In the last 16, Chelsea managed to beat Benfica with a fairly convincing score of 1-4. I see this match did look quite difficult for Chelsea, because in this match Chelsea really had difficulty penetrating Benfica's defense even though they were basically able to dominate the match well. Because in the first half and in the second half Chelsea could only score 1 goal which basically could have been a winning goal for Chelsea. But unfortunately when the second half was about to end, Chelsea players committed a violation which eventually led to a penalty kick and finally the score became a draw. Because Di Maria as the penalty taker was able to do it well.

So with that, the match continued with extra time and that's where Chelsea really rose. Because in the extra time, Chelsea was able to score 3 additional goals which became the absolute winner for Chelsea. So with the victory Chelsea managed to qualify for the last 8 and will face Palmeiras. I think Palmeiras will not be too difficult an opponent for Chelsea, what do you all think?

In the round of 16, Chelsea beat SL Benfica by 4 - 1. Yes Chelsea had the 64% of the possession and they dominated the match. There were quite a lot of fouls by both teams, even Chelsea had 16 overall fouls and three yellow cards. SL Benfica got six yellow cards and that's understandable as they were pushing for goals but couldn't find.

Chelsea really had to play that long to figure out how to defeat against benfica. Well, I'm not surprised since they have a good history in the champions league, they're no small team!

I think the red card ripped the team apart -- additionally, for the fact that it was during an extra time, pushing them beyond their limits and making them concieve unnecessary goals in about 20 minutes from the final whistle. I could relate the joy on di Maria's face when he scored the penalty, and the disappointment in the final period. Regardless, Chelsea played a good game and the result was quite promising.

You know what happens when a team's ego is bruised? Exactly, only difference is the timing. it'd make much more sense if the red card came in the early kickoffs and they lost due to that, not about few minutes to stoppage time.. I feel like they could have at least, held on tight to the end at once!

When I looked at the grid, I only see European teams in the quarterfinals. Inter - City, PSG - Bayern, Real - Dortmund. Do you think this is possible? I like how Inter Miami plays, but I doubt very much that they will be able to beat PSG, these guys are very strong now and are in great shape. I also doubt that Al Hilal will be able to beat City. I understand that everything can depend on the teams' attitude and their lineups, but I don't expect any surprises at the playoff stage.
