It is very interesting to see how Bangladesh has not improved in the one format which is the oldest in cricket. And Bangladesh once did better in test cricket at least in Bangladesh because players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah were in their prime.

At that time, even though Bangladesh was not winning the test series back-to-back, they were at least bringing in respectable results. However, this generation of Bangladesh cricketers is not in their prime anymore. The new players are just not setting themselves up to their standards or even close to it.

I think we can see that from the relatively new players that played in this match. Nazmul Hossain Shanto was again a failure. I really do not understand how he is still on the team. And Yasir Ali is another failure, who fails to contribute to the team in any format. At the end of day two, Bangladesh was 133/8 and they are still 271 runs behind. From this point on India should be able to win the Test match easily.

After winning the first two ODIs, Bangladesh lost the track and lost the last ODI with a huge margin. This test is almost over for Bangladesh unless India do some big blunder in the game. On stumps day 2, Bangladesh still trail by 271 runs and only 2 wikcets left. There is no one in Bangladeshi batting lineup that took responsibility. Bangladesh lost 8 wickets for just 133 runs.
Bangladesh need to be consistent in there performance otherwise they will continue losing games like that.

Today in thier first test match Bangladesh was extremely poor in batting none of the players made any runs and they lost 8 wickets on 133 runs , 271 runs trail which is obviously not possible for them to compete as their batting is a disaster. 
Why cricket teams are performing like this in the oldest format of cricket? Is this the increasing popularity of t20 format or thier lack of understanding related to test cricket.

Obviously yes, Today no team focuses to become best in test except the ones that are already good, Especially in Test, I see only England, Australia, South Africa, India & New Zealand, only the top 5 which have actually played well in Test have actually shown a competition. Even Pakistan isn't in the list, except South Africa in Pakistan they haven't won a series against these top 5 in a lot many years now. I feel all this is just because of less viewership and interest amongst countries for test. Obviously for smaller boards like SL/ Bangladesh money is the most important thing and which T20 can give you the most so it's obvious that their teams also focus on that only.

Well.. it is possible. Ravichandran Ashwin is next to come and he do have a very good batting record in subcontinental tracks. But the problem for India is that after Ashwin it is down to the tail. The three other players to come doesn't have any batting capabilities (Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj). So I don't know how much India will be able to add to their existing score of 278/6. They may get bundled out for less than 300, or they may make a total of more than 400. Either way, Bangladesh will be on backfoot.

I was expecting Shreyas Iyer to stay much longer in the crease but either way Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav was able to take that role and build a great partnership that would eventually take the total over to 404 and with Bangladesh struggling at 133 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and with plenty of time left in the match this is a match where India could not loose with the situation they are in, may be Bangladesh fell for their own trap by making a spinning track.

BANGLADESH ARE ALL OUT JUST AT 150!
India decided to bat again despite having a large lead. I cannot understand why captains these days do not take follow-ons. Defeating Bangladesh in an embarrassing manner was an excellent opportunity. There is no way Bangladesh can win on a turning pitch. India must win this game. However, you never know. It is due to their condition.

Well... let's see how he performs in the second test. As of now, it looks as if India will win this test match by at least 200-300 runs. Instead of asking Bangladesh to follow on, they decided to bat again. But surprisingly Shubman Gill and KL Rahul have started quite slowly. The lead is now 290. India might declare once they get to 400-450. And given the spin-friendly conditions at Chattogram, I don't think that Bangladesh will be able to chase this huge target. Virat Kohli will come in at no.4, and that is if he gets a chance to bat.

Kohli is suited for test cricket and if he gets an opportunity to bat without any pressure then he will go on till he gets a century. At the moment India is in a very comfortable position and if he gets an opportunity to bat today you might see him playing his original game. One thing I am sure and many here would agree that he is not suitable for T20 format. There are other and better batters who can easily replace him in this format.

So far it looks like India is playing this game on easy mode, expect 30 mins of 1st inning when they were 3 down for 40-ish something.

Bangbros as a team not trouble them at all and atm the Indian batters are taking this as batting practice, well plenty of time in this test so they have a luxury atm.

FYI this is the same ground where the Windies chased down a mammoth 390-ish target in the 4th inning.

Bangladesh batting was a disaster in 1st innings all out on  150 runs not a single batsman made any runs . Now India is batting again  and are on 231 runs 2 wickets gone.
Ayways this 1st test match is very much on Indian side as they performed good somehow atleast better than Bangladesh.

Yeah, there is no way Bangladesh is going to be able to win this test match. I think Bangladesh should have planned like this. They should have tried to control the flow of runs. Bangladesh should have kept the run rate of India very low. So that by the time India could have got a significant score on the board, it would have already been the last session of the fourth day. And Bangladesh could have had a chance to draw the Test match.

But now there is no chance of that happening. India leads by more than 500 runs right now. The chances of Bangladesh being able to score that many points are slim to none. The only chance for Bangladesh is to not get out and somehow try to draw the test match. And honestly, a draw is even out of reach for Bangladesh.

Now it's only fair that Bangladeshi batters pull their shocks up and return the favor to Indian bowlers by batting a minimum of 90 overs.

Gill is an exciting prospect, although his batting technique is more suited for SENA countries but really happy he finally got his maiden test ton in the subcontinent. Poor guy missed one in Aus, hope his desi dad won't complain about the missed opportunity of Gabba anymore lol.

They did impress many people primarily thanks to Miraz in the ODI matches. On the other hand, they are playing like crap in the ongoing test series while India is decimating them in order to stay in the hunt for the second spot in the WTC table.

Also, I'm glad to see proper results instead of rain screwing both teams which was such a major annoyance in recent times.

There are many such histories have in their cricket. Moreover, with the current batting capacity of Bangladesh, it is a very difficult task for them to collect the 471 runs. But if the performance is like the first two matches of the previous ODI series, it is a different matter. But naturally they will not be able to maintain the winning streak in this match. Even though, a partnership of 42 runs was built without losing any wicket.
