Being in thier home and playing on the pitch that is known by them I still fail to understand how Pakistani bowlers became so incompetent against the English side. I have not clue what went wrong the only answer to such a debacle would be that the pitch is batter friendly. The best argument to my theory is that out of 4 wickets lost by England all these batters scored century.

First day of this test cricket is providing to be an embarrassment for the Pakistani team. PCB is not generating any revenue in this tournament as most of thier earnings is being spent on the security of English players and then the team is performing so bad.

Test matches should be played on bowling-friendly pitches. Then the match is competitive. Both teams have equal chances of winning. But enjoying such test matches on batting-friendly, these types of matches are so boring. A lot of time is wasted. And these matches do not result, most of the time the matches are drawn.
England scored 506 runs in just 75 overs. It's unbelievable. They scored 6.74 runs per over. And their collection is 96 in the last 10 overs. Pakistan is playing a home match after a long time. The Pakistani audience may not have imagined that they would perform so badly.

This is surely one of the worst thing happen in recent time and credit goes to PCB which is never been an ideal cricket board and have never been done things which help cricket instead of pitch like this they can go an airport run away which could be better feeling frustrated with this pitch and start of the match which is already showing going to end with usual result of draw or lost of Pakistan because their batting is never been ideal for any situation, and they can go under pressure after having score like 700+ in first inning by England.

Today I was reading few social media posts and mostly Pakistani fans were also frustrated and giving amazing memes about Rambo and his approach about this historical series first against Australia and now England same shit happening which is never been positive for the game of cricket.

It's more like a Pakistani problem tbh and it's quite new as well. They just don't have confidence in their bowling and batting against BIG-3 ( in that case Aussie and Poms) They give spicy wickets to every other team like windies, Ban, SA, SL.

You would never see this kind of pitch in India, last time India prepared a flat deck against England (their last tour), the curator got fired unofficially. There is a reason we didn't lose a single test series in the last decade. This might change in the next 6 months or so tho.

Who is going to watch such one-sided matches, which will almost certainly end in a draw? This is one of the most efficient methods to drive fans away from cricket. A few years back, ICC had this suggestion of doing away with the toss and giving the option to the visiting team whether they want to bat first or bowl first. That was a good suggestion actually, and would have prevented matches such as this one being played.

Most of the time I never watch Pakistan test matches specially which are playing on Pakistani soil because they have never been done anything which bring some good entertainment for the fans and first day of the first test match between Pakistan vs England giving all impression of this series which is surely going to be ended with the result of draw or lost for Pakistan because as they have done tactics like these ended against them as we have in last series against Australia.

Even mostly peoples were talking Rambo is having very good vision for the Pakistan cricket, but things like these surely not going to help him and his vision for the Pakistan team which is playing with two fast bowlers which are debutant, and they are bowling on pitch like this which is graveyard for them, it's going surely never been ideal situation for any team.

Very bad pitch. Can't do the bowler any favors. The batsmen are scoring runs very easily. And definitely the result of this match shows that the match will be a draw. Australia scored 598 runs losing only 4 wickets. Steven Smith was unbeaten with 200 runs. On the other hand, West Indies batted 25 overs. They have not lost any wicket yet. And I think West Indies players can collect at least more than 450 very easily. We will enjoy a boring test match of 5 days.

If test cricket is played on a flat deck, I think there is no point to play that cricket match at all because, in the end, it is going to be a draw. Whichever team will feel like they are not in a chance of winning is most likely to play for a draw. And there is basically nothing that the other team can do about it because getting a wicket on those pitches is almost impossible unless the batting team makes mistakes.

Pakistan cricket board made this mistake recently. Because they wanted to be too safe so that they do not lose. But I think that they actually lost anyway. But at the same time, we will have to understand that the cricket boards are going to do things like that. Because first of all, they need to win, not think about how to entertain the fans. And secondly e at this point people barely care about test cricket. So it is easier for cricket boards to do such things.

@JSRAW they started slowly but are 160 runs in 24 overs and that’s not bad score for a test match, and I believe that you underestimated them very early in the game. Furthermore given the news about that stomach bug I’m surprised that the match is yet on, but the key question is will England player’s be able to last all 5 day’s because from the news report it felt that they may not be at full strength heading into this match.

