SP30 with the 'boot SD' has crapped out again!! (restarting every 3 minutes with zero mining) (last SP20 is 'fine')

multiple 'SD recoveries' failed to help

multiple 'SD boot' attempts fail to help

(SP20E offline 10 days)
I have similar issue...

Try sd boot first, but patiently wait for at least 10 minutes to see if miner boot.
If not, try to put sd card on working sp20, then wait (must be self reboot and start booting)
If not shut them down for at least 5 min and then with inserted SD Recovery wait again at least 10 minutes to get xmas light mode, then wait not 2min as is said in instruction, but wait 10/15 minutes, remove sd and power down.

I found all this when i try to recover 2 sp20e after power faliure, first one was fixed with sd recovery, but second one work only with sd boot(seems like his own memory is dead)

Good luck!

Thanks loudnes, but still no joy on the SP30.

2nd day of failed recoveries and i think its not coming back.

SP-T mentioned the MMC board possibly needing replacing.

If they havent yet sent my ribbons & connector headers, perhaps they can send an SP30 board at the same time.

4.06PM

Dear 'Edgar',

Today we are shipping to you some spare parts with DHL.

Please see attached shipping documents

Best Regards,

Katya Penkar

Invoice shows 4 x 6 pin connector headers only.

No mention of ribbons nor SP30 MMC board...
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

If you have hosting at Minersource and want to get out of there, you're also welcome to contact us. We've gotten a few SP3Xs from Minersource over the last few months, including a few after their website went down. I don't know if shipments will continue, but I hope so. I've been thinking about making a trip down to Denver to visit a friend, so there's a chance I might be able to pick some miners up from Minersource as well.

Update from one of our customers: While they were able to get some of their miners shipped from Minersource to us a few weeks ago, their subsequent attempts to get their last 4 SP30s out of Minersource have not been successful yet, after one week of attempted contact.

*Ominous music plays in the background*

I used to do a fair amount of business with minersource, have had exactly one email conversation with Carson in the last month, over the course of about two hours on the 12th. No responses to any inquiries since then. Not terribly encouraging as they'd previously been talking about sending a lot of work our way, and we were already preparing for the jobs before they went dark. Just throwing that out there.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

Hello to all.
I need help to recover a SP20.
problem happens when i downgrade from 2.6.14 to 2.5.12 with firmware list from web management.   After the downgrade machine shows it is a SP10, having web access, but not mining. I did a factory reset and have not more access to the unit.
So I tried a recovery with SDcard. I got xmas lights , but problem remain. 4 times or more.
I can get web and ssh acces to the machine with SDboot, but want to recover internal memory.
It looks that something internally is saying the machine is a SP10 , but doesnt know how to change it.
here is something similar:
http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/blogs/technical-blog/16218032-recover-sp10-that-has-image-2-x-x

but i am not sure if this is the same that my situation and what the instructions to fix it have to be implemented.

I write to support, but I get tired after one week waiting for a solution from them. Not much happy with support.

thanks

Did the same thing when I first got one of my SP20 units.  It takes a while after you get the xmas lights.  Just let it go about 5 minutes.  After that, immediately flash with new firmware.  Be sure to use the recovery and not boot SD. Worst case scenario, SP-T will remote with you to get it going again.

Got the SP31s today. I am running them on basic voltage settings of slow fans, medium rates. I would like to set them up so that I am hashing at about 3000 gh.  Can someone kindly walk me though the menu settings? I am thinking that I'll have to adjust via advanced voltage settings.  I've made some minor changes but see no hash rate changes. Thanks very much.

There is an unofficial thread for the SP20s.  At this time, I am looking at underclocking my SP30;
Currently pulling 3KW and 4.5T

Does anyone of the top of their heads have the best settings for a SP30 for the best hash/watt/fan rate?

Set the initial voltages and max voltage to something around 0.620. Set the fan speed to something around 40 or to Auto. Higher voltage will mean higher hashrate, higher power consumption, and lower efficiency.

Usually, if you use Auto fans, you want to set the initial voltage to something lower than the max voltage, because otherwise some of the ASICs might start to overheat before the proper fan speed gets learned properly. However, at voltages near or below 0.620 V, some ASICs will start to fail, and if you start them at a lower voltage they will be more likely to fail than if you start them at the final voltage.

Last year, they said they would not be doing preorders for their 3rd generation of hardware (Pickaxe ASIC). They'll announce availability when it's available.

Hi everyone,

Has someone played with the serial port on the Spondoolies machine? I'm trying to connect to my SP20 using a serial cable and would like the pinout diagram of the RJ12 plug...

Thank you!

20 mins ago, we received a very important intelligence and we decide to increase the price of S5 by 20%. A certain competitor which we pay attention has not submit any mass production order to its wafer supplier. Only a small batch of pilot run has been submitted before the Chinese New Year. It has confirmed a long but uncertain guess that the aggressiveness get in trouble. The best time for mining bitcoin comes right now.

It was at $320 this AM and then up it went. A lot of people are pissed but whether it represents the majority or is a vocal minority remains to be seen. I bailed on a purchase of a couple of units because of it.

Asicminer? Dead / Soon to be Dead?
Bitfury? Very Large B2B only.
Spondoolies? Shipping.
Bitmain? Shipping.

Just a few in the B2B end of things.

S5's are the last models available now for purchase
SP31 are the last models available in stock from Spondoolies $2,075.00: http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp31-yukon-shipping-from-stock

So what do you expect is going to happen price wise?
Prices go down?
Do you remember when there were no units to be had?

Remember how fun it is to silently smile and nod condescendingly at a captive consumer base while adding $100 of pure profit margin to every unit sold just because you can? I guess Bitmain was having fun with the supply/demand curves and figured what the hey, why not.

I'm gonna side with Dogie's opinion that it might be BitFury. There's been pretty much zero publicity about their new chips, which I'd think they'd be rolling in it if they were actually impressed with the design. Spondoolies I doubt has a batchable ASIC yet (though I could be wrong) and though I've been drooling over BE300 since December, with everything that's gone wrong for ASICMiner lately, I figure either they put in an order months ago or not at all so the timing doesn't really make sense.
