http://cryptolife.net/breakdown-anonymizing-cryptocurrencies/

This article was written awhile back this year. I am curious how "icanprogram" is coming along with Invisibles anonymous mixing service. Anyone have any insight?

Tipping crypto via TIPS is an obvious solid match. There simply has to be incentive for coders to come on board and design through code the type of ideas that have been put forth here and on reddit, etc. Either btc or a large stake in TIPS coins. This coin has been viable and pretty much without issue for the most part and you know ALOT of people probably hold this coin with a float of its size. Either that, or we need a dev like Tranz, etc to contribute to advancing the code like he has with taking over Bottlecaps and offering very large POW staking rewards for investors, etc. He is the dev of HoboNickels. I think "icanprogram" can use some dev help and a discussion of what we can bring new and unique to the TIPS code, incentive holders of the coins, inspire miners to increase additional interest in mining again, and maybe throw a bone to interested/prospective investors with a solid feature. Forking the coin with new algo or going POS, etc etc....doesn't bother me if we see it as advantage for the continued/increased viability of the coin. There's nothing actually currently wrong with the foundation of the coin, it just has M-A-N-Y  new altcoin competitors since its launch that have come along and have devs moving it forward and keeping it relevant. Say what you will about Invisibel the dev here, but he was serving up ideas and had the idea and code for the anonymous feature before Darkcoin even announced it. Invisibel could have helped investors earn quite a bit of $. That's ancient history and we need to obviously make changes.

The dev Zackclark90 is changing the stake coding for ADT android tokens and I believe it will be possibly a minimum of 10% (may be slightly lower..may be significantly higher) as the coin holders demand this change. I believe there are a few other coins changing things to offer very very large staking %. Tekcoin is 40% every 30+ days. Irrespective of whether that is a good idea for current bagholders and prospective new investors searching for new coins to consider would be a good discussion. I am merely pointing out that there are coins out there similar to TIPS that are making/considering smaller to larger changes to algo, etc without even getting into adding features...and their communities seem to welcome the changes.

All the talk 3 months + here about not changing the amount of total coin float, etc should be a thing of the past and a more open minded approach to improving/updating TIPS I PERSONALLY believe should be embraced. Food for thought and important consideration in my opinion. I think icanprogram should give us his thoughts.  Sure the facebook multitipping app will help TIPS garner increased visibility, but that is in no way remotely good enough. We should not overlook current holders of TIPS and proceed from there.

I haven't commented on this hoping one of the devs would respond to it, though I found it very useful and agree 100%. I would add, I tried the mixing service two days ago but I got a message I think it was no mixing nodes are online or something like that. I think the 2% is a little high, maybe reducing it significantly would encourage people to use it routinely and keep it checked all the time, thus the mixing services would actually make more profit because of the higher participation, it would also give us the edge against other anonymizing coins to come. we really GOTTA GOTTA GOTTA use this feature to make FedoraCoin more known but it must become useable first.

No 'mixing' if everyone's coins are just sitting in their wallets ..
Indicates to me that no one is actually 'using' this coin ..
The 'mixing' feature works .. Just need volume in transactions ..

We tried about six months ago and got shot down ..
The price briefly shot up about 10X ..
But the effort died as the current devs weren't willing to give up the 'keys to the kingdom' ..
This coin's ticker "TiPS" is worth more than the entire market cap in the right hands ..
Won't ever happen unless/until TPTB give up and leave ..
Don't waste your time ..

Outstanding, thank you! Hopefully, people have some items to post over there to mature that partnership a bit.

FedoraCoin has established partnership with Bitscoinshop (http://www.bitscoinshop.com.br/en/) where you can buy items by using FedoraCoin, and enjoy 5% discount. As FedoraCoin is not yet integrated with the payment platform, you will need to use the following procedure during checkout:

1. Customers wishing to purchase using FedoraCoin should choose the product, along with signing up with the details and place of delivery;

2. Choose the bank transfer as the payment method, meanwhile leave a message to indicate that you want to pay with FedoraCoin;

3. In the message, specify the dollar amount of your purchase (with 5% discount) and the quote of the current exchanging rate. Bitscoinshop will convert the amount of your purchase into FedoraCoin, and send wallet address for payment.

