Thanks os2sam.

The moving to the usb 2.0 seemed to do the trick.  I am holding steady at 300 MHz.  Thanks 419Mining!

When my other NewPacs arrive, I just need to stop CGminer, plug them in, and fire the program back up, correct?  All miners will work with the same settings and command?

Edit:  Spoke too soon.  I am being autotuned back down:  https://s1065.photobucket.com/user/vickersja/media/Capture2.png.html

You should just need to plug the miners in and CGMiner will find them on the fly while running.

I had a similar issue when using my win10 pc. Windows is a PITA when in comes to gekkos. Have you tried the “noboost” option in the command line?

Check the top post

Q. Does the NewPac/R606 support AsicBoost.

Mostly.
  • If you receive shared rejected messages from a specific pool, you can disable asicboost with "--gekko-noboost".

AsicBoost on Win10 may not always work.
  • If you see the frequency drop as soon as it starts up, you can use a modified version of AsicBoost "--gekko-lowboost" or disable asicboost with the command above.

Thank you!  That did it.  Holding steady at 300MHz for over an hour.

I read through the entire 70+ page thread but forgot the simple stuff on page 1.  Smiley

Ill give the low boost command a try.  If it does not work ill go back to no boost command.

Edit:  Low Boost is also holding steady at specified MHz.  Thanks again!

Glad you got it sorted. Just as a heads up, when I ran on win10 it did drop tge sticks out occasionlly and if left to run it will run out of numbers (dont know the texhnical term) and then the sticks will stop running completely. Just keep an eye on it and restart it if you notice them dropping out.

Hi guys,

i have 2 Problems with my NewPacs. I'm running 9 Newpacs and 2 2Pacs on my Raspberry Pi 3b+ with Raspbian.

After sometimes 1 hour sometimes 3-4 hours it stopps mining and i get an output like this:

Code:
Message from syslogd@raspberry
 kernel:[1637.374589] 7fa080101000 802bfb61.195013205.5201d18 00075.61 802c55 ...

Second Problem is: I bought 6 new Newpac miner.

One of them was running for about 1 hour, than 0 Asics found. They are running at 250MHz and are cool running i have 2 80mm² *-100m³/h  Fans for 6 Sticks. The Older sticks are also running for over one year without Problem same setting.

What hub are you using? Also the pi3 shares the usb bus with the ethernet connection (i think from what ive read in here) and it will saturate the bandwith and cause issues.

Will do.  1 is running now.  Other 3 should be arriving today.  Thanks again!

[...]

sounds like a Kernel panic, theres a known bug in cgminer on Raspbian having to do with the SLUB debugging (slub_debug=FP fix) that causes kernel panic. This may not be the problem, but a good place to start. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=494625.msg5932931#msg5932931

i use the original gekkoscience hyena hub-,  so may i try connecting with wlan instead of ethernet? in this theory it could solve it, right?

Good Morning,

Woke up this morning to one of my NewPacs not working.  Both the green and white lights were solid.  I removed it from the hub and ran it on a separate instance of CGMiner to isolate it.  No dice.  Any idea what may have happened?  I did have it running at 300MHz for about 4 days with no problems and with active cooling.

Thank you.

I know you said you have good cooling on it, so its most likely not a overheating issue. Can you try unplugging it for an hour or so and see if it works after that? just give it a nice rest to discharge and reset all the vcore strings.

it sounds strange, but does correct the issue some times.

I didn't catch that unfortunately.

I just tried it again and CGMiner flashed ZOMBIE.  Then found 0 chips.  Both lights are illuminated.  Other 3 are humming away.

Any signs of anything on the PCB itself? Have you tried in a different port on the hub? Have you adjusted the voltage pot at any point since you received it?

Sorry, whats a PCB?  Yes, different port on hub and different hub altogether.  I have not touched the voltage on any of them.

Thank you.  No, it looks brand new.

EDIT:  So after letting the miner sit for a few days I tried it again.  Up and running just fine.  Very strange...
