It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Running the chips cooler on my SP20's (from auto fan and chips in the 80's-90's to setting fan to 100 and bringing chip temperature down to 70's) resulted in about 3% lower power consumption for the same hash rate. Cooler is gooder my friends.

One has to wonder how long fans can operate at 100%. I just don't know.

One has to wonder how long fans can operate at 100%. I just don't know. Years or decades for quality ones. I have old test and industrial equipment from before I was born at work that have standard two wire fans that are running fine covered in dust.

One has to wonder how long fans can operate at 100%. I just don't know. At least as long as FPGAs operating at a steady 100 degrees C. Or capacitors, PSU's, etc. If the fan is the weak link in reliability, there was a problem to begin with. I.E. Asicminer's tube...

I didn't have a single fan problem on any of the 31 Tubes in my hosting (13 of which are still running). I had two VRMs fail when the exhaust fans weren't working right during a 100F heat wave but that's not bad, 2 out of 992.

Also, another thing that might be useful would be to have front/back temperature graphs and/or alarms. I searched in the .php file that takes the stats: miner# cat /var/www/SP3x/index_stats.php <div class="row"> <div class="col-lg-4"> <dl class="dl-horizontal"> <dt>Temp Front / Back T,B </dt> <dd><?php echo $mpTemp[1]; ?> <small>°C</small> / <?php echo $mpTemp[2]; ?>,<?php echo $mpTemp[3]; ?> <small>°C</small></dd>
<dt>Socket Voltage</dt> <dd><?php echo $voltage." volt"; if (($voltage < 130) && $overvolt110) echo " ! 110V limitation override ! "; ?></dd> <dt>Fan Speed</dt> <dd><?php echo $workmode['FAN']['value']?></dd> <dt>Start Voltage</dt> <dd title="top/bottom"><?php echo $workmode['VST']['value']/1000?> / <?php echo $workmode['VSB']['value']/1000?></dd> <dt>Max Voltage</dt> <dd><?php echo $workmode['VMAX']['value']/1000?></dd> <dt>Max Watts</dt> <dd title="top/bottom"><?php echo $workmode['AC_TOP']['value']?> / <?php echo $workmode['AC_BOT']['value']?></dd> </dl> </div> <div class="col-lg-4"> <dl class="dl-horizontal"> <dt>Best Share</dt> <dd><?php echo $summary['SUMMARY'][0]['BestShare']; ?></dd> <dt>Miner time</dt> <dd><?php echo date('D, d M Y H:i') ?></dd> <dt>System Uptime</dt> <dd><?php echo secondsToWords(round($uptime[0])); ?></dd> <dt>CGMiner Uptime</dt> <dd><?php echo secondsToWords($summary['SUMMARY'][0]['Elapsed']); ?></dd> <dt>HTTP access limit</dt> <dd><?php echo $limited_access; ?></dd> </dl> </div> <div class="col-lg-4"> <dl class="dl-horizontal">
<dt>Hostname</dt> <dd><?php echo exec("hostname", $name); ?></dd> <dt>MAC address</dt> <dd><?php echo exec("/usr/local/bin/getmac.sh", $name); ?></dd> <dt>Hardware Version</dt> <dd><?php echo $full_model_name; ?></dd> <dt>FW Version</dt> <dd><?php echo(file_get_contents("/fw_ver")) ?> <?php if (! is_link('/usr/local/bin/miner_gate_arm')) { echo "<b></br>CUSTOM miner_gate_arm! So somehow we have to extract the information off these $mpTemp[] variables.. Anyone got an idea how to do it? (-> Spondoolies-tech: please implement it in a future patch..)

We sold out all of our 2nd gen miners. sigh.......still want one in my basement....could put a comercial unit in when you have them.........the neighbors will not mind the next generation jet engine sounds of the fans right? i doubt my argument that it would become soothing would work. (this is aside from the usual impracticalness of it all with price/power etc etc)

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

Congratulations! I hope we will see a price increase in the second hand market! I second that, but it is not happening so far . I found it amazing that nobody had created anything like the SP3X series in almost a year. Great job from SPT. Cheers

We sold out all of our 2nd gen miners. Huge congratulations, Spondoolies. You're by far the best hardware manufacturer, and as someone who just picked up his first piece of Spondoolies kit yesterday I sincerely hope to be able to purchase more from you in the near future. Incredible quality hardware, puts everything else in my "farm" to shame.