4. Once confirmed the payment, items will be delivered.

Buy various mining products, Asics, Gridseed, shoes and dressing. All with 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects!
We have several offers and products please visit our store.

Darkvenu has been apart of the TIPS team and sometimes post over in the Italian section:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=572154.msg7488482#msg7488482

hercules1600
Is a part of the TIPS team and spends almost all of his time recently posting over at reddit.com and has created the World of TIPS website:
http://worldof.tips/

Fagusson as a part of team TIPS and has been very committed over time without waver. You see him comment here all the time and was apart of the gridseed giveaways along with another team member on reddit that doesnt post here. I think his moniker is "tips4hat" (?). He deserves further recognition for running those gridseed miner equipment giveaways!!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=391192.msg7605393#msg7605393

Which leads me to:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=391192.0
This is the TIPS previous thread as many know. A bit of a problem as you can quickly view that btctalk members continue to post over there and needless to say it continues to rank well in the search engines which bleeds off traffic to THIS current thread.

Another member mentioned Invisibel "holding the keys" when the community wanted to take a bit more control of TIPS. That may have included ACCESS to the first page of the old thread coin launch(?)

Compounding things is that when Invisibel first announced/launched the anonymous coin mixing feature he created a separate thread to do that and that also confuses things a bit (not a biggie):
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=471660.0

Who has the keys to the TIPS website?
http://fedoraco.in/

withfedoraco.in is a TIPS member invested quite a bit of time in his TIPS (only! well, I think btc/ltc also) payment app:
https://pay.withfedoraco.in/
Yes, yet another orphaned TIPS announcement thread to divert traffic and prospective investors further:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=395995.0

However withfedoraco.in has not be active on this forum for a few months. I know people use this with some degree of success awhile back, can anyone comment on using it? I corresponded with the dev on this TIPS payment platform if he was going to build this out for other coins or sync with them and he said he was simply focusing exclusively on TIPS when building it.

Giong back to the TIPS community takeover referenced by Triffin, the member "theking7426" headed that up for those desiring a history lesson. Although he created a formal new ANN thread, he was pushing for this and leading the charge before the following thread was created by him/her:

 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=415633.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=428987.msg4801959#msg4801959
(yup, more TIPS ANN thread)

"theking7426" took over the community as the lead manager after we all realized Invisibel had left (due to his identity being threatened to be revealed which he didn't want)
https://pay.reddit.com/r/FedoraCoin/comments/1w677v/sync_issues_extreme_growth_loss_of_anonymity_and/

At any rate, theking7426 was a very motivating community spark plug that hit the ground running on day one and without coffee. Question is, why did he leave when Invisibel came back(?) Again, ancient history but I would try to contact him as we was very helpful like Fargusson here has been. Send him a pm please, never hurts.

Spilled milk? Yes

Sour grapes? Yes and no.

I believe TIPS had "it" late last year and early this year with the withfedoraco.in payment system on the business side of things, new anonymous mixer coming out of beta (earliest coin I believe / b4 Darkcoin), and a dev with ideas and leadership skills (while he was here) and a solid community base, etc. With momentum like that so early at that time, it's a wonder we are where we are. And yep, I also even like the large billionS coin float TIPS has. Makes being generous alot more fun.

Which leads me up to why some left the TIPS community. I believe it was the insistence of algo change and coin float reduction as well as other smaller changes to the coin algorithm that some wanted to stay competitive. If you all recall, there have been some folk that wanted ZERO changes to the coin as they voiced it would be unfair to make changes to a coins parameters that investors thought were fundamentally sound and unchaneable and they thought sound enough to invest in. While others wanted major changes that included stopping any further POW mining and maintaining the absolute float ceiling where we were at that time (can't remember..something like 90 billion). Or possibly moving to Proof-of-stake and other algo changes that requires had forks, etc etc and the implications of that. All that arguing broke this growing community up a bit.

