Research Shows that Over 1,000 Coins are Dead, but this Creative Destruction Benefits Consumers

Research by Coinopsy and Dead Coins, two digital currency tracking websites, shows that over 1,000 cryptocurrencies and ICOs are dead.

Qualifications to be a dead coin requires “lacking any development or future activity in their protocol”. The reasons for their deaths are wide reaching, but including “common exits scams, website closure, and abandoned code to deliberate pump and dump, malfunctioning wallets and alleged death of project developers”.

Interestingly, the failure rate is higher than normal for investments since a recent CB Insights report indicated that only 28% of blockchain companies could reach second round seed funding, whereas the normal is 46% for startups. Another report by Satis Group shows that only “8 percent of cryptocurrency projects make it to reputable exchanges after their ICO.” However, it also tends to be common knowledge that most startups and new businesses fail initially and that it typically takes many attempts before success, especially for innovative new technologies like cryptocurrencies.

Dash Venezuela CrowdFunds the 9th Dash Conference and 7th Dash City

Dash Venezuela uses crowdfunding to help fund the hosting of the 9th Dash Conference and 7th Dash City this past June 16 since the DAO treasury was stretched thin this month and could not fund their continuing project.

Eugenia and Dash Venezuela originally set out to host 12 Dash conferences, 1 each month, with the goal of making Venezuela the first Dash Nation. Their events have typically been funded since they have had great results such as making Venezuela the top Dash accepting country in the world, with 200+ merchants and ranking #2 in the world for most downloaded Dash wallet and visits to Dash.org. However, the DAO treasury has been tight recently with the fiat exchange price decreases and the large Dash Core proposals.

Nevertheless, Eugenia and her team found a way to still host the conference by crowdfunding the event. Edward of DASH.RED told Dash Force News about the importance of alternative sources of funding for historically successful projects.

If you knew a project was truly a scam and had no future would you spend you valuable time on here and on other forums devoting your valuable time fudding and trolling so aggressively... It must really suck for these trolls to know deep inside they suck so bad at trolling. Question remains : do they really know that they know?  Or have they illogically convinced themselves that their trolling posts actually have a lasting effect this time around?

Dash has been subject to trolling for more then three years without any impact, all it really does is strengthen this community.

Compare to other pow and pos coins any uses of this coin what are the primary uses of this coin,once the distribution is continuously running there should be a good feature of this coin where they can use it I hope this is far from being a shitcoin in the future..Just asking..

Dash primary use is having optional privacy on its transactions and having instant settlement on its network.

Once Dash Evolution (a very large update) is implemented later this year, additional uses / services will start to emerge on the Dash network..

Dash Version 12.3: This week, Dash Core Group released v12.3, which introduces many network performance improvements and lays the foundation for the Evolution platform. The new version will introduce multiple independent devnets, “lower the number of inputs designated to each wallet, improve user privacy by eliminating the merging together of small non-private inputs, and decrease UTXO set size.” The unique structure of Dash has allowed it to continuously and smoothly innovate and improve the network in the interests of end consumers.

Dash Copay Wallet: The Dash Core Group is steadily continuing to test the Copay wallet with Beta testing now available. The Copay wallet will bring Dash users many new features, but the most prominent feature is the multi-signature ability to allow Dash to be used more easily by families or professional businesses where spending typically requires multiple approvals before being allowed.
