Storj hosts google hangouts periodically to answer user questions. However, there is also a voice-call facility built into slack. So if you sign up to the storj community slack at https://storj.io/community.html you can start a voice call to contact any of the other slack members by DM.

What the registration at  https://app.storj.io exactly(technically) does? Where it stores reg data (emails, passwords) ?

Registration gives you an account on the bridge which gives you access to lots of push button tools to use the network. You are not required to sign up to use the network, but it's 100x easier though the bridge.

The email and double hashed password (once on client, once on server) get stored in the bridge's database, so whoever is running the bridge server has that information.

So essentially, you have the option to choose a bridge you trust, run your own, or go without (in order of convenience vs privacy).

SJCX is the token that allows you to purchase storage or earn money for renting your free Hard Drive space on the Storj network. SJCX is a Counterparty asset that uses the Bitcoin blockchain for its transactions, and has been in existence since the onset of the project 2 years now. SJCX can be traded on the poloniex and bittrex exchanges, on shapeshift and on my own swapbot here:

I just did the update that it asked for. I recieved a bunch of errors once I tried to reinstall that I had to keep ignoring. Is that common with the update?

For Test Group C (TGC), there is no longer a requirement to hold any SJCX in your payout address in order to receive rewards. However, in order to ensure that your nodes will be getting full rewards, you should hold at least 1000 SJCX in your payout address. If you hold none or less than 1000 SJCX, you will still receive rewards, but most likely will not be first in line to win contracts when supply of storage space from farmers on the network exceeds demand from renters.

This has nothing to do with masternodes. SJCX is not a mineable or staking coin. It is a counterparty asset. Farmers will earn rewards in form of SJCX during TGC, but these rewards are distributed from a token reserve that has been set aside for this purpose. No new coins are being created.

If you review the section on contracts and audits in the above mentioned blog, you will see the mechanisms that assure that renters pay the farmers for the contracts they have both agreed upon whenever the farmer passes an audit. Payments will be made using Storj´s own micropayment channels technology which allows for extremely small payments that are immediately verifiable and secure, with minimal fees.

If you don't have a static IP you can use a DDNS which will automatically update your IP.

It doesn't matter if your IP is static or not, but I haven't been paid since April..

you haven't been paid because no beta was running until just about 1 month ago when we started test group C. The first payout in this test group will be disbursed in the beginning of August to the participating farmers.
