Because not many people can keep up with the huge number of posts per day, it might be a good idea to recap:

Recent Darkcoin developments:

Improved Darksend, which anonymizes all your coins in the wallet before they are used
  • when sending them, they don't have to go through mixing process anymore, periodically, all non-anonymized or "tainted" coins in user wallets are sent to a selected masternode, mixed, and redenominated, then returned to your wallet in small denominations in multiple random addresses which cannot be connected to your main address. Then when you get ready to spend your coins, you send pre-anonymized coins directly to the recipient without having to pass through a masternode again, which means instant anonymous transactions (some of the other anon coins need 30 minutes on average to do a transaction)
  • blockchain bloat is greatly reduced which will allow much wider mainstream adoption (some of the other anon coins struggle from severe bloating issues they have to tackle before even dreaming of wider adoption)

Number of masternodes has been on constant rise, the count being 664 at the moment and is expected to keep on rising
  • 15% of the coins are reserved for masternodes making the coin much more scarce
  • hosting a masternode earns you revenue for it, and helps to decentralize and secure the network
  • It is possible to involve additional masternodes in the mixing process, potentially creating even greater obfuscation of inputs

Please feel free to bump or add to the list and/or make corrections so we can have the latest situation easily visible at all times.

Small correction to wording.

You are right about loving this coin. Once you go DRK, you don't go back!

1 BTC a week is only about 7-9 masternodes already Huh and should be much less once drk catches up to btc in the future.   Lips sealed

Doing 1 BTC per week with my masternodes currently. I love this coin.

Holy snap how many darks do you own? Shocked
He won't ROI till like forever anyways.  Wink

A ridiculous prediction. Forbes ? Does not change anything.
Already, Darkcoin not dependent to Bitcoin.
Will be a self-contained unit after when widespread fiat exchanges.

Go look up ROI.

Very true. People in crypto for some reason use "ROI" to mean 100%. Best guess why they do this is due to the prevalence of ASICs, who's worth trends downward toward 0, and thus they must 100% ROI to have any return at all over time.

ROI in a Masternode context is different because the "investment" is a coin, not a depreciating asset. It's way more comparable to a dividend-paying stock in that any ROI is real return, rather than just ROI over 100%.

That is not a prediction, just an article about another coin. Enjoy it for what it is Smiley

I don't expect DRK to go much lower than now, but nobody can know for sure. This is not the place for the faint of heart and the history of bitcoin crashes shows it (and it doesn't even get to the last ones!). We have already suffered a correction of more than 60%, but if you bought a few months ago you are still in dark black numbers. It all depends on the time frame you consider. Know what you invest in and stop looking at the price every minute.

Possible yes
But if the guy is too lazy to learn Linux to setup one, he won't be in the position  to properly configure it anyway under Windows. Furthermore, 2 systems are now necessary to segregate the main wallet holding the 1000 DRK from the masternode server, which should be exposed to the Internet contrary the cold wallet system - you could manage on one system with VM, but on a security point of views this  looks bad ... In addition he plans on exposing his only machine to Wild Wild West on the internet while hosting the VM ?

And saying that dark does not dependent on BTC today is a blatant lie, plus nobody knows what lies in the future - one month ago, everyone voted that DRK will explode in July.
It is tiresome to read unrealistic non backed claims on DRK among those pages, just because invested in it.

People are right about predictions and they are wrong about predictions -- the average of coin101's original poll back in April was $3-$5 at the release of RC2 and the price peaked at $15 in mid May.  Moral of the story, don't bother getting upset at other's predictions and make your own decisions... nobody really knows what will happen anyway.

Predictions are predictions and nobody should blame people for that however saying that DRK does not depend on BTC shows total disconnection with current reality.

Well DRK does have more USD markets than most alts including ones at Bitfinex and Crypty, but yes it is still mostly tied to BTC.

Yah and so what is the problem that it is in disconnect with reality?

Why the fuck do people come here and ask everyone to be grounded, real, don't be a fanboy, don't appreciate Evan to fanboy level etc. I am getting equally tired of these realists just like the fanboys. I mean no one checks any other threads and don't see delusions on ANY coin, be it BTC, LTC or any other shitcoin?

Even if you want to ask others to be realists, try a better approach. Some of you come as downright attacking and condescending. Come on.

Hold approx. $4335K on masternodes now.

This means %14 all the coins.

This is an excellent thing.

Note: If masternode number exceeded 2000 in the future, miners will go crazy. ASIC manufacturers will explode for x11.

Spork means we could push for two-stage hard fork to modified algo to prevent ASICs, if that is what people want in the future.
