My question is: is it possible to have a simple step by step guide explaining

1) if I have DMD on Cryptsy, how will it work the transition from old to new DMD for my coins? Do I need to do anything?

2) if I have DMD on old wallet, how will it work the transition from old to new DMD for my coins? What will I need to do?

I received these questions a few times, they are very common from users when hard forks happen, so I think a simple post with these two step-by-step instructions will make it all easier to understand

1.) just wait diamonds are diamonds its not required to do anything to exchange them

2.) dont do transactions now. create a backup of ur wallet.dat

once new wallet is released follow this guide to clear appdata and old blockchain (again make sure u have a copy of wallet.dat thats they key to your coins!)

a)   %APPDATA%\diamond\ (if you're using  Windows)
b)     ~/.diamond/ (if you're using Linux)
c)     ~/Library/Application Support/diamond/ (if you're using Mac).
d)- Delete everything beside the wallet.dat be there (again make sure u have a copy of wallet.dat thats they key to your coins!)
e)  start new wallet
expect a few hours to sync again with blockchain
new client have a upgraded database structure which will result in much faster starting time at launch but this change need that u download whole blockchain again to make it stored in new format
f) in case after sync finsihed and ur coins not visible stop client
copy the backup wallet.dat into the appdata folder and start wallet again

u can do this stuff wrong and lose time but
as long as u have a copy of ur wallet.dat u will never lose the coins
wallet.dat thats they key to your coins!

As devs already said, fork is happening just these hours, when finished they'll post an update here and on Twitter.

No mining (solo or pools) is possible in the meantime, so the only thing to do is waiting or trading DMD

and when at least 2 pools finished setup we give it free for everyone

dont fear other people mine away a shitload diamond
like always 1 dmd a minute for the miner ... not more not less

I like the features of DMD. I'm curious how you guys expect the value to respond once things start rolling. Also, when will an android wallet be released? Will this wallet app contain a mining ability?

I'm having a tough time finding a guide to mining with groestl, can you please post some infos?

There will be a new software needed to mine on Grøstl we'll provide it to you so now worries.
It's not sure if dmdpool.net will be Grøstl oriented form the start, however we're working with the others to bring a few of them form the start.
Those who are able for some reason to mine coins they are on the forked chain so no one is losing anything (apart from some who lose a bit of electricity) and no one is gaining.
Also we would be releasing a new wallet, with all the updates so yes, you should download a new version. The speed is very much improved and I see absolutely no reason why anyone would want to stick with the old one. The coins can be safely transferred between the wallets by the method described in detail by cryptonit.

The value is dictated by the people and I believe people would sensibly understand that we are doing everything we can to make it as smooth as possible.

Hello community,

I just wanted to give you an update on the progress. We have everything in place, now we’re rebuilding the database which can take hours as you can imagine, and very often experience yourself. Downloading the blockchain is the part that slows the whole process down and it’s something that no one can do anything about. It just needs to sync on its own.

What happens next?

Next we pass the code to:
 
1. Cryptsy – they need to resync and test it.

2. Mining pools - they need to resync as well and adapt the software.

3. Community – you need to resync it and continue to enjoy the New Diamond Coin.

As you can see there are time blocks on the way to full release. It’s not ideal and it’s definitely not the way we’ve planned it. But life is life and we are doing everything we can to deal with it to minimise discomfort caused.

Stay tuned. It’s coming …

im sorry we didnt realize before that until the wallet is useable by u a few times someone else must sync before

the extended test team

the pool
and then u can download wallet and sync

that all adds up and is way beyond our expectations

so even we didnt run into any troubles it still need much more time

i guess groestlcoin must have a hashrate spike if all diamond friends abuse em as training field for their mining rigs.....

and we as extended testers are not allowed to cheat
we have to sync all blocks the normal way....

for u we will try to prepare a cheat so if u want u can download a allready nearly synced blockchain file

It would be better idea to have several nodes already synced up, when you relaunch the coin.

I hope you sync off a local (old) wallet -- that would be much faster.

PS: By the way, someone should fix the text, download links etc at www.dmdcoin.net -- the information there is already invalid (as the old block chain is essentially dead).
