15% is not a lot?   Shocked

Let's be very conservative and say NEM will reach 1000 sats per NEM.
600 million X 0.00001000 = 6,000 BTC

I would expect to see an unprecedented media storm for that amount! Take in to account that a 1000 sats is the very least one NEM would reach.

Then again, a lot of new coins / networks don't spend enough on marketing, that's even worse... Still 15% IS a lot of NEM.

Yes it would be a lot if we would just keep it and settle on an island but imho when you put it into context of what can and will be done with it it's not that much.

Say we run our own exchange. The funds to build and run it plus the funds to keep it liquid - that's just a lot of dough that's necessary to pull that off.

It's not like the team is putting it into their pockets  Wink

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I think that the plan to reserve 25% (of max 10% for developer compensation) for promotion etc. purposes of NEM is way too much. Even 100 million NEM should be enough for this purpose. Reserving that much NEM for the use of so few people seems kinda shady.

And if that much NEM would be reserved for promotion purposes etc. I think every original NEM stakeholder should have an easy way of having a vote on how these NEMs will be used.

Do you think exchanges will add NEM willy nilly ? They'll want bounties and since we'd like to go for more premuim exchanges they'll want A LOT !
When I say premuim exchanges I mean exchanges that don't add every shitcoin that comes around the corner.

This would be fine for everyone of us!  Grin

Nevertheless it could need much time to achieve that marketcap.  Wink

I'm saying that the 15% (discounting the max 10% for developers) is a bit too much for that purpose alone. The percentage that goes to the original stakeholders should be more, and the percentage for promotion should be a bit lower. I think that 15% for the use of so few is a distribution problem and would be a problem for NEM.

Dude i think 15% is fair so long as everything is transparent there is no problems. :
Or would you prefer constant demands for stakeholders to donate !

It's used for the entire community. The process will be transparent and as always the team will listen to what the community has to say.
I don't think it's a problem as long as the team keeps it's promise to use it wisely and in a transparent manner.

To remind everyone that the current final stakeholder list does not include the waiting list yet. I will contact the waiting list in a few days to invite them in. However I would like to write a brief proposal on the NEM governance and and future road map first.

It would also serve as an additional source of information for people planning to participate in NEM auction later on.
