Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Technically, you should be able to use any kind of storage that your system can access. I've heard several people plan to share space from a tiny computer like the Raspberry Pi through external USB-harddrives.

How can I get involved now if I have missed the buy in etc.?
The beta is divided into three groups, A, B and C, whereof the two first require you to have participated in the crowd sale, unfortunately. But you will still be able to participate in beta group C at an advantage to those who wait for the public launch. Only requirement for group C is for you to hold 10,000 SJCX, which you can start buying now if you want, in order to be ready for beta C launch. You can easily buy in small increments, if you want, e.g. through Poloniex or the decentralized Counterwallet exchange.

Awesome.  I think that there is no issue within the community regarding time frames. You guys are rocking it pretty effectively.

When I reply to questions, I merely intend to inform and provide as accurate info as possible so as to not step on toes or inadvertently mislead...that said, I am looking forward to reading the next one...

Conceptually, this is exciting. Similar to decentralized currencies, decentralized data storage is free from the threat of a central authority. Risks of censorship or information control will become a thing of the past. A working Storj solution would've been perfect for whistleblowers like Assange and Snowden. Authoritarian regimes like North Korea also will no longer have absolute control of data released to the world.

More than that, decentralized data storage is also attractive commercially. Individuals and companies no longer have to make massive investments in hardware. Instead, a pay-as-you-go model comes along.

However, I am wondering what the implications will be on copyright materials. As it is, numerous organizations have met the wrath of copyright holders. Can someone enlighten me on this aspect of the concept?

Noob question. In the Metadisk whitepaper, it is stated that copies of data will be stored in three separate locations in line with current industry redundancy standards. In the Storj whitepaper, it is stated data will be broken down into byte multiples such as 8 MB or 32 MB. It is also stated that a "farmer must be able to prove cryptographically that it has the shard, and has not modi fied it in any way." What are the chances of a malicious actor 'damaging' all three shards and destroying the data?

I also noticed that the Storj whitepaper is co-written by Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin. Personal contribution or is Ethereum involved with the project?

I expect to see Storj is going to impact on current centralized cloud storage likes drops just like how Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure affects traditional data center.

Yes I hope Storj Labs will be a big company.

Marketing is the most important thing, even more important than technology(after product releasing). And I hope Storj will reward in more ways(not only farming) to get more personal users and company customers.

Like download or referral rewards, for example, 0.01 SJCX reward for file share/download. If my file is downloaded by 100 times, I can get 100*0.01 = 1 SJCX reward. Therefore people will upload and share more files, with more demands, Storj will have more customers.

Well all greylists would be community run and you'd have to opt-in only to the ones you trusted (which would, ideally, be validated as correct by many community folks). If you don't trust them you don't have to use those lists (or any, for that matter). The blog post (and other posts on storjtalk.org) and our FAQ go into much more detail about questions that come up regarding this too.

Polo is the most active exchange but as of yesterday we have now been added to ALTS.TRADE. I don't really know them well and I believe they are pretty new on the scene. So always be careful and pay attention.

Below is the list of all current exchanges that support SJCX.

Counterwallet DEX: https://counterwallet.io/#
PoloniEx: https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_sjcx
Melotic: https://www.melotic.com/markets/sjcx-btc
MasterXchange: https://masterxchange.com/market.php?currency=xcpsjcx
ALTS.TRADE: https://alts.trade/trade/SJCX/BTC
