I don't see all these problems with anonymos transaction. That is not a feature, its a must be for a currency.
That all these coins out now not have this feature makes them worthless for real business trading and privacy.

How would you feel if just only your neighbour could see your bank transactions. Thats a nogo.
Privacy for crypto curriencies is a must be and has nothing to do with criminal or illigal behavior.

Latest time you have to pay your tax is the point you exchange a crypto to fiat money and thats enough
for all the goverments.

Stop talking bullshit about darkcoin and illegal things. Switch on your brain. All these coins without offering
privacy make no sense in future.

For a long time btc user didn't even know that their account is open to anybody out there.
Now that privacy is on the cryptotable times will change, be sure.
Finally maybe its not dark that will be the winner, but for yet it is.

I wonder when DRK will be exchanged for FIAT in major exchange markets. Now many people are buying BTC to trade them for DRK, i guess that's why the sudden rise of BTC value.

I was lucky buying at 0.20$

It's been a while since i ve seen such a "hungry" market for an altcoin. It reminds me the old days of LTC, when the price was 0.10$ and in 2 weeks it went to 40$.

Wait for the new wallet to sync with the blockchain, check balance again in like 10 mins, and boom there it is. Also, I assume you have backups of your wallet.dat just in case.

Why is it that darkcoin keeps rising?
I'm happy, but it is making me nervous, and I have been selling the vast majority all the way up (not the smartest, but I cant complain as i'm up I think 2-3x what I put in so far, wish I spent more  Embarrassed.)  I really do not want to see a massive drop as I feel like it be the final blow to the altcoin market, so some insight to why it keeps skyrocketing, other than my original logic that x-11 is where all the gpu miners are going to go, would be helpful.

You should have probably informed yourself before selling based on assumptions, just saying. But here you go http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/FAQ, If I were you I would cancel my order until I am well informed and able to make rational decisions rather than act based on feelings.

As the coin's value increases, master node profits increase. As master node profits increase, more people want master nodes for passive income. Supply can't keep up with demand and the coin's value goes up.

Hey everyone, long time lurker here.

I see that darkcoin.io says to upgrade to 10.8.6 for the fork, however whenever I download and run the darkcoin-qt for linux and check the version number it comes up as 10.8.5-2. I just wanted to make sure that I'll be fine for the fork.

Thanks

Some issues I see with DRK.  tl;dr at bottom

Here is a miner that does 40% better than stock:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=616786.0

Yeah he is in violation of the GPL but he has 30 days to comply in which time he will rack up quite the stash since he is skimming 2% of the hash.  And this is the public version.  Private versions go much further.

My observation on 2x  r9 280x on multipool.
hashrate in sgminer up 35%, el. consumption up from 265w to 300w. Payouts around 5-10% higher (not enough testing, to be sure if it's any gain), temps 5 degrees higher.

summary:
sgminer shows big increase of hashrate, power consumption higher 10-15%, payouts not even close to 30% higher, probably around of higher power consumption mark, max to 10%.

And my data is with disabled 2% fees (using: P C 0 ).

I'm in the DRK very long term, possibly with a large part as a permanent store of value - as weird as it may sound.
If nothing bad happens, I can't see the point of changing all into BTC, or worse yet FIAT and get all the money on the whim of banks/gov.
Private, anonymous store of value and transactions...can't get much better than that.

I got several colleagues, friends, family with sizeable stashes into crypto too (they mostly got DRK, and a bit of BTC too), none so far even think about selling too, most is long term, on 1-2 year "schedule"

Love it!

BE SMART, USE DASH ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

So its a giant ponzi scheme where you keep investing to make more money?  I'm not trying to knock darkcoin at all, but I'm just not getting the end game.

Hmm, I don't have darkcoind downloaded, but I ran ./darkcoin-qt --help on the terminal and it spat out the same thing: "DarkCoin-Qt version v0.10.8.5-2-g8e508af-beta"

Perhaps transfering to mintpal before the fork might be safest option?

Masternodes, please restart!

I've noticed some nodes popping in and out of the masternode lists. I'd like all of the masternodes to follow these instructions to see if the problem gets fixed

1.) stop the daemon
2.) update to 10.8.6 if you haven't
3.) add "maxconnections=200" to your configuration
4.) wait ten minutes (it MUST be ten minutes! This will allow the masternode election entry to propagate)
5.) start the daemon and turn on the masternode
