Real Madrid just didn’t want to go further as in the moment Atalanta got a completely unjustified red card from a big error from the referee Real calmed down as they know they are going to easily qualify for the next round.Real has a lot of injured players so they are hoping to recover some of them for the next game after they pass through Atalanta.It should be a walk in the park the return leg for them in Santiago Bernabeu.

True there were a lot of injured players but real madrid players are not performing well this season if it werent for the red card they would have not win and the next match wont be easy but with this poor performance even if they pass this round when they play against bayern or city they will lose.

According to the performance of Real Madrid in this game, I think the result could be way different if Atalanta didn't play with 10 players. Seems my idea worked out Chelsea won 1-0 and they should have even win with at least two goals ahead since Chelsea was clearly the better team with some missed chances.

That really surprised me winning with 1-0 against Atletico. Great job with getting advantage over if first leg but yeah its not job done yet .

The team is much more stable in the defence and the offensive is more effective. That doesn't mean that they will move on to the next round. The second leg will not be easy. But they scored an away goal so they can play for a draw now. All cards are with Chelsea.

I agree with you. The only thing you have to criticize about the current development of Chelsea are the few goals they score. They have many good opportunities that they often miss. If they become even more effective, Chelsea could at least make it to the semi-finals of the CL. It's also up to Werner, who hasn't really made it into the team yet and has more of a support role in the offensive, on the contrary to his time in Leipzig. I am curious whether he can make his potential available to the team in the upcoming matches.

Man City didn't even play that well but it was still more than enough to beat Gladbach. They could have even scored more goals than they did.
Madrid vs Bergamo was also not very exciting. The very early and probably unjustified red card for bergamo resulted in a defensive battle from bergamo for the rest of the match and Real barely managed to score a goal close to the end of the game.
They really need to improve if they want to reach the semi-final or more.

IMO Real Madrid is very lucky to win this game with that kind of the game play. I also agreed with you how long they could remain lucky and with current game style it would be hard for them to survive in next round where competition will be more though so they need to learn from their mistakes and improve it before this game.

Manchester City could really have scored at least even 4 goals in this match but I assume they didn't want to wear out so much as they are gonna play against West Ham home in two days. They are trying to balance the two tournaments I think. They want to be the champions in the EPL and do their best in the CL also.

I won the bet in both the matches yesterday. But those two matches were not competitive. I thought Gladbach would be able to put up a strong resistance against Manchester City. But they have failed miserably. They were not able to make any strong attack. On the other hand, getting a red card at the beginning of the match slowed down Atalanta's gameplay. Manchester City got a nice result even though they were not very good. It shows that Gladbach are really bad right now and City will finish their work in the second leg very easily. As for Atalanta-Real Madrid, I think the result is still not too bad for Atalanta if we think that they played with 10 players for a very long time. I didn't like this Real Madrid even a little and Atalanta have still a chance to make it to the quarter final as Real Madrid are struggling with injuries too.

lol why it was a disaster day? I believe most people assumed City to win which was the case and for Real Madrid, I believe their supporters do trust them to win which was also the case although many waited to see Atalanta do something.
Overall the game wasn't that bad, that red card made Atalanta concentrate less on attacking, that's why the game doesn't have many goals as expected. For the VAR, no need to check it since it is pointless to give 2 red cards for the same Atalanta's player. He deserves it and the decision was right.

It’s football buddy, some games are tight with low goals. It doesn’t help with the no fans situation, it’s killing football. Empty stadia sucks the life out of football.

I cannot deny that the game was somewhat boring, but in this case betting is a different world, of course what was expected was that Real Madrid won with force, all more emotion in these games, but we could wait, I am sure there will be better presentations, the level of football that was shown was something bad but congrats to those who won in general.

It was a terrible penalty decision and I was shocked by referee not even checking VAR. It was absolutely a wrong decision and it cost Atalanta maybe a victory or a draw. Real Madrid still played very boringly and hardly scored a goal finally in the last minutes.

It's a probability statement, i can't say i was clearly satisfied with the officials decision but then, Real Madrid could still have won the match. It's always not a very good idea to make a penalty call in a relatively equaled team game, its more like making the odds uneven for one team as well as spoiling the morale of the other so, it doesn't work so well. But, its decided and the refs final whistle is what settles it.
Manchester city on the other hand dominated the Borussia Moenchengladbach team and won as expected as well. It was a winning Wednesday.

I think this is a free judge's conviction and not an obvious and intentional mistake.
Don’t forget that Real had a lot of injured players who couldn’t play and that certainly affected their performance on the pitch.
Great teams find their way to victory even in difficult moments.
It seems to me that Real could remain the only Spanish club in this competition which is surprising given the quality of the Spanish league.

I think the result of Barcelona v PSG is the result that most people predict, a 1-4 defeat is not an easy defeat to be avenged in the second leg
