They don't speak about DRK, but they basically lay out why DRK will rule above them all... (actually, referring about MAIDsafe)

trustless

This word confuses most people, they hear it and draw exactly the wrong conclusion. If it's going to be used it needs a few words of explanation along with it.

+1

##

The problem is that "trustless" is the single most important aspect of what sets darkcoin apart from dark wallet, zerocoin, and all the other competitors.  You only use the language "first anonymous coin" and people say "bullshit".

Add another line: [link] What is trustless and why is this important? [/link] or something like that.  Write up a short ELI5 article that it points to.

The word "trustless" must be followed by a definition, nobody said that it has to disappear, but the people outside bitcointalk have to understand without confusion (trustless != unreliable) what it means.

Totally agree, it's crypto slang almost.

Kills me to think i bought 20 btccs worth at 38 when i could have gotten some at 28! lol oh well.

I got some at 0.44 on c-cex many months back so cant complain :p

The price will rise again soon, whales are making sure they get as many as they can at the cheapest price.

It kills me to see others are able to capitalize on this great opportunity with 20+ BTCs while I'm stuck with my measly DRKs. Grin Oh well. At least I've managed to get enough to try my hand at a masternode this weekend.

Did several jagermeister bombs last night. Came home and decided to buy a couple of BTCs worth of DRK.

Woke up today to find out I could have got them cheaper. Bloody multipools drifting down the price.

Lesson learned - don't buy anything while pissed. But I'm sure it will happen again.

Hell, I've done plenty of things I've regretted while pissed. Wink At least you still stand to profit from your "poor" judgement. Smiley

Ok guys I've changed the slider image and removed trustless etc. I think it's getting there. We need some FAQ and guides tho.

http://darkcoinsample.hostoi.com/

Yea that looks awesome IMO.

Edit: the link still has the old image though.

Sorry, fixed it. The FTP upload didn't work.

Yea it looks amazing.  Hopefully we can launch in the next 24 hours?

In the resources category I think you should include this wiki: http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/Main_Page

I'm not sure who wrote/maintains it, but it has lots of great info and is well written.

Cool didn't know about the wiki. I'll put it in.

No multipools, it's a whale exiting in waves of 20-30-40 btc dumps... up until 10-12 hours ago there was another whale buying from him - but the whale buyer(s) either seems to have run out of buying power or he/they have figured out the guy exiting and selling low and thus go lower too to maximize the DRKs they buy.

 Cry
Hi,

I compiled the wallet under Linux and started synching but it is stuck at block 45993 for hours.
Any idea?

Mistake.

We are on RC2, and if you pulled the "source" from the announcement, it was old, and so were the links.  It's been corrected.  There is no source, and by May 14th, there will be a hard fork and you will have to use RC2.  However, hopefully, we'll have open source soon after, if that is an issue for you.  Just want to be sure everything works perfectly before it's released to the wild Smiley

What does trustless mean anyway?

Sure were're not trusting the masternodes not to take all of our coins (which is awesome), but we ARE trusting them not to record who is paying who. Of course this concern is eased if we mix with multiple different master nodes, but I just wanted to point out that this word trustless is kind of prickly.

Not trusting a single entity (aka vector for compromise) with your anonymity, as is required with every single other anonymity-centric coin and service right now.
Most of us know what "trustless" means, but I don't think the average person does. I think "trustless" comes off as "not trustworthy", or at least that's what I thought before I learned what it meant. It's not a word that's commonly used which makes it prone to misinterpretation. I think it needs to be clearly defined outside of technical discussions if it is used, but I'd probably just word it differently altogether.

My darkproxy.net website now has an easy cloud server mining guide to help folks new to crypto get started with mining some Darkcoins.

See: http://www.darkproxy.net/darkcoin-cpu-cloud-mining-guide.php or https://ssl.darkproxy.net/darkcoin-cpu-cloud-mining-guide.php

I've also started working on a pseudonymous Darkcoin mining protocol which will allow P2pool mining via Tor .onion's or a secure VPN tunnel.

~ Full promotion of darkproxy.net commences from this weekend. By Nov. 2014 the site aims to be serving well over 2TB+ of traffic avg. per. week / month.

Expect lots of residual hits to the Darkcoin project website.   Cool

I agree.

The problem is the syllable -less... people hear trustless and think that something necessary is missing.

We should find a word that ends with the syllable -full...

I did the same thing, 4 times.  Buying way higher than it was a couple of days or hours later.  In the end, you got to remember, it will undoubtedly go up so much higher, that little bit won't matter.

However, I have to fight myself all the time.  So many people are able to buy up so many coins, like someone just said they have 40,000 coins, and I admit, I get jealous.  Then I get angry with myself, because jealousy is a stupid emotion.  There will always be those who are in a better position, but that doesn't matter for me as an individual.  I had a goal to get 2 nodes up, and I got that.  Sure I wish I had more, but I can't swing it, I swung as far as I could.

So, same with buying, you do your best and know, if you had bought Bitcoin at the exorbitant price of $4 a coin, well, you're still doing VERY well Smiley

I will admit, I have to check myself every time that jealousy creeps in, 'cause it is a creeper, and it will take my happiness at being a part of this great experiment away if I let it.  LOL

Folks,

I've been buying on the way down - have put in an order every 200 Satoshi drop. Have got another one in at 25.

I now have enough for the 1000 DRK node thing but I don't know anything about it. Is there something interesting about becoming a DRK node ? Can anyone direct me to more information about it ?

Thanks in advance !

Guys, stop wasting your time. Unless you are a full time professional website builder with great experience and judgement (which you aren't by the looks of it), you should not be doing this. Darkcoin and its developer deserve better. How can Darkcoin be the next Bitcoin if a couple of hobbyists created the website? Let's put some DRK together and hire a company to create the website (which I'm sure the dev is planning to do after he is done with the final RC). I do agree that the community should be able to come up with good texts for the website though.

On the other hand, we have almost nothing right now, and anything is better than nothing, and as soon as possible isn't soon enough.  Sure, we'd all love to have pros doing this kind of thing.  My husband is a writer, I asked him if he's help me write an article on darkcoin.  He asked "will they pay us some coin for it?"  I said no!  And, though I will wring his wrist until he helps me (I need time myself) he also wants to be paid for his work. (I explained that if the coin takes off, we are paid in it's improvement, LOL)

So you can see, if we don't have a passionate darkcoin enthusiast, who happens to be a great website developer, we'll need to pay someone.  I'm sure that will come, but in the mean time, lets get something decent up and updated asap!

Internet Money

I want to emphasize that the trust that is needed for fiat money was replaced with the certainty of mathematics.

Nobody has to "trust" that 1+1 = 2.

You don't have to believe in an authority that orders you to accept it as fact that 1+1 = 2.

So something like "mathematical proof money" is more to the point, but main street people probably  can't do anything with this eitherl
