The leader of Liberland got arrested!   https://twitter.com/Liberland_org/status/597159216927940609

That means people are starting to take him seriously.

Time to put the pressure on and get him to take NEM seriously.
What did he get arrested for i wonder?
Was he arrested in liberland itself? nlol

Ilegal trespassing border.

I wonder as the President of Liberland if he tried to claim diplomatic immunity.  That probably only works if your country is recognized though

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

As an investor, it is really annoying to see people discussing nonsense topics here. Why don't you focus on NEM's development instead of feeding FUDsters and NEM haters. I would like to read more stuff that matters.

The real Nem community is on Telegram. I'd like to invite you to join them.

What is the Telegram?Link? Smiley

Create an account at https://telegram.org/ if you haven't done this already and PM me your username so that I can ad you. Smiley

Does telegram actually require phone # to register  Huh

Yes. Privacy my ass. That's the reason I haven't joined.

Ah, I just remembered there is a web version too.  https://web.telegram.org/#/login

It would suck but a totally anon way to set it up is use a VPN with a US IP and set up a gmail account, then a google voice account, at which point I think you get a free phone number that you can use to register.  Or..... at least I think that is how it works.  No promises.

When I had about 1.7 million XEM my network-importance was 0.23 ‰ yesterday. Now I have 4.1 million XEM and the network-importance is 0.20 ‰. Why?

The network importance does not only depend on your stake but also on some other factors. Since the algorithm has not been revealed yet it is difficult to say what factors. But devs gave some clues. Try to do some transactions and your importance should increase.

Or does the system send you a code over SMS to be able to register?!

I'd say that you did get a lot of unvested XEM but I'm not an expert.

What do you mean my ass? telegram offers encryption, not anonymity, nor do they ever promise anything like that.

So it took me up until last week to unlock my stake and I have to say, I am appreciative of how much bigger it is than I thought it would be. But still this is going to be a hobby and I'm going to use my "extra" NEM to try and increase circulation...

Anybody accepting NEM for merchandise yet?

I also should give credit where its due: the graphical interface is lovely and less confusing than NXT.

I'm really looking forward to the next release where assets are functioning, and offer my support to the community and developers. Please keep this thing going, try to continue with community outreach, and I will keep wearing my NEM t-shirt to work on Fridays.

Hey guys

I am doing some brain storming and need the power of the community.

XEM cryptocurrency is the best "currency" in so much as far as the actual software supporting XEM is the best.  But lots of other things about NEM are falling far short.

I want to know what do we "need" to be successfull?   What does XEM need?  What does NEM community need?  And what does NEM software need?

I'll start.

XEM needs:
1) lots of places accepting it
2) more exchanges
3) better fiat <-> XEM options
4)....

NEM community needs:
1) good communication
2) more structure and organization
3) better websites
4) more ways to recruit new people
5) support for community
6)...

NEM software needs:
1) A better GUI
2) more features
3) more powerful partners in industry taking it up
4) better product support
5)...

Nothing of that at all.

2 simple words: USE CASES !!!!!!!

We should offer free nem to bring in new people. It ain't much but offering a small amount of nem for someone to try the client would probably help grow the user base. I am changing my signature to this.

New Economy Movement

Free 500 XEM! First time NEM users only. Download the NEM client, here http://www.ournem.com/install.html

Once downloaded, send me your address!

Every little bit counts.

nice.. you should put junior members or higher only to remove sock accounts.

I understand your reasoning, but that wouldn't really help bring in as many newcomers as possible...

Maybe if bitcointalk newbies post here enough, or show some way that they're genuinely interested in contributing?

I wouldn't wanna be excluded from such a giveaway after all this trouble I'm going through! Grin

ok good point Cheesy

maybe just a browse of post history then lol

I'd give you my wallet's address, if I could get the damn thing to work properly Shocked

I have NO idea what is wrong

I've been through every guide, had so much help from users here & on IRC, but I still can't get the AWS to run properly, and I still can't log in to my local wallet.  NIS fails on both platforms.  Can anyone show me what I might possibly be doing wrong?  A default configuration example, perhaps?

Thanks...

http://www.nodeexplorer.com/  is back up and online and is great for checking out lots of details about nodes

We also have http://blockexplore.in/ which is a blockexlporer and rich list

And Nembex at http://nembex.nem.ninja/ which gives you a little bit of information about nodes and a block explorer.

These links need to be on page 1.
I know the pages at home, have links saved, at work searching on google is hopless and no crosslinking of all the places NEM is.
If you really want NEM to be successful and widespread as you say.
It needs to be easy.... not just for geeks. 99.9% of the addressable population are not computer people.
They use them but dont know them inside out, same as car drivers are not mechanics, necessarily.
Github etc.. is confusing for my mother.
It needs to just work.
Remote host is basically all most of the population will use, so it needs to be easy.
Otherwise they wont wait for local host to download an up to date chain, and default to dollars or credit card in the wallet.
A default setup is necessary and easy to follow writeups on how to delegate.
If the remote host goes down a popup needs to happen saying restart delegated harvest etc...
Little things but will make NEM a real force.

Is a lot easier than NXT at the moment, that said.
The features need to happen so we can evaluate real world opportunities NEM looks like providing.
Asset exchange and built in multisig are winners for business if handled correctly.
Could change the world.
needs to be easy and secure.
I am not a programmer, I will be a user if it rolls out well.
regards,
Tacktic.

if you send me the access file to the server and the code I could just try fix it for you? (this would not give me access to your Aws account)

Well, as uncomfortable as I'd feel giving you access (no offense  Wink  ...keep reading) despite knowing some of NEM's security features, I'd prefer to learn the ins and outs myself!

I've fixed the local wallet; NIS is synced & I can access everything through the browser (if my Host is set to localhost)

I've successfully set up the AWS node, and have it running Grin (thanks to Stoner19 @ IRC)

But when I add that node's public IP to the Host in my browser, NIS fails.  Stoner19 said something about opening up ports in the Security Groups section inside Management Console?  Anyone familiar?  Port range 7890 is already in the list...
