I have a question, does it even matter that the coin number has been reduced except in the super long term vision? It seems to reach 80 million coins at this speed considering the 7% reduced coins each would have taken centuries or did I overread anything?
Number of coins means nothing by itself, as they are for all practical purposes infinitely divisible.

Yeah, that's not the point. I mean would we even live to see darkcoin reaching 80 million coins by a 5 DRK/block reward formula with 7% decreasing coins each year?

New article in one of the most famous news site in France (70 Million visitors / month)

http://www.lemonde.fr/pixels/article/2014/05/28/monnaies-electroniques-la-mode-du-dark_4424655_4408996.html

France has a very strong tax history....

Really cool that we're getting some positive coverage in the aftermath of yesterday!  Thanks for posting!

YES !!!

Some days before I've emailed to www.bankier.pl financial e-service to look closer at darkcoin.
Today I've found they put the article about us.
Poland knows Smiley

http://www.bankier.pl/wiadomosc/Darkcoin-1000-procent-w-3-miesiace-3129428.html

That's pretty awesome!  Thanks again, great to see positive signs again!  Lets face it, Darkcoin really does have the most going for it, and it's just a matter of maybe a few more weeks before we get everything back on track.

Intended for the Darkcoin devs:

If people didn't have to risk 1000 Darkcoins, maybe people wouldn't be dumping it like crazy whenever the ROI is 3+ times what someone paid for them originally, when someone happens to get there Darkcoins stolen, or a hardfork goes wrong -- or worst case scenario, all three happen around the same time. Maybe, just maybe, you could allow people to act as masternodes with 100 Darkcoins.

Intended for Darkcoin investors:

I'm sure the Darkcoin devs would like you to think that the person that had his Darkcoins stolen was purely a user error (either it being a downed firewall and/or a poor wallet password), but the truth is, no one knows (though we will if people keep getting their masternode wallets stolen). Until Darkcoin has the proven reputation that Bitcoin has had with its security (which has proven to be flawed), I'm not sure why anyone would be willing to let $5,000+ dollars sit in the open waiting for some desperate hacker to find a flaw.

completley agree

I don't agree at all, you don't risk your 1000 DRKs by hosting a masternode. This is like saying that you risk your TV by owning a house, so did you leave the alarm disconnected and the door open?

If you follow the instructions as explained in this thread is technically impossible to get your coins stolen, and once cold-storage is an option it will be technically and physically impossible.

Hosting a masternode is not for everyone. To play in this game, some technical prowess is required. You can't get something for nothing.
If you are concerned about the security of the Darkcoin protocol, then wait to build your masternode until the code is open sourced, has been vetted, and debugged.
Having said that, it is clear the recent theft of Darkcoins from a masternode was not an exploit of Darkcoin, but a simple exploit on an insecure Linux instance.

Apologies if this has already been posted.

CoinDesk article covering the fork and aftermath.

http://www.coindesk.com/darkcoin-price-turmoil-network-issues-emergency-fork/

Thanks for pointing that out.  After yesterday's ridiculous trolling and arguing, which completely put me off the forum, I'm surprised they were so kind to us (well, maybe it was published before the chaos.)

Just logged on, but I hope I'll see a more civil thread today!

Ignore is your friend Tante. Smiley

Though, I wonder, is the trolling any worse in here than say it was for litecoin when it rose to $50 and then was dumped.

Dunno... I just think that all the crypto vets, like the coindesk author seems to be, have become desensitized to the trolling and are good at picking out facts. I was impressed that the article even included the updated new plan (using a hardfork) to pay masternodes.

I was upset at coindesk for the x11 article (before it was edited) but this article reflects quite well on them.

Does that matter? I'm sure plenty of bills will get printed long after we're all gone and it won't affect the currency. The point is that the rate of coins being minted is predictable.

Hi all
I have been in the background since pages 235 ish and have been a huge fan of dark coin . I have even convinced other people to invest in darkcoin to help and support . I do hope Evan is going  strong and well as we have not heard much from him. It would be great if we could get a UPDATE on how/what is going on . I have put so Much faith and hope in darkcoin and now I'm fealing a bit upset with what's Been going on. I am a holder but money is not everything would be nice to get everything going again and the support darkcoin deserves .

Thanks all

Right now, we're back to how things were before the hard fork.  Evan is busy finding what went wrong and finding solutions.  As soon as he has something to report, he'll post here, I'm sure.  In the mean time, what we know is that we will do the upgrade as planned, as a hard fork because the only other option is to trust all the miners not to keep the entire mining rewards for themselves, and that didn't sit well with this community.

I wish TanteStefana or someone competent would moderate this topic. It would have 300 pages less, but it would be more readable.

All tx hash is populated.

http://drk.poolhash.org/masternode.html

looks like nodes not listed in darkcoin.io spent coin.

This isn't working correctly.  It shows my nodes as being on.  I took them offline a couple of days ago.  Haven't had the chance to update.  Hope to do so soon, but I have to run soon again  Tongue

Makes me wonder how many masternodes are really running right now?  I think it's a problem in DarkSend and not on the website.

Can someone provide a good description of how the voting system works exactly?

It is not very detailed, but it contains some IRC comments by InternetApe explaining:

Same here. In fact, when I updated to 0.10.8.11 I didn't start the masternodes again because I was not sure if it was better for the network to have them up or not (I think some of us asked this in darkcointalk). I did start the daemon but not the masternodes. They have been like that until today. 57 min ago I changed masternode=1 to masternode=0 in darkcoin.conf because I want to do some work on them but they still show on both lists with a 1 next to them.

ok folks.

Looks like I may have erred a bit on the pessimistic side with my market technicals earlier.

4 hour chart momentum (has roughly a 2 day cycle for DRK) is shortly turning up and the twelve hour (has roughly a weekly cycle) has put in it's first clear block on the MACD histogram.

What this means is that retro-thrusters have been deployed and we may not be going all the to 6 after all, which was my worst case scenario.

What's more, the buzzards are once again hovering over that order book as demonstrated by the manic hoovering up of what little chunks of meat were left from yesterday's banquet.

If your not done dumping now then I'd forget it although don't be surprised if we go down a bit a few times over the next few days just to finish painting in the other half of the punchbowl in the 12 hour chart.

After that the correction will be fully in.

To all such preachers of witchcraft, please provide screenshots with suggestive lines scrawled on to illustrate your point. Most forum chart voodoo is cherry-picking patterns that fit pet theories. If you don't even show the charts, this will just be assumed.
