how far are we away from the fork

Arux is almost done with testing, there is one remaining item to test.

Following that there will be a new release with the hard fork height specified.

great so can i expect the new build tomorrow or day after. there would be no point in downloading the current wallet as il just need to update to new one. i can buy some coins then

I can't give a date until testing is complete. But it may happen within the next day or two.

awesome stuff eyes wide open to see how this ride goes

thank you for quick reply
The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

What do you think about banking on the blockchain, as is the case of DigitalNote?

Testing has concluded successfully on the updated pool code and updated stand-alone miners. The bounties are awarded.

MoneroMooo and myagui please provide payment addresses and also indicate how you want the payment split up for the nvidia GPU miner bounty (joint bid).

The next step will be a tagged release. My plan is to set the hard fork 20000 blocks above the current height when the release is tagged. That's about two weeks for everyone to upgrade.

great stuff nice everything going to plan. will download new wallet should poloniex upgrade to new wallet  even though it hasnt been relisted yet. best way to get word out for everyone to upgrade within two weeks is via a exchange. not sure if polo would add it just yet but could try bittrex

I'm pleased to announce Release Phoenix of AEON (0.9.0.0). This release brings the following changes since the last official version:

Hard fork at block height 592000 changing PoW to Cryptnight-Lite and block target to 4 minutes
Enforce checkpoints on stored blockchain file (from Monero)
Triangular distribution on mixin selection (from Monero)
Mixin rng fix (from Boolberry)

Release Phoenix

Nice job smooth, thank you.

Win 64 binaries for the AEON phoenix 0.9 release

I built those binaries myself and tested them briefly.

As always, use at your own risk.

Only OTC thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1068691.0

We will push the exchange listings after the hard fork. There have already been some discussions.

Shouldn't be a problem if a exchange wishes to list the coin now right, with the new code, an exchange on standby waiting to add it

The code is there so I can't prevent it, but I don't recommend it. There are always risks associated with a hard fork. If some exchange does want jump the gun a bit, I would at least suggest they freeze transactions for a while before during and after the hard fork. But again, what they do is up to them.

I'm sure it's not the 1st time a hard fork has been placed on a coin so it should be handled accordingly.

Leave it to them to decide the Oct thread pretty active so should do well on exchange

I'm fairly sure I used your binaries previously without issue, so I'll do the same again.

would be easier to have a exchange to add it to buy and store my coins. saves my ram from exploding. As long as its reputable one its all good

I am working on a promising pruning technique that will allow nodes with very low resources, although that won't be a short term solution for you.

@cryptrol : I tested your binaries on my Win8-x64 system, and got the following output from aeond:

2015-Jul-22 15:11:45.971044 aeon v0.9.0.0()
2015-Jul-22 15:11:45.972046 Module folder: aeond.exe
2015-Jul-22 15:11:45.974047 Initializing p2p server...
2015-Jul-22 15:11:45.976049 ERROR c:\users\u\documents\github\aeon\src\p2p\net_node.inl:108 Exception at [node_server::init_config], what=unsupported version
2015-Jul-22 15:11:45.980054 ERROR c:\users\u\documents\github\aeon\src\p2p\net_node.inl:229 Failed to init config.
2015-Jul-22 15:11:45.983056 ERROR C:\Users\u\Documents\GitHub\aeon\src\daemon\daemon.cpp:174 Failed to initialize p2p server.

2015-Jul-22 15:11:45.987060 Mining has been stopped, 0 finished

This sequence happens right after I execute aeond (not using any parameters), and then it quickly exits. I double-checked that no other version of aeond (or any other cryptonote daemon) is running while I'm testing.
Any hints for troubleshooting? This same system runs the previous version without issues.

@Moneromooo : could you eventually post binaries for the updated cpuminer? With that (and working Phoenix bins) I think I'm all set for the forking party  Grin

Thank you both!

You could try :
- removing your p2pstate.bin (make a backup copy first).
- make sure the program is not blocked in your firewall.

Assuming you mean Windows binaries... No, I don't use Windows.
Otherwise, I'm not sure there's much point.
