Excellent work shown by Villarreal, they managed to get rid of seeded team Bayern Munich from the Champions League. The victory in the first leg and a draw in the second leg made them the first team to qualify for the semifinals. Actually Bayern Munich played well, but Villarreal's defense was much more solid so it could close Bayern Munich's chances of creating chances. Absolutely amazing, congratulations to Villarreal.

I haven't witnessed an entertaining match between Chelsea and Real Madrid in a long time, and who would have predicted Chelsea to play as well as they did last night? It was a tremendous battle fought even if Chelsea lost to Real Madrid. Mendy didn't learn his lessons at Arena stadium and that's how they conceded to Real Madrid in their additional minutes. Benzema had his opportunities with Mendy and he made sure he exploited them at each possible moment, even if it wasn't scoring until that last moment heading that gave them an additional goal.

Indeed this match is one of the big and also interesting matches in the Champions League. A total of 9 goals were created from 2 matches played, even in the second leg it took 120 minutes to determine who was the winner. For those who watched the first match, Villarreal's exit in 1\2 was not a surprise. Emery's team played both matches perfectly (especially the first one) and if Villarreal had been more lucky, then everything could have been decided in the first match, where Villarreal could have scored 2-3 goals calmly. I just can't believe how Munich got knocked out in the quarter-finals. I think Munich is the favorite for the final. but in reality, they did not easily get past the quarter-finals and had to be beaten by Villarreal.
Munich played very openly because they were chasing goals down. they managed to equalize but in the end, they had to lose. Villarreal read well the strategy and gaps from Munich. good ending for Villarreal.

I also thought Munich can make it to the final this year. Villareal played them very well. Bayern Munich failed to qualify to the semi finals of the champions league. The yellow Submarine stopped the Bundesliga giant from qualifying for the next round after they scored close to stoppage time to levelled the game to a 1-1 draw, goal aggregate is 2-1 which Villarreal is leading. It was then that Bayern Munich became serious and put on enough pressure but it was all absolved by the their guest, in the Allianz arena. Bayern Munich put up everything they got but couldn't hold back Villarreal from scoring. The game was full of interesting counter attacks from Bayern Munich who dominated the game with enough pressure but failed to convert it to goals, rather they gained possession, shots on target and off target.

Not unexpectedly Bayern Munich will go home first from the Champions League following an aggregate loss to Villarreal. I thought they would have done the same when they got past the last 16, but now they are getting a different result.

At first I thought Real Madrid would be hit by a comeback from Chelsea, but Real Madrid were able to equalize on aggregate and that allowed them to once again manage to deliver an outstanding performance. Chelsea also played well if only they didn't concede in the second half. In extra time Real Madrid again ensured victory with a goal from their goal-hungry bomber, Karim Benzema. Regardless of the final result, it was a great match played by these two teams.

I really hope that Chelsea would get a new owner ASAP and they don't get into administration/bankruptcy.
They played really well against Real Madrid and only the genius of Benzema stopped them from kicking out Real.

Chelsea showed great football, scoring three away goals. Honestly, I thought it was almost impossible, but they did it. I already thought they could win this game, but at the end of the match Real Madrid scored a goal and the whole game broke down. Shame that Chelsea didn't go on, but Real Madrid were good too. Apart from the defeat, Chelsea did look amazing in this second leg, they were even able to turn things around even though they actually lost in the end. These 3 goals under pressure from the Real Madrid crowd is absolutely incredible, plus they were trailing in the first leg. But Real Madrid are a mentally strong team, so they can overcome their losses in peace.

No matter that Chelsea crashed out of the Champion league, they were not disgraced. The boys exhibited character in yesterday's Champion league match with Real Madrid in Spain. The Real Madrid team and fans were surprised at what Chelsea did to them yesterday evening in the second leg of their match.  Chelsea was denied a fine goal scored by Alonso. The whole world knows that Chelsea won that match outright.

Bayern dominated the game but wasted so many opportunities to score goals, almost the same as what they did in the first leg. Villareal played effectively with the defensive strategy and luckily they could score a goal. Villareal is the dark horse in this competition, they have sent Juventus and Bayern home which were something unexpected. Next round will be harder for Villareal as high likely they will have to face Liverpool in Semi-Finals, will they able to reach the Final?

On paper Bayern Munich will still win but this time I will try something different that Villarreal seems to be able to defend well and discipline, because just a draw is enough for Villarreal to qualify. Villarreal themselves are not a weak team and sometimes they can also do a good defense during the game, so I think if Bayern Munich get unlucky then it looks like this match will end goalless aka 0-0.

As i predicted Bayern dominated the match but unfortunately they couldn't break through the Villarreal defense and this proven that statistics means nothing in this match because with 68% ball possessions and 23 total of shots cannot makes Bayern win the match however although Villareal went to semi-final but possibly for next season we won't see them playing at champion league again this because their current position on LaLiga was 7th and with 11 points behind Atletico i think it's very hard for them to reach top 4

Well i would not say that Bayern failed miserably in the match yesterday because they totally dominated that game and could have easily won yesterday with 3-0 or more. Villareal basically scored their goal with their first shot on the goal and that guy did not even hit the ball correctly so it was a really lucky outcome of the match yesterday for Villareal. That being said it is also true that in the first leg of this match up Villareal could have also won with 3-0 so if we are looking at both games here then i would say it is not undeserved that Villareal goes through to the next round. The performance yesterday was ok from Bayern, their performance in the first leg was miserable.

Two big matches today. Frankly speaking I did not watch many matches this year but I usually do not miss big teams. Watched both first legs fortunately. The football schedule is very tough for the teams.

The plot seems comparatively easy for both City and Liverpool considering the wins in their first legs. Especially when you have 1 - 3 away win then you will consider yourself ahead. City just needs to keep the stamina to draw their match but in the next round going against Real would have harder test for them than Liverpool against Villarreal.
