Seems the new Bitmaintech S4's will only work on the Guild....... Expect your hash rate to go up  And others say they don't work on Guild...I love how it seems ASICs are becoming even less consistent than their first generation units. Everything I've ever mined with from 1st gen stuff to the most recent gear has worked best at the Guild. I have several old Bitfury rigs still running and they only like it here. They didn't even work well on GHash and that's their bread & butter miner, lol. |

That's because more and more of them doing their drivers and cgminer forks all themselves and don't involve us any more. Occasionally they ping us after the fact and expect us to fix their problems. It's a bizarre hardware+software disconnect landscape... |

The S4 works great on BTCGuild. Just set difficulty for its worker to 2048. Seems the new Bitmaintech S4's will only work on the Guild....... It is a firmware issue.
They are working on it now.
Shame they didn't work on it before shipping them: Our R&D team is testing the latest firmware, we will upload it to our official website once it is ready.

Which to me sounds like a hardware issue - or is it the firmware that decides how much power is provided to the controller? It's not a firmware issue. The controller hardware they bundle with it is not fast enough to handle running at low diffs, and most pools start at a lower diff for a while before vardiff pushes them up. If they stay low diff long enough the controller never catches up. I gave them a driver code workaround (i.e. hack) to get over this hurdle. It means they'll (appear to) run at low hashrates for a while until the pool reaches a diff suitable for the device. When they say it's a firmware issue, they mean they'll offer new firmware with an updated cgminer to address the issue. |

They weren't even clear on if and when they'd use the hack, but the only US contact I have took the patch. I can only hazard a guess that there is zero chance of them using a different controller this late in their production phase. As for btcguild, to stay on topic, it's probably time you further increased the minimum/starting diff here anyway given what hardware is left hashing these days. |

The default difficulty for workers has been increased from 4 to 32. Existing worker settings have not been changed, and new workers can be adjusted back down to lower levels if desired. The filtering server (the server you initially connect to) has also been updated to a difficulty of 16 before it will redirect you to the appropriate backend/loadbalancer. As usual, the filtering server is only accessed for a single submission when you first attempt a connection to stratum.btcguild.com or eu-stratum.btcguild.com.

Just passed 25 billion shares submitted. Unfortunately it looks like I may be shutting down before I can get to 30 billion unless the price of BTC is on the rebound. |

I know this has probably been covered a million times, but is there any way of changing a locked BTC payout address? I know, it's locked for a reason. But, I haven't mined for a good while, and when I logged in to BTCGuild I noticed a small number of coins sitting there under an old BTC address I no longer have.  |
