Venezuela Pushes Adoption of the Petro President Maduro of Venezuela is creating new incentives and structures to increase usage of the Petro as its pre-sale ends.
Maduro has certified 16 exchanges that he hopes will list the Petro, although there is yet to be any confirmation that any of the exchanges have agreed to actually list the Petro. Despite this fact, Maduro claims that “certification of these 16 exchanges is a demonstration of confidence in the system of the Petro, as a cryptocurrency, and will allow liquidity and solid transactional volume”. One of the listed exchanges, Coinsecure, said that “Venezuela wanted to add Petro as a cryptocurrency on Coinseure, so they can trade Petro against bitcoin and the rupee”. The significance arises from additional reports that proclaim Venezuela will give India a 30% discount on oil if they purchase said oil with the Petro.

Dash Announces Deterministic Masternode Lists in Major Structural Overhaul The Dash Core team has announced an upcoming major overhaul to the masternode system by introducing deterministic masternode lists, which will enable a variety of improvements to the masternode structure as well as previously unsupported special features on mobile devices.
In a blog post released this week by Alexander Block, Dash Core announced three new Dash Improvement Proposals (DIPs): Special Transactions, Deterministic Masternode Lists, and Simplified Verification of Masternode Lists (DIPs 2, 3, and 4, respectively), to improve the way masternodes are queried by the network:

The Dash project is the leader of the anonymous encryption currency, and the long-term development of this coin is still worth looking forward to.

Japan’s Financial Services Agency is Pushing Back Against Monero, Zcash, and Dash The Japanese financial regulator, the Financial Services Agency, is taking active steps to discourage exchanges from listing Monero, Zcash, and Dash.
The FSA fears that criminals are using these cryptocurrencies in illegal acts because of their anonymity, and thus wants to discourage their use. Coincheck, which once handled all three cryptocurrencies, had applied to be registered with the FSA in September of 2017, in compliance with the new payment service laws. Coincheck was then hack on January 26, acquired by Monex, and then proceeded to drop all three cryptocurrencies once restarting normal operations. Reports indicated that Coincheck had dropped the three cryptocurrencies in order to demonstrate better complacence standards. After the hack, the FSA increased their inspection scrutiny and also said that dealing in Monero, Zcash, and Dash would be detrimental to gaining regulatory approval.

Will old coins like dash, monero, nem make a comeback this year? Or is top ten history for these legacy coins?
I know that there have been some dumps for them and new hyped up coins have been taking turns competing for their places, but I highly doubt that Monero or Dash are going anywhere. NEM though, I have no idea.

Dash Sees Record Number of Treasury Proposals, Budget Over Double-Requested Dash experienced its most competitive budget cycle yet, with scores of proposals and a treasury that was over double-requested.
According to DashVoteTracker pulling data from main Dash proposal site Dash Central, 66 proposals were submitted for the April budget cycle, 40 of which passed, and 26 which did not. The available budget of 6,176.72 Dash, valued presently at around $2.9 million, was over double-requested, with proposals requesting a total of 13,256.98 Dash, or about $6.26 million. While Dash’s treasury is approximately the same size as previously, due to price fluctuations the USD value has reduced, resulting in a much tighter and more competitive treasury, with demand for funding for projects continuing to grow despite the market dip.

St. Louis Federal Reserve Admits Bitcoin is Much Like Other Currencies The St. Louis Federal Reserve in the U.S. issued a blog post based on a paper written by Berentsen and Schär that draws three main similarities between Bitcoin and other national currencies.
The blog post touches on one, no intrinsic value in either, two, limited supply, and three, no middle man. Berentsen and Schär discussed how Bitcoin has no intrinsic value since it only has the code, computations, and developers behind it, but they also highlighted that “state monopoly currencies, such as the U.S. dollar, the euro, and the Swiss franc, have no intrinsic value either.” They mentioned how the USD is no longer back by gold and only has the trust of the U.S. government and its status as legal tender to back the currency.

I don't think hiding in the darkness is a smart decision. It's time this community come out from beneath it's rock and face the world. Every coin has trolls to deal with, it's the nature of the business. A privacy coin doesn't require private community.

Dash Nation, Dash Forum and the Dash social media channels are all public forums where anyone can participate. There is no hiding in the darkness or a need to come out from any particular rock, the only difference between those websites and this Bitcointalk forum website is that this forum is not moderated, except by the moderator from the bitcointalk forum. This Bitcointalk forum is not exactly abandoned like Tungfa mentioned, its more like Dash has outgrown this forum and successfully started up many other Dash communitcation channels / websites which is only natural for such an internationally focussed cryptocurrency movement. This does mean Dash Nation, Dash Forum and the Dash social media channels offer Dash more control on those people who spam Dash forums trying to promote other cryptocurrencies or on those people engaged in trolling activities. Its a bit weird to see someone relatively new to Dash, show such limited understanding about Dash.

These dash run social media channels are great for those who are already invested in dash but they will do nothing to capture new investors coming in to the crypto market. Talking down to new investors isn't going to help either. This community needs an overhaul if it really wants to compete with all the new projects entering the space. Unless of coarse you're complacent watching dashes market cap slide down the chart.

Unless of coarse you're complacent watching dashes market cap slide down the chart. There are much better ways to attract new investors, then keeping a high profile on the Bitcointalk forum (which Dash has basicly outgrown by now). The answer lays in Dash budget proposal system that funds meetings, establish Dash communities in other countries (like Venezuela) and create and strenghten Dash own eco-system consisting of merchants, users and service providers. Links : https://www.dashcentral.org/budgethttps://dashvotetracker.com/There really is no need to feel worried about Dash marketcap position, its both out of our control (Dash community and Dash dev team) and it is subject to market cycles. Only shortterm investors unnecessarily worry about marketcap position.
