Sorry if its covered here in previous posts. But I didn't catch those for some time.

Just to be clear, To 'Start Local Harvesting' I need 10,000 (Ten Thousand) Vested XEM Balance or 1000 (One Thousand) Vested XEM Balance ??

I have more than 1900+ Vested XEM Balance, and getting:

Quote
ERROR 700
The provided account does not satisfy the basic criteria for harvesting. Mainly it is related to the amount of XEM within the account. Harvesting starts with at least 1000 XEM.

If it's 10,000 Vested XEM, can I have a link to bug submission link?
If it's 10,000 I see it not corrected in the latest 0.6.28 update. When are we expecting it to be corrected?

It's 10 000 and the typo has been reported for a bit I think. Dunno why it hasn't been fixed.

Here is github report of the bug: https://github.com/NewEconomyMovement/NemCommunityClient/issues/365
There is no need to report it again only maybe some sort of a bump that it is still present in .28

Is it better to harvest local oder is it better to harvest delegated?
I'm definitely going with delegated harvesting.
Here is some comparison article I wrote about it.

http://support.ournem.com/knowledgebase.php?article=13

I hope I got everything right. If not - devs/more experienced NEMsters - please correct me.

Also this is first public appearance of NEM Knowledgebase, a small project several of us in the support team were working on.

Thanks. I activated delegated harvesting because I want (everyone should want) to harvest 24/7. I think it's the better choice. Can someone tell what the "vested balance" is? Is it only a virtual number which defines the importance of my account?

P.S.: I will harvest blocks while using delegated harvesting, right? In case that I found a block while delegated harvesting and the block contains fee, will I get this fee automatically on my real account?

P.P.S.: On (http://blog.nem.io/how-local-and-delegated-harvesting-works/) there is nothing about replacing 'localhost' with a public node. I think this info should be added, including a link to the list of public nodes.

Vested balance is "virtual" number which is one component of the importance score. It exist and the vesting is "slow" so that it is harder to game the system. On that vested number the usefulness (which is calculated using how many transactions you are having and with whom) is added. That is Proof of Importance (PoI). If you just have XEM and don't interact with others on the network your importance score will just be calculated out of your vested balance - than, for you, it is only Proof of Stake (PoS).

P.S. Yes and yes
P.P.S. Yes, I agree - hence the my article on KDB :-) But remember that using other people's nodes, you will be harvesting (even when you computer is off) but you will not be supporting and strenghtening the network (just like electrum wallet is not for BTC) that is why it is strongly encouraged the setting up your node like on Raspberry Pi or VPS.

Edit: Here is the tutorial how to set up FREE VPS on Amazon: https://forum.ournem.com/vps-nodes/how-to-create-an-amazon-ec2-vps/

Thanks for your answers. Yeah, I will setup my own node, soon.

Can't enter my wallet, after I enter my passphrase it doesn't open it. Just stays at the same page;

When I hover over the shield on the taskbar it says;

NIS is running (local node not booted), NCC is running.

What does that mean?

I'm guessing you have a space or a dot in the name of your wallet. That's what usually causes this behaviour.
There's already a ticket open to validate the wallet name on creation.

I have bought some XEM (more than 10k) and sent it to my wallet. Opened wallet on local machine and I still can't start local harvesting. It still claims I have too few XEMs. Also "Importance of account to the NEM cloud" is still 0%. What is the problem?

It takes time for your XEM to get vested. You need 10k vested XEM before you can start harvesting. Each day 10% of your XEM will get vested.

I would suggest you get up to 100k to see anything meaningful happen. You can start harvesting within the next day.

You may close and open your wallet whenever you like.
But if you want to be harvesting while your wallet is closed or your computer is turned off please read more here:

Thank you.

Another question:
Can I create lets say 10 wallets where I will send >10k XEM and enable delegate harvesting for all of them?
Will same effect be achieved with one address/wallet that contains amount of XEM equal to all of that 10 wallets?

Yes.
The only effect to increase that odds for those 10 small accounts is to develop some scheme to circulate XEM between them - that would temporarily give you larger importance score.
We are testing/playing some scenarios to see how that work here on the official forum.
We have started another round already but in short future I believe we will be doing it again so if you want to join - keep an eye on this thread:

Another question regarding delegated harvesting, do you have to stop and restart delegated harvesting every time you change the remote server?
I havnt harvested any blocks yet and am unsure if im doing everything right.
I activated deligated harvesting on launch day and was running as a local node at the time as i didnt know much about how it worked.
