What is the actual thread about Nxt since the original thread is closed?

I read about hashrate org the first time here.

what do you think about launching the pool asap.. before nem launches to obtain as much btc as possible and buy nem with it after launch and distribute the nem to miners proportionally based on the hashing power provided up until launch? this way we can also build up the hashing power so we have a large amount hopefully at launch and continue mining and then nem distribution can become autonomous?

The core team won't be able to do it. So it is up to our stakeholder community.

From my experience, it was the multipools that in often cases caused sudden difficulty/hashing rate spikes in new coins once the multipools adopted them. As far as I could see, multipools were both PoW's strength, but more a weakness. A PoS coin like NEM could take advantage of them Smiley

ok great thanks allot! anyone else like to help out? come on guys this is guna benefit ye all greatly!

we could be i wouldnt know who to ask... :/ do you know anyone?

what sort of conditions should we set for the bounty to be paid?

what algos should it support? what stats need to be shown? ect ect..?

@ devs

for the developers peace of mind can we get conformation that the amount pledged by people goes to the dev of the multipool. take a list of who is pledging and how much and when coins are being distributed deduct that amount and send direct to the dev? therefore anyone who pledges cannot just not give it to the dev! i think this is a safeguard we need for the dev! il keep track of it in a spread sheet if you like and send it to you when the amount pledged reaches a sufficient amount?

any chance we can get a stake or two to give to the pool to increase profitability for the miners!? how much and for how long ect ect i wouldnt have a clue about.. 2 stakes split between miners based on hash power provided to the pool, given when all the nem is bought at launch? sound good? that would be a shit load of a bonus! can we do this devs? suggestions?

It has been done before. I think NXT has a multipool allthough I'm not sure it's already operational.

AFAIK UP came up with the idea initially so he should be on board. No idea what the rest of the devs think.

i think he means has a multipool been launched for a pos coin before the coin itself has actually launched.. could be wrong though.. by the way the nxt pool is officially launching soon and coming out of beta with 10% bonus for all miners a day!

I would personally support NEM multi pool since as I understand it would give miners automatous access to NEM without paying for NEM directly via an an exchange. That is a valuable service to NEM making it accessible to everyone with different tastes since I think some people are  averse to the idea of buying a cypto directly.

Green marketing ploy started with Peercoin people and continued by Nxt people but never actually caught on. imho, the issue should be rephrased better under the term of network efficiency. NEM network is more efficient than Bitcoin because it takes less power to maintain and still have the same level of security. The efficiency gain comes from utilizing POS/ POI foraging algorithm instead POW algorithm which consumes much more power at the same time gives rise to a computational arm-race whenever bitcoin price is increasing. So we can say the "green" aspect comes from the algorithm each network utilizes not really related to the method how an individual choose to obtain the coin.

I am interested in hearing other opinions but I would think a multi-pool could be considered an useful part of NEM ecosystem as much as an exchange is. But I agree with what someone said before that the multi pool idea will be less and less potent when more people are adopting it.

Anyway: just a reminder to all that stake-complaint thread will still be open until Friday to all refunding complaints (one week from the last update when the list was published). After Friday all refunding without a complaint would be final and we can move on to consolidate the final stakeholder list further and start to invite people in the waiting list to be in. Thanks.
nice work,dev.
move on to invite more people in.

anyone that wants to donate towards the bounty of the multipool please pm me with the amount you wish to donate.

i have other things to be doing also so i cannot be going back through the thread later to check who said how much.

thanks

Pledge? or Donate?

Guess you mean Donate BTC?

Definitely not.

This whole multipool idea is fueled purely by greed and NEM is not even released.

Completely unbelievable. Yet, I completely believe it. The nature of people will never cease to amaze me.

My 2 NEM - Do some proper research, a multipool will only harm NEM - Stop jumping on the BC bandwagon.

All views are my own, except those that I have subconsciously inherited from my parents and those that I have nicked from far cleverer people.

I'm not sure a multi pool is in NEMs interest. The value of this technology should be derived from the underlying technology. The value should not be derived from an influx of BTC/NEM buys at the onset. To me this screams pump.

Be involved in cryptos, I thought we are all capitalists here. Let's let the markets decide price and value.

The buying of nem by the multipool should be scheduled on a long period.
For example wait 1 week for the price to stabilize, then buy at a price 10% more than the average price of previous week.
Repeat until fund are exhausted, or last as long as bicoin/week income = value of nem bought each week.

Actually, it might well be worth your while to handle the buys manually. That's how the Community Coin multipool is being run. In COMM's case, that's how it had to be because the multipool is a shack jobbie put together on a shoestring. But because the COMM buys are done manually, it can buy into the dips instead of insta-buying: automatic buys run the risk of buying into a bubble.

In COMM's case, that's the way it had to be - but COMM's penury can be your luxury. Just put an experienced spread trader in charge of the buys and you'll do much better than with an insta-buying algo.

Why ?

hes a big fat cat miner and doesnt want pow to die lol

220k nem pledged. anyone else want to pledge toward the pool?

possible dev on board! will inform when more is known! 220k is not enough we need more!

Lets not be too hasty now, i think they make perfectly valid points. However, in light of what you said, a multipool really has more pro's than cons, at least when used for a PoS coin like NEM. I'm eager to see how NXT handles using the same idea.

Also, i'd be happy to pledge to this cause - I'll pm you with what i'd intend to pledge. I'd also be happy to put forth more as and when more information becomes available, such as who will be organizing this multipool, managing it and running it. I'll be watching this idea develop, assuming it does.

I would personally support NEM multi pool since as I understand it would give miners automatous access to NEM without paying for NEM directly via an an exchange. Couldn't agree more. Although buying directly is also a good option to have - keeping options open is pretty important.
