How do we get nem coins
The IPO more or less closed on February 17 (or March 2, it's nebulous). The waiting list closed yesterday. The finalized stakeholder list should be posted Soon™, and some original slots may/may not be opened, and there might be a method implemented to include a few more folks. Or maybe not. I'm in no way affiliated with NEM other than being a general supporter and getting anxious like everyone else. Once there's an alpha, I'm pretty sure folks will be spreading NEM around so it can be adopted by as many users as possible. so it wont be possible to generate this coin? Only buying on exchangers Per the FAQ: (4) How many coins will each stakeholder get? The number of NEM per stakeholder is determined as follows:
No. of NEM per stakeholder = (4,000,000,000-Development stakes)/number of stakeholders
The number isn't final just yet, but will likely be just over a million NEM per stakeholder So, no... like patmast3r said, no mining in the traditional sense. All 4 billion (or whatever the final number is) will be available upon launch. Then it'll be like a big NEM food fight, flinging coins in every direction.

So of the people on the waiting list, what kind of people will most likely get in? Considering what they can bring to the table. And will they have to provide solid proof that they are who they say they are?
Maybe Utopianfuture should recruit 100 good people or so.
it take us long time to wait with no new information and we do not know whether we were take as a backup investor ,we need to know the truth here. I would recommend inviting Sr. members of this forum to participate with a share of NEM. There is no advantage to allowing the newbie "this coin great" members who are most likely sockpuppets anyway. +1 +100 will they get a free stake? I think that their donation/ fees should be at least higher than the last fee (0.075BTC or 750NXT) sent in for stakeholders. What if we just make an auction and sell these stakes to the highest bidders ,that will decide starting price for nemcoins

Development update: The development contract announcement will be delayed. My plan is to have the announcement when we have a clear road map of NEM development going forward and preferably within 1-2 weeks of the alpha launch. Unfortunately, at this point we don't have an ETA for the alpha launch yet and consequently, the formal announcement is delayed. My guesstimate of the Alpha is still on later part of April but there are quite a few things that needs to be worked on before we can make a solid ETA. We currently have two repo, one for NEM infrastructure codes and one for NEM client codes and quite a few other concurrent projects going on. Progress is made on daily basis and team-quality wise I think we are as strong as Ethereum group except that NEM team and development are still in a stealthy mode. NEM client would be called NEM community client (NCC) and here is NCC specification written by Thies1965. Feel free to comment on it. https://docs.google.com/document/d/10ZVrzuS_krjRF5rMvt5oKl3IS3VOhF_qnn2faZb7KZQ/editThese are some mock-up design of NCC https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9jSTPeGZxgtTjVncFlmMmJ6LW8&usp=sharingI hope you like what NCC will look like in the future. Let me know if you are a developer and interested in working on expanding NEM ecosystem. I have some ideas about the future direction of NEM that I could share and I am very excited about it. Thanks. the mock-up design looks great.

to make it more fair everyone on waiting list could get 100k for fixed amount, the rest of nems coud be auctioned between waiting list members or publicly where anyone could participate

Also am very curios to learn a lot about this subject, hopefully I'll have the chance to learn from experience with Nem.

Is there going to be an auction based Exchange on the NEM AE? That would be so awesome. I use ebay quite alot and would really like to see some decentralized crypto version. I imagine it would also attract lots of first time users, since they can just sell stuff for NEM instead of buying them. Then again I'm no tech guy so I dont know how easy it would be to implement a decentralized auction system.

I like the auction idea and we could probably do so to the public for a part of open slots. Qualified people in the waiting list should be offered a stake at a fixed price though.
