well.

I for one have depended on input from the community. I do not follow all opinions or statements as fact. I measure it and then act accordingly. however, taco has said that we should update the blockchain. cont to mine with current binaries.

i was wondering if the reason I have not gotten any blocks in the last week is because I have been mining on a corrupted blockchain.

thanks.

The corruption involves substituting early blocks with fake ones (I believe blocks 1 to 1400, which was roughly the first 24 hours of mining). It shouldn't have affected any mining.

If it shouldn't affect mining than what has affected? I don't need to choose now (just trying to figure out what coin to mine) and as well as other guys here I have seen a huge changing recently. can't tell whether it is god or not. HR is high but diff is too high and there must be some explanations not only fortune why me and other guys were unlucky to find blocks recently???

The balances connected to those early blocks would be affected. The removal of checkpointing means the problem has been stopped and reversed. There are plenty of nodes with the clean blockchains and you'll sync from them instead of absorbing any fake blocks.

The blockchain got not affected, but some local blockchains. In our irc you find a neat calculator instead of calculating it yourself, how your chance is to get a block

I decided to tidy up bitmonero GitHub rep tonight, so now there is all valuable things from latest BCN commits & Win32. Faster hash from quazarcoin is also there. So BMR rep is the freshest one.

You may check it: https://github.com/bitmonero-project/bitmonero

Latest update of binaries are available at www.bitmonero.org now.
Win64
Win32
Ubuntu
MacOS

I'm working on another good feature now, so stay tuned.

Just to be clear, resyncing the blockchain now (i.e. after deleting the old one) will be sufficient? Have the fake blocks been removed and the old balances restored?

If you have the latest daemon from the official sources (first post on this thread), it will not accept any fake blocks.

Do not trust any other sources, whether posted on this thread or otherwise. We don't know who was behind the attack.

Looks like there is no official exchange neither for MRO neither for BCN

I have posted in BCN thread about comkort.com - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=512747.msg6619803#msg6619803

Exchanges supporting cryptonote-based coins is hard. They're used to supporting mostly bitcoin clones (with a few exceptions such as Nxt) that all have the same wallet API and indeed the same API code. These coins do not. They will likely add support eventually if the coins are popular enough, but it won't happen (and hasn't happened) overnight.

This is not the github or website used by Monero. This github is outdated even with these updates. Only trust binaries from the first post.

The faster hash is from NoodleDoodle and is already submitted to the moner-project github  (https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero) and included in the binaries here.
The other wiki has additional fixes like the boost 1.55 compilation error.

It would be all easier if you just work together with the other guys, whats the problem? Come to irc and talk like everyone else?
Here are alot of people who want to help but to make this happen you have to let them help and actually talk more.

So no official exchanges yet?

I got confirmation from one.
Takes till next week tho - i guess it works out.

Altcoin history shows that except in the case of premine (Tenebrix), the first implementation stays the largest by a wide margin. We're repeating that here by outpacing Bytecoin (thanks to its 80% mine prior to surfacing). No other CN coin has anywhere near the hashrate or trading volume. Go check diff in Fantom for example or the lack of activity in BCN trading. Tomorrow you can watch this Monero "relaunch" troll coin fail when it goes live.

The only CN coin out there doing something valuable is HoneyPenny, and they're open source too. If HP develops something useful, MRO can incorporate it as well. Open source gives confidence. No need for any further edge.

Are u sure there is lack activity in BCN trading ? Even there is no official exchange people actively buy and sell BCN!
Btw smooth is one of the active traders.

Impressive faggotry going on by these Bytecoin jerks. Awesome deal for them to dump 150 billion Bytecoins gradually here on this forum while FUDding this thread which is the one BTC Talk wants to go with.

They all out of nowhere support the name "BitMonero" ... all of them will have one thing in common https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=300833;sa=showPosts which is previous posting in one of the BCN threads or a merge mine BCN thread.

Time to fork guys. TFT is the poison here. Let him continue on his journey. BTC Talk will know who to support and can see through what is going on with these paid agents.

This coin sounds pretty cool.
Can someone explain ring signatures to me?

Is this coin bitmonero?
Can this coin be merge mined with fantomcoin? What hashrate do you get with the fantomcoin merge miner?

Bitmonero may be forked soon but until now it is the same.

Yes you can merge mine both fantomcoin & Monero BUT you have to use an other miner that is 6 times slower than the one to mine Monero alone.

It is not worth it, you'll lose too much hashrate and fantomcoin has no value.

your right. I am getting 4 times slowing mining and only mining 2 coins at once. It is not worth it.
