You are right, but sometimes the product is so good, it can sell itself. We just need to appeal to the early adopters, but keep an eye on the mid-term potential user.

Wow, amazing how all the "special effects" disappear over time.  More like it's maturing and is more self confident!  Amazing!

My darkproxy.net website now has an easy cloud server mining guide to help folks new to crypto get started with mining some Darkcoins.

See: http://www.darkproxy.net/darkcoin-cpu-cloud-mining-guide.php or https://ssl.darkproxy.net/darkcoin-cpu-cloud-mining-guide.php

I've also started working on a pseudonymous Darkcoin mining protocol which will allow P2pool mining via Tor .onion's or a secure VPN tunnel.

~ Full promotion of darkproxy.net commences from this weekend. By Nov. 2014 the site aims to be serving well over 2TB+ of traffic avg. per. week / month.

 Shocked

That is AWESOME.  I'm glad we have someone with darknet expertise working on this!   Grin Grin

Expect lots of residual hits to the Darkcoin project website.   Cool

Just in time for the new website launch Cheesy

trustless

This word confuses most people, they hear it and draw exactly the wrong conclusion. If it's going to be used it needs a few words of explanation along with it.

+1

##

The problem is that "trustless" is the single most important aspect of what sets darkcoin apart from dark wallet, zerocoin, and all the other competitors.  You only use the language "first anonymous coin" and people say "bullshit".

Add another line: [link] What is trustless and why is this important? [/link] or something like that.  Write up a short ELI5 article that it points to.
Ugh, I'm going to fast, yes, exactly what you say here, a link is perfect!

Guys, stop wasting your time. Unless you are a full time professional website builder with great experience and judgement (which you aren't by the looks of it), you should not be doing this. Darkcoin and its developer deserve better. How can Darkcoin be the next Bitcoin if a couple of hobbyists created the website? Let's put some DRK together and hire a company to create the website (which I'm sure the dev is planning to do after he is done with the final RC). I do agree that the community should be able to come up with good texts for the website though.

On the other hand, we have almost nothing right now, and anything is better than nothing, and as soon as possible isn't soon enough.  Sure, we'd all love to have pros doing this kind of thing.  My husband is a writer, I asked him if he's help me write an article on darkcoin.  He asked "will they pay us some coin for it?"  I said no!  And, though I will wring his wrist until he helps me (I need time myself) he also wants to be paid for his work. (I explained that if the coin takes off, we are paid in it's improvement, LOL)

So you can see, if we don't have a passionate darkcoin enthusiast, who happens to be a great website developer, we'll need to pay someone.  I'm sure that will come, but in the mean time, lets get something decent up and updated asap!

Seriously I think mannie's site is just as good as any professional can make. It looks great. Just needs some finishing touches.

Damn! I need a "crypto trading 101" class or something. Can anyone reference any good reading on the subject?

It's so volatile, no way to know really.

I'd be careful of Digital Ocean.

I got my account shutdown by them under article 12 of their terms and conditions for doing cryptocurrency mining. See here: https://www.digitalocean.com/legal/terms

They detected that my servers were absorbing "excessive processing resources" and asked my what I was doing. I was honest with them about my activities since I wasn't doing anything illegal.

At that point they promptly froze me out of all my servers and closed my account without telling me. I only found out about it when I sent a support ticket about not getting access to my servers.

Once we started communicating again (I was very professional and polite with them so they had little choice) they referred me to article 12 and said that I had categorically violated it by doing cryptocurrency mining. I pleaded with them to at least give me access ot retreive my stuff of my droplets and they obliodged - giving me 1 HOUR to get my stuff off before closing me down again for good.

You said "ecash" and "Internet Money" but how is this related or may substitute the notion of "trustlessness" ?

lol, I like that in 1999 they saw the need to add an exclamation mark.

It was probably the peak of their insecurity... and then over the next years they realized.... fuck it man, we are worth billion of dollars... now let's chill.

Kills me to think i bought 20 btccs worth at 38 when i could have gotten some at 28! lol oh well.

I got some at 0.44 on c-cex many months back so cant complain :p

The price will rise again soon, whales are making sure they get as many as they can at the cheapest price.

It kills me to see others are able to capitalize on this great opportunity with 20+ BTCs while I'm stuck with my measly DRKs. Grin Oh well. At least I've managed to get enough to try my hand at a masternode this weekend.

Did several jagermeister bombs last night. Came home and decided to buy a couple of BTCs worth of DRK.

Woke up today to find out I could have got them cheaper. Bloody multipools drifting down the price.

Lesson learned - don't buy anything while pissed. But I'm sure it will happen again.

No multipools, it's a whale exiting in waves of 20-30-40 btc dumps... up until 10-12 hours ago there was another whale buying from him - but the whale buyer(s) either seems to have run out of buying power or he/they have figured out the guy exiting and selling low and thus go lower too to maximize the DRKs they buy.

Nothing changes in term of fundamentals. DRK has very low inflation to be bothered by multipool dumping. Even if a multipool mined 1/4th of all DRKs it's like 6 BTC (@ 0.003). Whales here are moving with like 20-40 BTC batches. The buying whale saw the trend reversal on 260 as it got 270 etc and then placed 20 BTC buy on 285. I bet he was hoping to buy @ 250.

Internet Money

You said "ecash" and "Internet Money" but how is this related or may substitute the notion of "trustlessness" ?

providing an explanation of trustless is something for the user guide - you can put it on a website somewhere.

The thing that needs to stick in the memory and come to mind when hovering over the buy button on a merchants store are words like eCash or internet money.

Bitcoin has already done a great job on the decentralised explanation and how it relates to trust. We don't need to reinvent that wheel. People just want to know that the product works like cash, but on the internet.

Do you trust the money in your pocket? You don't even think about it. You hold it and pass it on.

I think alot of instamined coins were thrown in the market the last days. There were alot of buywalls that got eaten one by one.

I dont think that someone who bought last week after discovering DRK and its fundamentals sells just one week later.
