Hello all.  I am new to this forum and wanted to let everyone know that I have been solo mining for 3 days now with no issue.  I am running (2) rigs.  One (6) 750 ti's and one (3) 750 ti's both running Windows 8.1.  At first it was a little difficult to set up since I wasn't familiar with groestl algo but once I researched it was easy to set up.  I have been able to make 4-6 DMD's per day at this difficulty.  I know I will make more when the pools come online.  Interesting though was I had to shut off my Precision X oc software to get max hash out of my cards.  Fyi.  I am saving about 220watts of power mining groestl algo.

Lol, this is the best time for all solo miners! I got 8 coins the last 24h with 2x7950 - and 12 coins with 1x5970 and 1x7950. Check http://www.cryptocoinsinfo.com/, time for solo mining.

Stop crying, go solo or buy some. Stop bashing Diamondcoin or the devs.
Almost nobody has a a multi-gpu setup. And 2x7950 only for mining? That IS a mining rig.
Outcome 4 coins with 1 7950 soloing 24 hours, also being dependent on luck. (you could just as well find nothing for a week) Great.
And not being able to use the pc of course. So you need another pc for work.

This is not bashing at all, it's going beyond the level of some fanboys and being realistic. Especially for a coin that wants to be a commodity.

I am buying DMD after all because it's one of the coins with a more active dev team. Tons of coins die each day because they fail to deliver technically or devs just don't post and people lose faith.

That is not stopping me from looking critically at it tho. And if more people would do the same, we wouldn't have a trillion different clones, but a few highly developed ones.
Right now it's just 1. find coin 2. throw tons of gpus at it 3. sell 4. repeat . Perfect example "DOGE". Seriously wtf.

Since I don't have GPUs to waste or spare pcs I'm dependant on working pools that I can use my CPU with. This is the biggest group of people too.
If difficulty goes to the moon this is also going to be useless ofc.

Forgot to ask - If I buy more DMD on Cryptsy right now will I be able to transfer to my wallet?  I am not sure if they upgraded yet?

todays update from team progress:

we run a testpool with a few modifications in wallet code
we analyzing logs and adapting pool and wallet code
there is progress in behavior but no full success until yet
we will continoue tomorrow once our devs did sleep over it
once we get our pool runing we will share how we did it and the modified source/wallets

devs sleeping but their brain still working

That doesn't work yet.
I was stupid enough to try and wonder where my DMDs are now. They hopefully appear once everything is fixed.

So what seems to be the issue with the pool? I mean, the NOMP stratum works out of the box with grostl algorithms without issue. What seems to be the problem with the pool? From what im reading the wallet is not accepting blocks? Can someone shed some light on this?

besides lower variance, whats the fascination is with pool mining? you'd do better to solomine.

I have a silly question for anyone familiar with the mining aspect of DMD.

I show one of my blocks solved having been received from an new address. All the other blocks are from the same address. Why?

Can anyone answer this?

Okay, I've decided to solo mine. I was looking at my payouts from where I was mining Groestl, and with those payouts being at the bottom of the daily estimated range over a period of 48 to 72 hours (depending on the machine) on a pool accounting for around 25% of the network hashrate which should adequately smooth outliers and give an accurate long term average mine rate, I've decided that solo mining can't be worse, and with it now being stable, I think we should do our best to help get everyone up and running. Here's a quick, appetizer to hopefully get your mouths watering.

The abridged, super simplified, solo mining HOWTO Wink

Okay, this assumes you already have your rig built, OS and miner installed and configured. (I think that is a safe assumption for anyone who is waiting for a pool to come online.)

Solo mining, single rig

ONLY 3 THINGS TO DO:

  • set up your wallet config file
  • set up your wallet to run as a server
  • set up your miner batch file to point to the wallet

Wallet config file key items: everything, but there's only 10 lines

Cut and paste what's posted here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=580725.msg6507800#msg6507800 into your diamond.conf file inside the same directory/folder where your wallet is found

Above the “rpcport” line, add the following line: rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

Change the rpcuser and rpcpassword to something of your choosing

Save it as diamond.conf.

Create a shortcut of your Diamond wallet (diamond-qt.exe), right click, click properties append --server to the end of the TARGET line
(Example: "C:\Users\User\Wallets\Diamond Coin v2.0.1\diamond-qt.exe"--server)

Save it and run your Diamond Wallet as a server using that newly created shortcut.

Setup your bat/script startup file by SIMPLY CHANGING 3 THINGS: your -o -u and -p switches (everything else stays the same)

-o 127.0.0.1:17772
-u your chosen user name that you gave to rpcuser in your diamond.conf file
-p your chosen password that you gave to rpcpassword in your diamond.conf file

Save and run. You're now mining solo.

Multiple Rig Setups

All the same as above, except you need to:

In your diamond.conf file change 127.0.0.1 to your subnet, for example 192.168.0.* (that's the most common, you could go with 192.168.*.* when in doubt)

(Don't forget to create any necessary firewall exceptions on your wallet machine.)

Change the -o switch in your bat/script startup file to the IP of your wallet machine, followed by a colon, and the rpcport number used (for example 192.168.0.30:17772 )

And you're off and running mining.  Grin

This was meant to be deliberately simplified so as to remove some of the fear from this 'endeavor' and encourage newbies to get their feet wet. Hopefully you'll all find lots of other helping hands here to help fill in the gaps and correct any mistakes I've made and/or add to what I've left out.

It's easy as 1-2-3. Good luck, and good mining!

And as nerioseole reminded us, there's a wealth of info out there, starting with google https://www.google.com/#q=multiple+rig+solo+mining , but I doubt you'll need it.

only thing to add is that lot people just choose wrong mining software!
use software that works with groestlcoin it will work with diamond too

we have no plans of keep the pool running as soon as other working pools are up

at least not as official pool

what the guy which gave us a server for testing do with it once we finished is his own decision

transactions seem to still be stuck. "generate new address" also doesnt work.

I will point some hash this way.

It only updates when a block is found correct ? so you wont see how many workers are on there etc until then ?

It'll show pools overall hashrate.. but other than that not much info is displayed on default nomp frontend

EDIT: bout to head to bed I'll leave this thing up, if this thing doesnt register your hashrate at all or if it goes on for hours without finding any blocks please send me a pm and or post here, I'll read it in the morning.
Can keep an eye on blocks found/rejected @ http://173.175.115.172:15555/tbs