The lead dev now is "icanprogram" on TIPS. It seems because the multiple reddit.com threads are significantly more active there than here, he seems to spend 99% of his time there. Fargasson has kinda been in charge of btctalk, but personally I do not suggest lead devs walk away from posting and updating btctalk website. I believe it is their RESPONSIBILITY to keep investors in the coding loop. He has said he is reverse engineering Invisibel's anonymous mixing code so as to more easily make adjustments I would assume. However has not updated us at all in that endeavour (frustrating).

I hope to hear from icanprogram here very soon or would like to place another option on the table to consider.

Just an aside. If you wanted to look through the chain for any reason:
http://fedoracha.in/chain/FedoraCoin

The Facebook MultiCoin Tipping App WILL bring new investors into TIPS, but not at all the ADOPTION we envisioned for this crypto.
That said, let's go with id10tothe9 (member in this thread) and send him some TIPS so that he can continue tipping people on his cool Facebook page.
id10tothe9 please link us there again as well as give us a concise synopsis how people earn TIPS there and how many TIPS you think you have sent out to date approximately? Do you get alot of questions how to download the TIPS wallet from Facebookers?

fedora had nice features, but developers were totally unorganized, and with few resources. reddcoin was better managed. they have funds and are keeping it alive around 1M market cap. come on... this puppy has 100k market cap, can't believe the devs don't have the equivalent to buy almost all of it at these prices and start squeezing it to attract interest (that's what always happens when coins rally, it's the devs stupid!). no rally.. no interest.

I agree with Triff on this point. I think the nodes are working, but there are only a few people trying to use them, making the mixing impossible as it requires several anonymous payment made slightly at the same time.

I think that's why you got this error message, which doesn't mean that the mixer isn't properly working (it worked back in March).

Sorry to spam you guys tonight, but I was away for quite a long time... Well, much more a couple of days, but you guys are so chatty Wink

I will try to answer to some of the question mouseman asked.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=391192.0

Effectively, invisibel went out forgetting to give us the passwaord of his bitcointalk account (which might be understandable as he used it for other purposes than TiPS). We are though unable to delete the old post, which pops up regularly on Google. This is a pity, but we are powerless here. I try to go there once in a while and post something if some people got lost. That way there is always some fresh advertizing for the new thread on the old one if needed.

icanprogram has total access to http://fedoraco.in

Which leads me up to why some left the TIPS community. I believe it was the insistence of algo change and coin float reduction as well as other smaller changes to the coin algorithm that some wanted to stay competitive. You're right, and the opinion of the dev team was to leave the coin alone. All the concept of TiPS is: high-volume, high-volume and high-volume (besides of other cool features). Because we wanted Fedoracoin (and not a 1/100000° of it) to be used as a tipping unit, and to have some space to grow for further use. Regarding the algo matter, we thought that ASIC's were a chance, not a danger. Mining power is mining power, and the important isn't the gun but the people holding it (thus being said regardless of all politic opinion on gun control). That's why we decided to stay the way we are now.

icanprogram made some apparitions here from time to time. My current position, if we can call it that way, in the TiPS team is community manager. I deal with BitcoinTalk, Reddit but also with Fedoracoin's Twitter and Google+ accounts. I'm supposed to be here as a link between the devs and the community (but also between all the sides of the community) for daily matters. You sure can ask question to me , I'll try to answer and ask the devs. Or the devs will come here and answer themselves if they have time to do so.
Saying that I don't understand what coding work you're talking about?
Don't forget that we are all volunteer here, and trying to make this coin live is a great pleasure but also a time-eater. And we sometimes lack of time.

