btc darkwallet alpha hurting darkcoin price?

I doubt it. If anything it will help Darkcoin. People will think, 'What's this Darkcoin? It has a similar name.' and then we have an opportunity to explain to them why it is a better solution than a centralized wallet.

HERE: http://newsbtc.com/2014/05/01/dark-wallet/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Newsbtc+%28newsBTC+-+Today%27s+Bitcoin+News%29

"Lately altcoins like Darkcoin have been the leaders in improving crypto-currency privacy, and Dark Wallet potentially stands to put Bitcoin back in the lead.”

Potentially....doesn't add up to much.

Considering a comment in a dark wallet article got us a mention in a wired article.. perhaps we should all be commenting wherever we see a dark wallet/bitcoin privacy article. Free press? Nothing antagonistic. Just Darkcoin is already doing this better. For whatever reason you choose not to display your finances online as opposed to the one-sided rhetoric DW are employing.

Can someone please eli5 the Non-Repudiability mechanism of Darksend?

i.e. is there an undeniable way that a Sender can prove to the Receiver that he sent him the coins (and hence deserves to get the merchandise)...
thank you.

sorry
- but that light blue in the top bar just does NOT work !!!! (why don't you stick to the grey you used before and expand the font a bit ?)
- your picture (word map) in the first edit was so much better (as we are all global)
- FIRST is way too big and looks like a title
why don't use
DARKCOIN
the first anonymous digital currency
This is totally loosing the nice darkness and mystery (what DRK needs) …..>>

I really think the logo should have stayed black, the whole blue thing doesnt look very "dark" to me.

I've been busy. Just looked and woosh so many comments, which is great, but I'm a bit confused about how to proceed. There are a lot of competing views. It's to be expected but makes it a bit hard to get anywhere. I guess I'll go through it again and try to find where the consensus lies.

It's looking pretty good but here are a few changes I would make:

As has been mentioned, "FIRST" looks like a title. I would probably put "Darkcoin" there and then maybe something like "Take back / Retain your privacy with the first anonymous digital currency"

I think the logo should be displayed in its actual colour, i.e. if the logo a blue "d" with "dark" written in black and "coin" written in the same blue as the "d", this is exactly how it should be displayed on the homepage. This would probably also mean changing the top navigation bar colour.

I think there are too many colours in the image, it looks very busy. Maybe try in blue hues or darker or lighter or with a lower contrast

No. This isn't necessary nor beneficial. Except for the colors in that image, a bit hard on the eyes (if you're in a dark room).

+1 Design by committee doesn't work. It's a rather subjective discipline. Take the feedback that works and rock on.

What are you saying? You don't think people should associate the Darkcoin brand with certain colours? Correct me if I am wrong but there was a vote for the colour of the logo and blue won quite convincingly over black and now it appears in another colour altogether.

I also stand by my opinion that "first" attracts too much attention on the landing page while "darkcoin" is quite small in the top left corner. Perhaps 3 slides are needed.

Pretty much this. I know I've made a few suggestions myself but just about everything being said by us here is opinion, not fact. That's fine and all and opinions can be helpful, but don't stress it too much Mannie. Anyways the website can, and I'm sure it will, evolve over time so it doesn't have to be -perfect- from the start. Thanks again for your efforts.

Do whatever you believe is right. Everyone "knows" about design, so the number of opinions will be as high as the number of people. You are the one doing it, you know better.

It looks like you are not running the RC2 version of the wallet.

I am.  I tried both the pre-compiled version and my own compiled version.  Is there a new start command?  As you can see, the command "start" isn't listed there.  Another person from darkcointalk.org also has the same problem and nobody has confirmed that they've got theirs up and running that I've seen???

FYI, currently you CANT compile your own version. Its not opensourced yet. You MUST use the precompiled version, the correct one at: http://darkcoin.io/beta.php

What in the world is it that is linked here:
https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc2-hard-fork-on-may-14th.357/#post-2698 Huh

I think today's announcement has confused more people than just myself.  Please look into it Smiley  Thanks Kyle!

I have fixed the links they were not pointed to the RC2 executables. I will flog Evan tomorrow. Tongue

Are you sure Evan didn't point to RC2 on purpose? I figured he was pointing to the non-RC wallets that were compatible with the RC2 fork.

Yeah, I've got a pocket full of cash. Its great having it, because its trustless. I prefer it as a fungible form of payment.

People in crypto land talk about trustless. Average Joe in the street talks about cash.

I think the word "private" should be substituted for "anonymous."

The precise coloration is not important. The layout needs a little fixing. HAving the DRK logo off to the left is just weird looking. Fix that and people won't even notice the background as long as there is contrast.

FIRST could be a little less obvious.

---

LOGO

"First trustless private digital currency."

[button]Find out about darkcoin's other innovations[/button]

---

KISS

I disagree.  Private is vague, anonymous is succinct and direct.  Talk about privacy elsewhere, but when reeling them in, smack them right in the face with the biggest buzzword we've got for DarkCoin, which is "anonymous".  "Private" should certainly encompass anonymity if it's being done right, but a lot of people will be coming in skeptical.  Lead them directly to the information they want to see.  Personally I see "Private", I'm so burnt out on marketing bullshit that I immediately wonder what, exactly, that's supposed to mean.

If it were me, I'd basically keep it as cam suggests, with a few exceptions:

------

LOGO

First trustless, anonymous digital currency.

Your privacy matters.

[link] See how DarkCoin helps secure it.[link]

----

(link goes to the darksend explanation page - which should also include detailed comparisons of other techs (dark wallet, zero coin, etc.) so that it can be pointed out why our product is superior.)

-----

Emphasize trustless and anonymous, but understate it a bit.  Subtle and tasteful will lend more legitimacy to the experience that huge bold flashing gaudy letters.

I agree with this except, as others have suggested, lose the word "trustless" and choose a different background image for the first slide. Your doing a great job and even though it seems like nit picking, I'm sure everyone appreciates your efforts.

Guys, stop wasting your time. Unless you are a full time professional website builder with great experience and judgement (which you aren't by the looks of it), you should not be doing this. Darkcoin and its developer deserve better. How can Darkcoin be the next Bitcoin if a couple of hobbyists created the website? Let's put some DRK together and hire a company to create the website (which I'm sure the dev is planning to do after he is done with the final RC). I do agree that the community should be able to come up with good texts for the website though.