The way England are collecting runs, it seems that they will win the match even if they cannot survive for 5 days. England lost the first wicket for 233 runs. England collected 233 runs in 35.4 overs. They scored more than 6.5 runs per over. Looking at the batting of England's two openers, I don't think this is a Test format match. Batting like this, it is not a difficult task for England to collect more than 500 on the first day. Pakistan bowlers today look helpless on their own pitch.

But right now I just think that they are only decreasing the quality with these types of things. And if these types of things continue to happen, I think it will not be long before other teams lose interest in playing in Pakistan. The Pakistan cricket board, however, does not seem to be taking the competition seriously, they are just trying to take the easy way out. 

The current test match that is being played between Pakistan and England, is probably going to be one-sided because I have not said anything about the bowlers yet. And I don't think it is going to change even on the fifth day.

May be the pitch is flat and there is nothing the Pakistan bowlers could do, everyone scored a century except Joe Root. These type of flat wickets will not attract fans to Test cricket. Need some competitive aspect to the match and if not it will end up in a draw unless the Pakistan batsman messes up.

Even Australia set a huge total with Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith scoring double centuries and Travis Head missing on his century by a run. Flat batting pitches everywhere as West Indies also had a great start without loosing any wickets.

Similarly, the West Indies are off to a great start, but they still have a long way to go! What are the chances of West Indies extending their winning streak tomorrow? West Indies could be down 3-4 today. Even though they bowled well, they couldn't get an edge. Despite Australia's strong bowlers, WI is doing well. I look forward to seeing Chanderpaul score big tomorrow with those bouncy bowls. As far as I'm concerned, this test match will end in a draw.

I will be happy if England scores more than 700-800 runs in the first innings. We will see a new record. Usually, we don't see any teams batting at a run rate of more than 4 in test matches. But England's run rate is more than 6.5. If England players perform today like the last day then I think they will be able to collect more than 800 today.
If England collects like 800 then the Pakistan Cricket Board will understand very well how stupid it is to choose a flat pitch.
After a long time, they got an opportunity to organize a series. Pakistan Cricket Board should have tried its best to make the series competitive and enjoyable. As general viewers, we are not interested in enjoying such boring matches.

West Indies are in trouble, as Nkrumah Bonner got retired hurt. Kraigg Brathwaite is batting alongside Jermaine Blackwood, and they still need another 281 runs just to avoid the follow on. I really don't understand the purpose in having such one-sided matches. What we need is two divisions in test cricket and teams such as West Indies should not be allowed to play against the top-3.

That's correct, toss is very crucial for every touring team. If they win the toss then the match comes into balance and gives them an advantage most of the time, unless you are playing in India.

In my recent memory, India has lost 70-80% toss against every touring team but they still won the match and sometimes with an inning too.

LOL.. that happens when you have a national panauti as the test captain. Now Kohli has been replaced with Rohit Sharma, and hopefully the chances of India winning the toss should improve. Anyway, dealing with Indian spinners on sub-continental tracks is extremely difficult and this is the reason why the SENA nations continue to lose matches despite winning the toss. But then, it needs to be seen how the team would perform, once the senior players such as Kohli, Rohit, Shami and Karthik retires from international cricket in the next 3-4 years.

West Indies won't have much trouble avoiding the follow-on. West Indies scored 150 runs in 51 overs and lost only one batsman. However, Bonner is now sidelined with an injury. Even so, the batting of the Indies is quite good. Today is the third day of play. When a Test match is played on such a pitch, the match is usually a draw. This match is also most likely to be a draw if West Indies face a batting disaster.

Well.. let's see. A this point, they need another 248 runs to avoid follow on. Tagenarine is out and Nkrumah is retired hurt. Will they be able to make enough runs to avoid follow on? I agree that there is nothing in this pitch for the bowlers. Previously test matches in Perth used to be hosted out of the WACA stadium. But now they have moved the matches to the Perth Stadium, where the track is a lot more friendly towards the batsmen. But then, the West Indian batsmen also need to convert their 50s to 100s.

There would be only two outcome of the test match being played between Pakistan and England either it will end in a draw or England will win it. At the moment it seems the chance of winning is pretty much high. I think the English team management wants to go on till the end of first session and then they will declare the innings.
