompilation:
Quote
sudo apt-get install libqt4-core libqt4-gui libqt4-qt3support libqt4-sql libqt4-debug-dev libqt4-dev

for

for devcoin-qt please run: qmake -spec win32-x-g++ (mkspecs missing?)

for devcoind please run: i586-mingw32msvc-gcc -o makefile.linux.mingw (what cpp file has to be used to start with?)

If some of you guy's comes closer to the solution for a devcoind.exe or devcoin-qt.exe, well go for it Smiley

I officialy requested a adjustment of the code of p2pool https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool in a way it would work with Devcoin as mainchain from forrestv.
Im aware of the crypto-economic situation acutaly. So there is no need to argue against it in this terminology.
I request this option, cause this would allow not only devda.ch to run a pure devcoin based p2pool with mm solo mining for all sha256 based alt chains.
Bitcoin block reward is about to become halved, maybe the economic value and hashrate will rise, maybe not, what ever it will do, its just an alt chain from my point of view to Devcoin and the financial value of it shouldnt be the main criteria for evolving this project.
I agree with other devs that we have to show up some difference, for me personaly the capability to vote democraticaly upon development is a huge difference to bitcoin. We should protect and support this!

Any objections ?

I'm glad you understand that you would be throwing away the 90%+ part of the value that bitcoin gives to merge miners. Because of the waste of money I object to this option.

Mining is just a question of making as much value as possible for the miner and any shareholders. Once the money is made, then the profit can be sent as the cooperative wishes to the miner, shareholders, worthy causes, etc..
