I agree the name VertVerser definitely needs a change, that means nothing to me. I had to go to Reddit to find out what it was :

http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/29p5m7/ann_presenting_vertverser/

So VertVerser ( a way to pay with bitcoin anywhere you go) Is awesome Shocked,,....name, not so much.

Edit: Nevermind, it seems a website with the name VertVerser already exists. I've committed the name to memory so I'm all good now, lol.

if you would change the name to "conVert-bit" or something along the lines of the word conVert that would be awesome and more self explanatory because the current name is a bit hard and not main stream

conVert just sounds too much like conVict or conVent to me...con is a kind of negative way to start a word, imo.

'convert' also has religious connotations... you wanna give that one a miss.

What's in a name. Call it vtcbtc or whatever, fact is that vericoin already got something like that in the form of Veribit and they even implemented it already in their wallet.
So nothing new under the cryptosun.

I'm puzzled as to why there isn't more interest in the last two announcements? Lot's of stale bulls to chew through...or...is there something I'm missing?

Not sure either. I think BTC is pulling a lot of cash out of alts right now. The better BTC does the less action most alts will see, short of the P&D alts.

When BTC slows we should pick up. Lots of positive news out right now.

Lots of positive news out right now.

The tech is out. The news not so much.

Additionally, stealth addresses are not trivial. Just try to find a) a good, short executive summary and b) an understandable, detailed and technically correct explanation for it as it is implemented in the VTC wallet. So far I don't think you will dig up something useful.

Two people even tried an explanation here in this thread. After some reading I think they got it about 80 or 90% right. But I can't tell you for sure, because the source code is closed. Yes thats the same coin which relies on the bitcoin community's open source client implementation for almost everything it does.

I have no idea whether I understood the stealth address thing. But it seemed to me that
1.Person A gives person B a "stealth address".
2.Person B send a payment to the block chain  to an address derivable from A's stealth address.(?)
3.Person A then retrieves the payment from the block chain after they identify the payment (as only they can see which address is derivable from their stealth address...and only they have the key to do so...?)

Is that it? Just trying to put it simply as I'm not very clever when it comes to tech things  Tongue

How is it that darkcoin with failed a masternode implementation is worth so much and vtc with successful stealth addresses
is going through the floor?

Can anyone from the Vertcoin team explain why their work is not valued in this crypto community?

I'd guess it's because the name 'darkcoin' markets itself while 'vertcoin' gives no idea of the utility of the coin. And 'stealth addresses' is also ambiguous and has to be explained to everyone while 'anonymous transaction' is self explanatory. Most people don't care to research altcoins.

At least r/bitcoin is finally talking about ASICs being detrimental to the network.. they're only 4 months late to the party.

I'm not in the team, but I have some ideas (though of course they're just my own speculation). I have bought VTC a number of times, and probably only once made a good profit (and that was when it went completely nuts quite a while ago). Every other time I've ended up selling out and being disappointed. Recently it really looked as though VTC was in a terminal decline. It's interesting that even in the lead up when the stealth address function was telegraphed the coin still struggled and even pretty much collapsed.

I think there are a lot of "stale bulls" in VTC and even good news wont necessarily turn the price around in the short term. Holding onto a losing investment wears on you and it becomes more difficult psychologically to believe, even after good news, IMHO.
Even this therad has a subdued or even tired feel about it, compared to the energetic hype in the threads about newer coins.
Assuming the news is that good, I think we just need a period where the tired weak hand let go and others accumulate at what seems to be a reasonable price.
It's very typical after a big decline to have a period of consolidation where buyers accumulate. This happens in shares commodities currencies, probably just about anything.
It might just take a little time (which can seem like a lot of time in crypto land) for the mood to change.
Just my thoughts
