Mac Red,

Thank you for clarifying the issue of new members with few posts on BTT.

This makes it easier for me to convince people that have only heard of Bitcoin and nothing else, to join Kora.

Have you considered announcing the Kora start-up in the media, outside of these 'hallowed halls' of BTT?

I can see, however, that it could make it harder for you to verify identities, if you get a overwhelming response from newcomers to BTT.

I am being told by knowledgable people, that is difficult to verify identities online, even though it is of such paramount importance to get a wide distribution. Kudo's for trying to do this, anyway.

how to do i check if my stake confirmed? how many people are already registered?

I'd advice anyone who's genuinely worried to just PM me and ask. As for you, I see you just confirmed your email so you're good to go.

(edit)
~1000 non-sockpuppet submissions so far.

Its a great start and I hope we have 3000 registrations soon .

yeah, how many left? It would be nice to have at least one update per day at a specific hour on the main page.

I know this is gonna sound a bit too hasty , but maybe less people to join before start? Say 2000 ~ 2500. Then give chance before launch to let them buy in for a small price for example to become stock holder so that we DO reach the 3000 ??

Just an idea. Or just sit in and have patience. Im all game.

1.  Make a bitcointalk.org Identity by going to https://Bitcointalk.org

Can those who created the BTT account after 06/23 enter the registration and be valid?
I know what you are thinking. please don't abuse the system.

I have no intentions like that. Quite contrary. I noticed in what i quoted that there is a suggestion for new people to create a fresh new BTT account which is in collision with rule nr. 3. Your BTT account must have a reg date BEFORE today, 06/23.
That is why I ask.

I don't mind things either way. Old accounts or new account all the same to me as long as there is one real person behind each account. What I would mind is to have someone coming here few months from now and claiming he/she has dozens of account and telling everyone that the signup and whole inception of Kora was a scam et cetera. I've seen that happen already on other coins. It demoralizes the whole community.

The reason why I noticed the above conflict is because I don't want new, eager and honest people opening BTT accounts and getting through all procedure so that they can apply for Kora and all that just to be dismissed as sockpuppets because their BTT accounts were created several days after the official start.

I think it would be good to get new people here. But we need to make sure they are real and that is not easy. I would love to be able to tell my friends on different forums something like:
I know you were reading about BTC and stuff and now is your chance to get on a new boat that is being built. Go over to BTT and create account.

Thank you for putting that in such a clear way.
And thank you for pointing out the newbie issue.
I agree that it would be great for new people to enter on account of the Kora initiative.
So I tell the new recruits now as well: just pm Mac REd and tell them that you are here because of Pentamon (or Tompa) having recommended this to you.

Pentamon

I want to clear the air about the issue regarding post count/account age:
1. We are really not as strict about these variables as it may seem. As long as the system finds no red flags, the priority IMO should be to NOT block potential newcomers and supporters. We want to be reasonable here and I for one will not say "oh so your friend registered today to join us and everything looks good..but no he can't come".
2. Taking the initiative to recruit more people is great for EVERYONE involved. This is something I stand behind 100% and think is great.
3. Kora must be able to say his opinion as well. But I'm pretty sure he feels the same. Again, the reason we made these perhaps a little odd rules were not to limit real honest people from joining Kora, this is the last thing we want to do. The world doesn't revolve around BTT either.
4. We are not even checking at this stage what your post count or whatever is. We are currently just collecting data. So submit, let your friends submit and so forth and don't worry too much.

Hope that clears up my stance.  Cool

I am on the road at the moment, and away from home but I just wanted to check in and say I agree 100% with Mac Red. We want to encourage everyone to join Kora, and we will always use a common sense approach, plus a little manual checking to ensure all legitimate people are included. Our system and rules are not perfect, but by recent crypto standards I think we can be proud of our attempt to limit sockpuppets, while not disadvantaging legitimate people. I think we''ve struck a fair balance, and we'll always listen to any feedback too.

I do want to thank Mac Red again for all his great work on the registration system, and his active support to our registration applicants, first rate, and i am very grateful.

I am still in discussions with a potential lead dev who would take charge of our effort to clone Qora, or maybe take things in a new direction and create something new. Hopefully i will have something to report over the next couple of days.

I'm also planning to confirm my identity with anon136 later today or tomorrow using his identity escrow service. Even though Kora stakes are free, someone will have to keep ~38% in trust after the initial distribution on the NXT AE is finished, and so far I have not been able to find a trusted third party to do this. Having my identity known to anon136 does not prove I am honest, but I think it's better than being fully anonymous, and if I end up controlling the trust account I hope my identity escrow effort will give our community a little more confidence.

Kora  is decentralised, and I am just a catalyst, and if you think of something that might help our cause feel free to post about it here, and by all means jump in and take action. Right now our focus should be on promotion and getting as close to our goal of 3000 Kora  stakeholders. Further down the road there will be lots to do, and if getting involved sounds appealing you could start thinking of what you might like to do now. Being involved might be fun, and maybe the community would reward your efforts later with a power bounty. You might get to know a few like minded people and make a few friends.

Thanks to everyone who has registered so far, and to all those offering encouragement Smiley

We don't really have an answer to this question yet. What would you like to happen?

I think the goal shouldn't be to get the 3000 as quick as possible. A month is not very long for getting 3000 unique registrations

It is very -very strange IPO on my opinion... i think this is just SCAM and ''devs'' just gathering info (nxt wallet, e-mail and so on) just to futhering bad action(hacking ...)
Thia just my opinion, but ... think a little, guys!
Regards.
P.S.why not a least have stakeholder list???  no any info at all about anything...

Iota is a brand new and novel micro-transaction cryptotoken optimized for the Internet-of-Things (IoT). Unlike the complex and heavy blockchains of Bitcoin and the like, which were designed with other uses in mind, Iota is created to be as lightweight as possible, hence the name "Iota" with emphasis on the ‘IoT’ part.