You're right, Multicoin tipping app on Facebook is great. Don't forget that we also have a Twitter tipping bot (@tipfedora) which is a great way to spread the word too. We can organize a giveaway here too using the official Fedoracoin account if you guys want to.
I offered 10000 TiPS to each new follower until we reached 500, but this was taking me too many time. By the way we have now more than 650 followers!!

hey Fargusson, great to see you back! spam us all you like  Grin
so what is going on on the devs side? what work is being done, any future plans etc?
as for the mixing service I was asking whether the fee can be reduced and probably this way users would be encouraged to use it more often or even keep it ticked all the time. More users will generate more profits to the nodes even with a lower fee. You think it's worth considering, maybe you can discuss it with the devs?

Mouseman your posts are so great and give me more enthusiasm and more hope in the future of this coin, that's what we need, let's bring this community back together and get it active not just waiting!

about the facebook group, here is the address: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1478427829039015/
it's called TiPS4tips, and the idea for the group is to be a place for exchanging ideas and tips and in return exchange TiPS as an appreciation. If somebody want to know more about something they can ask questions (ask for tips about a topic), and when people answer they can send them FedoraCoins in appreciation.
I'm not sure how much I have given out, I try to encourage people with prizes for best tips or questions of the week etc, activity is moderate but I think it's been increasing recently and we are always getting more members. I think also a little help from volunteers who can bring new ideas and prizes to encourage the people to use the group would be great, I can appoint new admins if somebody is interested in helping out.
uh and about the question, I don't really get a lot of questions about using the wallet etc. I think I got like only 2-3. I put the important links to the information in the description of the group but not sure a lot of people have read that, and not sure how to educate people more about it. (I don't have much time either to spend there..)

id10tothe9, thanks.
I was asking if you could give us a bit more info on the facebook tips for tips concept?
A concise synopsis of how many tips you have given away, are they from your personal coin stash, how many members this groups has, when was its inception and how much time approximately you spend on it each week? Have others donated to you to so that you can continue tipping? Are people new to the group asking you how to download and use a TIPS online wallet because they are new to the concept?

Also, are you the individual that ran the gridseed contestS? I noticed metaphyx showed up for that and then has ran off. lol

Speaking of which, every coin needs a video rookies can be directed to every day, all day any day that holds a neophyte's hand to confidently get them to download, install and USE a cryptocurrency wallet. Without it, we can't get past "go!". Sure sure, they are all over youtube. Go it. But every coin's wallet has its individual quirks that may throw off the uninitiated. This can be said for any coin.

Also, hercules1600 now posts more over at reddit, but I believe is pretty sick this last 2 weeks. But he used to post here ALOT and has been very helpful!! So, I am NOT referring to him with the following thoughts I've been kicking around in my head.

What is it with reddit.com. Is that like the cool place to be or something. I mean, pretty much 95% of digital currencies make their debut and garner a great deal of support and investment RIGHT HERE at bitcointalk.org. And threads on this website oftentimes outrank reddit.com, etc in the search engine results pages when prospective investors go to learn about any/specific crypto coins. And yet, some top level people want to move management over to reddit? Hmm.
What's that? We want to "diversify" our exposure? Facebook, twitter, etc. Got it. Diversification and new audience growth. Excellent. Not to mention each coin creating their own website ecosystem. Smart. BUT, we see it time and time again in coins that struggle. Want a secret sauce ingredient to create a slight to a bit less slight downturn in the interest of your coin? Just let your hair down and allow your bitcointalk.org to bite the dust and you'll get the ball rolling in the right direction.

If you sell a product or service, but all means let it be known you will accept TIPS. If you run a business of any type, please let it be known you will accept donations for extra hard work and commitment to your clients satisfaction. If it can't be for payment, cool. But maybe it can just be as a "Tip" as a little thank you out of appreciation for your client centered focus. Even if you were NEVER to receive a single tip coin in the life of your business, by informing your specially easy. clientele you accept TIPS, that is just smart marketing. If you have a website, it's especially easy to swing.
