Would they really throw grandma in to complete the scam? The photos provide quite a bit of legitimacy, but I'm holding out for a trusted reviewer until I'll call this thing legit. Aye, note the equip and the My TPS manual as well. Not shit someone buys for their welfare loft to pull a scam. ;p Edit; I wish 'Ninja Queen' was my grandma. =)

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system. - GA

This seems to be getting more legit by the day. +1 looks like it Inaba, if you haven't already, you might need to send them a PM. I suspect they have disabled email notifications on this thread Interesting that the "November production update" wasn't linked anywhere on the site - it looks to be an orphan page. Perhaps it is a simple oversight.

Some of you act like Occam's Razor hasn't been formulated yet... The guy was obviously reading this thread and does his best to appear legit. If anywone were to develop custom chips this would be announced way ahead before the development even starts. Almost everything happening is rigorously debated within the community. Think of it: It makes absolutely no sense to quietly develop something and then release a 'product' (be it preorder) to the public. Everything going on around here is thoroughly debated and the demand judged. Especially for something like this. If there were a real ASIC developed everybody would know about it in the forum. The only way this makes any sense at all if this actually is a scam, then it makes very much sense to come up with something, avoid discussion and trying not to expose oneself too much... srsy guys I am beginning to wonder if some heads are screwed on right

Scam or not, I'm not sending a dime until its 'VERIFIED'. And even if that weren't the case all the 'scam trolling' isn't doing anyone any favors.

I've been in contact with BFL via PMs. They are on board with letting me test out a box for legitimacy and performance.
I don't have any information beyond that, though.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place.

Hi guys, Thanks for all your insightful comments. Although we have concluded it's best to allow this thread to continue on it's own course, I know there are readers among you interested in an update, so I thought I'd post a link to our last production blog update. http://butterflylabs.com/november-production-update/Also... In roughly two weeks, we will be ready to schedule an open viewing and live product demonstration here in Kansas City. I would also like to remind everyone that we have an existing offer to send a sample unit to a member of the forum community capable of performing a formal proof of work analysis. There was no serious response to that offer last time on the forum, but we have received private suggestions and we will add them to the list as we bring it to a vote. If you care to offer additional nominations, please keep in mind that bitcoin network systems expertise and not general hardware experience would make for better qualification. In sum, we're getting very close. I'm sorry for not engaging in your warm discussion, but after all, Missouri is the "Show me" state and I think that's the right sentiment for the moment. Kind regards, BFL JoelKatz and artforz are probably the men to send them to.

Waiting in anticipation, this will really change the equilibrium of bitcoin mining if it is as good as claimed.

Good deal. Hopefully soon(tm). @Randy Most definetly Joel and Artforz are very much qualified. Probably over qualified in the case of Artforz. He'd have their chip mapped out in no time. Please, please send him one. ;p

I vote for Inaba as a tester, since he lives in the same area as Butterflylabs and also is a pool operator and programmer. And I also think the only wise thing to do in this matter is to wait till a trusted member of this community has recieved and tested a unit. But of course, I wouldn't advise anyone to preorder this unit as there's too many unknowns at the moment. It needs to be verified thoroughly, and I think Inaba's suggestions for how to do this makes 100% logical sense.

I still don't believe it, with the original, "Who would price something at a quarter of what the market will bear?"
The answer is either they are scamming, or are business mongoloids.

Regarding the posted link to Butterfly's business registration, I get:
"Firefox can't find the server at wyobiz.wy.gov."
They also chose not to respond to the community about their missing business registration, or their fake business address. Instead we get another photo of the board. This time with a heat spreader!
As usual they ignore the giant holes in their story and try to keep your attention on the pretty pictures instead.
I'm a small business owner myself. If people in my target market were arguing whether or not I was a real business you can bet I'd squash that rumor very quickly. Why let people spread provably false rumors about your business? No real businessmas would sit back and not respond to these accusations.
Since I obviously think it's all a scam, why not just go away and stop posting about it? That's easy. I've been scammed before. We all have. IT SUCKS. Scammers discredit the whole community.

Relax guys ! Sit back and wait. As long as no one lost money there is no need for hate.
If they can deliver 1GH/s with their device they will be rich soon enough ! I do understand why they won't come up with every detail. It looks like they have something nobody else has. Soon enough the time will come to proove that what they were working at can match their claims. I wish them luck.

Maybe they also have discovered the 25nm process before Intel and co. too ?

Anyone familiar with VIA's newer C7 tech, where they have sha-1, sha-256, and other crypto capabilities designed into the processers?
25nm tech is not necessary to achieve the numbers BFL is claiming. While their claims are of the extreme, 2 full processors, each a 'stacked' design fpga/asic would be more than capable. The caveat being the usual cost in developing such a chip or chip combo if stacked. Until they pop one out to someone or atleast give some design info or such we really don't know.
Friggin show us one mining already!!! *grovels shamelessly*
